@@MadPanicGaming the full title is Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth/スターソルジャー バニシングアース. It WAS made by Hudson Soft IIRC. I used to have it before circumstances made me sell off my N64 collection. It was pretty good; not great, but worth checking out if you're a fan of the series. It's not too pricey loose either. The 'Murican version is expensive CIB but the Nipponjin version isn't TOO bad complete, at least according to eBay.
This is the second best shmup on the PC Engine, after Galaga 88. People who come with Soldier Blade have no idea. That game becomes rather bland after a few stages. Final Soldier is pumping from start to finish. If you don't count Galaga 88 as shmup, well this is the epitome of shmups. Too bad this review does not include the soundtrack, as it has one of the best chiptune soundtracks ever made on any console, totally outperforming all other Soldier OSTs! The badass composer also did the equally excellent Jackie Chan Action Kongfu OST on the PC Engine. You can even hear similarities in some of the boss fight tracks.
This is the only Soldier game I have for the the PC Engine and I loved it.
The only one one needs.
Things I've known for 20 years: Final Soldier is awesome.
Thing I didn't know until this video: There's a story in final soldier.
Yes indeed. It's totally irrelevant, but you're fighting bio-mechanical creatures from the future. kind of like Terminator.
The Star Soldiers series on PC Engine is the proof God exists.
And that god loves sick shooting action.
i love your reviews man for pc engine!
So many excellent shooters for pce.
All the shooters I see on PC Engine looks so good. Guess its time to dig up a console at Hard Off now :P
Go for it! PC Engine is probably my favorite system to collect and play games for at the moment.
Great game and up there with gun head. Soldier blade is only one i dont have always seems to be expensive every time i see it..
Jim, you should review Omega Boost on PS1. It’s an amazing mecha shooter that not many people talk about. 👍
I love that game! I couldn't review it for this series because it wasn't a Japan exclusive, but maybe when I start Shoreviewken back up.
Awesome PC Engine Shooter. Most played game of the year for me. Try some 2 minute caravan mode, warning its highly addictive :)
Great shoot em up!!!
Can somebody tell me what the PC Engine's bestselling features were?? Wasn't it just another regular nes???
Look up my article 10 reasons why the PC Engine is the best classic console ever made.
I miss the intro of yours Jim when it said "Groovy" 8^)
Anthony..
Reserved for special occasions. :)
Love this game. Is my least favourite from the trilogy but still an awesome game and the music simply rocks.
Did you ever play the N64 Star Soldier?
I don't think so.

Great game, but Soldier Blade is better. Actually my favorite PC Engine game.
Not, this is. People who say Soldier Blade is better don't get beyond stage 2....
