Nice. I just ordered one after watching this review. I've been wanting one I can take on the road or trails that can take on hills without spending 3k+ .and I love the color.
Would be great if you did a comparison btwn this Summit and the Aventon Ramblas. About $1,000 more, expect the Ramblas is superior, but your perspective would be helpful.
@@chaxologist2024naw, not quite that simple; a larger cassette would very likely require a new derailleur, too. In 8 speed, larger cassette options are not available, which means the owner needs to upgrade to at least a 9 speed, which also now means a new chain. So, can be done, but not that similarly or inexpensively.
Great Video! It is quite confidence inspiring. I especially like your comment on the versatility. At 67, I haven't ridden my mtn bike in 10 years, and probably wont anymore. I think I could learn a new comfort level for trail riding with this bike. I also really like the range and ability to get up hills on bike paths. This one is going to be a contender for my $$ (with a suspension seat added).
I'm surprised you didn't mention weight as something you'd like to see lowered. It's 65lbs? Seems portly for a MB. even an EMB. Also, watching the video it seemed like anything but nimble to ride, and even bone-jarring on the descent. That could have just been the conditions though. Great video and content. Thank you for sharing it!
Thanks for watching! We definitely want it to be lighter, but for sub $2k with that size battery and a hub motor, the weight is more or less what we'd expect. It's a tradeoff of something entry-level.
Testing a 1300 watt peak power bike at its middle setting instead of boost is silly when measuring its capability it’s like restricting it when you do the hill climb and speed tests. This is a multi power bike and needs a more comprehensive test then most bikes
Thanks for the thorough report. Nicely done! I thought I was ready to buy the Aventon Ramblas or Trek Powerfly-4, and then I found this thing. This looks great for what I need! I won't be doing technical single-track. More like fire or forest service roads and dirt paths with some climbs, and while I'd normally shy away from a hub drive system, this one seems plenty powerful enough for my purposes. Good range. Good power. Excellent torque, and a torque sensor. Perfect! I want something with the option to ride from home to the area I plan to explore (12 +/-mi.), but the 20mph limit of the other bikes would make that an arduous journey.
Based on everything you described, this sounds like a terrific option for you! Velotric has Black Friday pricing happening right now too so it's even at a discount, great time to get one! We appreciate it if you buy one after clicking our pricing link - it helps support our testing and reviews :) If you get it let us know how you like the ride!
I think the Summit 1 is a little more versatile than the Ramblas. Unless the Ramblas can do work commutes, and throttle OVER, 30 mph. But regards to off-road and mountain biking, of course the Ramblas is superior.
I'm not at all interested in a workout on a bike. Just enjoy the outdoors and leisure. Or getting myself to work at 35-40 mph. We don't have bike or dirt bike trails within 100 miles. No bike paths or lanes. But I enjoy the reviews. Nice job all! Looks like it has some good top end but just shy of my 40 mph requirement.
Ever since the drop in sales of the commuter/urban ebike market, it seems every one of those 'commuter-only' ebike manufacturers are all jumping into the EMTB market. Let's see how long they last.
29 inch wheels would have been better, the Altus derailleur can be had on $600 non-electric hybrid and mountain bikes. A kick stand prob not a good thing to have on single track. Full light setup overkill for trails. Hub motor with unwanted extra weight in rear. Seems like they didn't want to go full on trail bike so it's a weird mix of components that just makes a lot of compromises. The Aventon Ramblas though more expensive is at least a full on no excuses mountain bike for those who want or need electric assist.
Ummm … a hub motor means you can still ride home with assist if you break derailleur, or chain, unlike a useless mid drive motor…..You upgrade the wheels, fork and put a shimano zee derailleur and get back with me…

Wow, fast to release this review! Only issue I see is the 8 speed small rear cassette. A big 10 speed would help up hillls, but not bad.
I agree and addresses the concerns with the Velotric team but it’s really not that bad only on super punchy short climbs you might notice it
You can easily upgrade it to a 10-11 casette as well as the shifter!

Great review. Note that Velotric says this bike has a dual-type sensor (torque or cadence), which is a nice feature.
comprehensive review, good work! Subscribed today.

Entry level my ass. That is one fine bike
Informative and helpful. Thanks.
Would you recommend the large or regular for a 5’ 10” with 31” inseam?
Can you put thinner tires on it for less aggressive terrain?
Nice bike, great color
Nice looking bike

is there room for larger tires, especially the rear to maybe help with the extra hub weight ?
Well the rear obviously can’t change out cause the motor in the wheel design but the front maybe, I’ll try throwing a 29er on mine tomorrow
Well yeah. But, we get it. It's really a fantastic eMTB. Especially at a $2,100.00 price point. I can't wait to get me one.

I don't see any ebike doing 40 mph at the price range of this Velotric Summit 1.
I am terrified at the thought of 40mph on a bike.
If it goes 40 mph it’s not a legal bike and now it’s against the law in most states
Can the battery on this bike be charged outside of the bike, or does it need to be installed to charge?
I believe it can do both charge on or off rhe bike

How long the companies last? Or the trend toward eMTB?
Hopefully forever..... don't want to live in a Wall▪︎E type dystopia
@@gmsunshine The trend
How is it compared to the Ride1UP LMT’D V2?
Is the app required?
No, you can ride and use the bike on its own.
Not doing hill climb in boost was not a good capability test!
how much does the rider weigh going uphill?
Justin weighs about 180 lbs.
New price as of 6/1/24 $1999.
Poop.

I'll pass on the branding alone.
Unless they're going to pay to advertise their company.
