Ah man...I remember when the PS One came out. I got my first one as an open box item at Best Buy in 1997 (I think like Spring...cause I was still in 6th grade). I was so stoked to get one, it came with a demo disc that I played through like 50 times lol. I think everybody did back in the day. The funny thing is that I still have that same system to this day, it's more of a sentimental thing than anything. I remember my mom got it for me, and she passed away almost 14 years ago now.

From PS1 to the upcoming PS5, I’ve been a PlayStation fan since very first console. I like Nintendo as well but PlayStation always “felt like home” for me when it comes to gaming.
Videogame quality and purity really started to slow down and not be so *consistently* groundbreaking or have as many huge tech leaps after 6th gen. 5th gen and early 6th gen when Dreamcast was still around were Industry peaks.
I remembered the time when I used to play PS1 with Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, and Ace Combat 3 with my dad when I was 4. The best time there was, but it was burned in 2005 because of the accident. I can say is that PS1 is the best Console to me. PS2 was the Titan of my PS era, played Tekken 5, Burnout Revenge, Black, God Hand, God of Wars 1 and 2 and Burnout Dominator. Truly a wonderful memories with PlayStation. Thanks, Sony and GameSpot

After it got delayed AGAIN and after a friend of mine offered to sell his cheap with die hard trilogy, wipeout, ridge, destruction derby and a few great demo discs, I caved in and never regretted it! I bought the PS1 and PS2 in the local mall at a Software, Etc. (I believe). No lines, no bots buying online...just walk in, say "Hey", pay, and walk out. So much easier back then. The dual analog controller didn't have vibration. At no time was PS+ Plus required for online play on the PS3. In fact, anyone can still play online on PS3 for free today.

I remember playing Buzz with my friends on ps3 holding controllers with batteries. Great times!
Online play was free on PS3 and didn't require PS Plus, that was one of the main reasons I got it over a 360.

My bro never ditched Nintendo for some bizarre reason..
This is a story many 90's kids share. I started with the NES, had the Game Boy and the Super Nintendo (all purchased by my parents) and then I bought a Playstation with my own money and never looked back. I got the PS2, the PS3 and the PS4.
All the 90s kids had the same girlfriend 😂😂
90s kids are lucky to be able to see, play the first console and being part of the Journey from the very beginning
i still have my ps2 and ps3 hooked up to a tv... just in case.

Sony offered a lucrative royalties deal with profits potentially equalling those Square would get by self-publishing the game. Square accepted Sony's offer as Square itself lacked Western publishing experience. Square was uncertain about the game's success, as other JRPGs including Final Fantasy VI had met with poor sales outside Japan. To help with promoting the game overseas, Square dissolved their original Washington offices and hired new staff for fresh offices in Costa Mesa. It was first exhibited to the Western public at Electronic Entertainment Expo 1996 (E3).
In Japan, within three days of its release, two million copies of Final Fantasy VII were sold.[67][150][151] Upon release, it was a killer app for the original PlayStation console, with Computing Japan magazine noting that it was largely responsible for the PlayStation's global installed base increasing from 10 million units sold by November 1996 to 16 million units sold by May 1997 (an increase of 60%).[152] According to Weekly Famitsu, 3.27 million copies of the game were sold in Japan by the end of 1997.[153]
