This season the Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood Spring-Summer 2017 collection & campaign is inspired by the Mediterranean.
“I spend a lot of my time in Italy as this is where most of the collections are made - we have a studio and a team there and after all these years we have fallen in love with Italy and the Mediterranean. I love the sea and being close to it - I thought ‘I want to make the summer collection about the Mediterranean’, an homage to the people and the place. We are calling it ‘Europa’. I love everything around this big sea. There is a similarity if you are in Italy or Greece, Spain or France- suddenly you are in front of this fantastic blue and time changes and your attitude to life changes and the way you look changes. It makes people look so lovely and healthy. It’s this Mediterranean way of life I adore and am inspired by. I love the light. I love women wearing hardly anything- going to the market in their bikinis, lunch with friends- a bowl of spaghetti. Things are simple. But at the same time it makes you think - thousands and thousands of migrants moving across it every day- using the sea as a passage. Is it a coincidence that I’m thinking of Europe? I am not a particularly political person but I want the collection to be part of where I am, where we are.”

I used to work for Vivienne Westwood Headquarters in battersea when I was 17 back in 1997 id see her every day and Andreas he was a cool guy

I created a Limitless NeuroSuccess eCoaching Program many years ago, so I wholeheartedly agree about our limitless and unlimited potential; I often feel as though we as humans are just scratching the surface of what we are capable of.
Andreas and I was 14 or 15 when the Sexpistols tickled your brain with Anarchy in the UK. Disco, Bowie, Stones, Beatls are gone. Vivienne Westwood, The Sexpistols and Punk simply changed the way teenagers communicated; You got kicked out of school for a haircut. It was ridiculous, adults changed sides of the street just because you weren't dressed like them. For the first time, you felt represented by people who were essentially of the same generation. You didn't ask a rotten establishment for advice on how to live! A new generation, a new genre of music literally confirmed your feelings for life and it came from the kids themselves and not from the industry. Europe at its best.

Poor poor poor Vivienne Westwood! I used to save and save to buy her clothes and used to love them. Since she met AK I have never bought her clothes as I have never liked any of his designs. He is persona none grata without her.
He adores and loves her. I know the time when they met in vienna art class. I was a life model in her class then.

I used to adore The Great Great Great Vivienne Westwood! I used to have my head shaved and wear her black bondage trousers and countless of shirts! I stopped buying her clothes as soon as her house was hijacked / sabotaged by Andreas. Have never liked his work! I now wear other designers. Poor Vivienne. So sad.

Completely nauseating that Vivienne one of the greatest designers of the 20th century has subliminated her talent to this man. His designs are unoriginal pastiche, , based on Vivienne's archive and YSL. Let's face it, they are predictable, repetitive and average designs. As he took more and more control, the designs became less and less original. It's a shame that Vivienne seems to feel the need to 'big up' the men she works with, negating her own unique talent. She's done it continuously throughout her career, with McClaren, Gary Ness and Kronthaler.
Personally, I find a lot of VW's recent designs to be, at best, lacking, and at worse, naff.
I think he's given her a well needed boot up the bum to remember her genius. Take the best of half of his show and the best of half of hers and you get a fairly decent collection.

I just wish his designs were good ...none of my business what she gives him ..but I just don't like his look ...it always looks the same to me ,muted colours sloppy t shirt fabrics ...
