My theory is it's sort of a simplified European English. These guys spend most of their time in mainland Europe speaking with riders and team staff in a mix of broken English, French, Belgian etc. I figure they use certain cycling specific words that translate well into those languages so it's more interchangeable and translatable for TV too. Just a theory though
This is not a knock on anyone. You notice this sloppy English from "English as a 2nd, 3rd, 4th language" for a lot of the pros - I think they do an amazing job. BUT. We've been subjected to Cav, Pidcock and Wiggons - not exactly the 3 brightest bulbs in the pack. They're racers not statesmen. Sitting through a Pidcock interview is torture. Cav speaks poorly and is an arrogant bore. Wiggo is just a mumbling narcissist.
Healy was on fire, director panicked because it HAS to be phenomenon Pogacar as the winner, so they just kept riding in front of him to help, what a disgace. I had WorldCup/Messi vibes...
The race would have gotten way way more publicity if this would have been the race that Pogacar was beaten I think. So I don't think they did it on purpose for whatever reasons.
@@stendijk8949 No he definitly did but I think it is no reason to immedialty jump to such a conspiracy conclusion. I think it was just plain "we did not consider this". But yes, it was not entirely fair. Still, I am quite convinced Pogacar would have won either way, it is next to impossible to catch him once he is away.
Another emerging superstar from the Trinity stable, brilliant to see
Guy

Comet Healy today! Well deserved 2nd place. Respect.
1:20: "he was holding something in reserve" Nope. the race director helpt Pogi open the gap from 20 sec to 30 sec....
Seems like EF is starting to nip at the heals of this Bigger teams.
Close your eyes and try not to hear Dan Martin...

Well done m8, but what is it with the way these pro riders speak ?. Very weird.

@@KD_cycling spot on. We had a discussion and came to the same conclusion. It's still weird though.
Umpteen hours at or over the limit can turn the most loquacious and erudite person into a virtual zombie.

Sure because if anyone is not able to win by himself then it is Pogacar. Seems plausible.
@@arnoldhau1 You can't deny that he got major help from the draft like at least 10 seconds

Looks like a bloody vagrant
he is a young lad with a bit of hair and a couple of earrings, hardly makes him a vagrant
