For two years I lived in South Lake Tahoe, supporting myself as a snow ski instructor, then water skiing in the summer. You have outdone yourself Matt. That's beautiful country up there in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I played this video in 4K on my 50" computer monitor. Absolutely stunning video work. A pleasure watching with the added bonus of seeing my old stomping grounds. Finger wag: You need to be properly equipped when going on those trails. E.g., knowing what to do if you suffer a snake bite. (That's rattlesnake country.) Then there's the bears and mountain lions. And those pesky falling trees.
Torque sensor bikes are the way to go, IMO. I'm also expecting to see your tree fall segment in a fail video compilation soon since the poor guy took a tumble.
Looks like a great bike! I checked out Rad and Aventon eMTBs and they are not as good. This one has weight capacity over 400 lbs. I like the fact that it doesn't come with a rear rack since I prefer Ibera quick release trunk bags. The tires are a little too wide to fit on the bus rack, but maybe I could mod that. Handle bars too low, needs a suspension seat post plus a spare battery. So, looking at another few hundred dollars in accessories and mods.
I love Lake Tahoe I have the same bike in Orange I ended up swapping out the forks to some nice Bomber Z2 air forks now I love the bike! The stock forks aren’t bad but I send it on some pretty good jumps and just wanted something a little more higher quality
I really enjoy your review videos. Extremely helpful and well done...and entertaining. After watching this video and others. I am leaning towards the Summit 1. Thank you.
I think the Philodo H8 you tested a few months ago would be perfect for that , just throw on a suspension seatpost, and use the gears and PAS unless you need the AWD
Wow, the whole scene with that tree coming down, sheesh! Query: I wonder whose decision it was to put that one worker down the road to stop anyone who might be passing by on the trail. Seeing how it saved some random dude on an electric bike from getting injured, a tip o' the hat to whoever told that forest worker "go stand down there in case you need to stop Timmy Tourist from flatlands."
Some California action there. Not a “hey stop for a minute so you don’t die”, but a “ayyyy do you think maybe I could, like, ask you to ‘slow down’ for a minute?” That thinner air really affects people I guess.
Damn, you made it close to where I'm at in Reno but nobody really comes here unless they're snowed in, have court or got lost.😂 One of these days, I'll buy an ebike. Meanwhile, I ride a 49cc scooter and I would love to sell or trade it for something electric that can do 40mph/40mpc.
Hey I am looking to get a e bike for my graduation gift and your videos are really helping me out. I have a question though, what would you say is more fun to ride the e cell 5 star or the wired freedom
Ok Because of you I just ordered this e-bike. My wife and I watched 40 of your e-bike reviews but this e-bike checked off everything I was looking for. So thank you. And by the way I used your discount code. 🙌🏾
veryvery nice area to get sun and cool at the same time. Sir, can you please include in your future videos your recommendation for Step Thru Full Suspension from mid to affordable options. thank you!
You are making it really hard not to get one. 🙂 I just wish they offered a few upgrades on it. I have several bikes in disassembly waiting for me to upgrade wheels or forks.
That beach is called Sand Harbor, and my dude, you're in NV, not CA. I have WIRED Freedoms, and I so am going to ride that trail this summer. BTW, Sand Harbor is my favorite place to go in Tahoe.
Hey I’m looking to get a e bike for my graduation and I was looking at the e cell 5 star and the weird freedom, but I was wondering was was more fun to ride between the 2
I’ve really been enjoying the ecells lately, almost brought it for this ride but honestly don’t know if that much power next to these cliffs is a wise choice 😆
that trail must be pretty tough cause you definitely seem to be in pretty good shape and it still got you winded. Do you know what the difficulty level is for that trail ?
I seriously considered it instead of this bike, ultimately the summit one is really all the power you need for this trail and it is a lot lighter and more nimble for this kind of riding. If you search back through the content on my channel, I made a video with the Wired freedom on this channel late last summer.
E-cell five star, it’s 1500 w continuous, and 2400 w peak. There is a coupon code for $100 off, so $1895 out the door. If you want more power and dual battery setup, go with wired e-bikes, $1999 plus shipping and tax, around $2500 out the door.
Although velotric seems like a good trustworthy company, but the prices of their e-bikes just made their e-bikes not appealing. You can just get e-cell five star for the same amount of money but a lot more power and range.
If there's a E-bike you want that hasn't yet gone up 300$ ish then now is the time to get it. Before mid June EVERY popular e-bike will go up by around that much in cost due to tariff exceptions expiring without being re-istablished....sucks. I am pretty sure June 14th is when the change takes effect but different companies might have stock already inside the USA before then and will be able to take longer to raise prices then others
😂 Our favorite California Dude, you just had several Epiphany *Come to Jesus* moments! 1. Mama Bear; 2. Unaccustomed to High Attitude Breathing; 3. Literally, Clift Hanging, and; 4. ALMOST recording your fate with a tree--as foresters ran for their lives! Seriously, you and all of us need to count our blessings and thank God for His Miracles. Thank you for the good video and sharing your personal clift-hanging experience. 👍

Is this a good bike for someone who is 6,3? (im not 6,3 btw)

Just got my velotric discover 2 and I absolutely love it so far. 200 miles on it and counting and it's amazing
Love the location shoot, good idea, i was entertained
Got the same looking Summit for Christmas, definitely may have to drive up to Tahoe to do that ride! And the bike path next to Sand Harbor

Thanks for the ride along!
Great views my friend. I went to Chiricahua National Monument on Memorials Day. I had a blast, nice trails.

Awesome vid matt, looked like a great time out there. Gorgeous
Looks to me like it is safer than going thru skid Row. 🤨
Great video, I will hit that trail this summer.
I think the Philodo H8 you tested a few months ago would be perfect for that , just throw on a suspension seatpost, and use the gears and PAS unless you need the AWD
The real California incline
And it's right above Incline Village, Nevada
Great video, Awesome ride. I rode It two days ago on my Wired Freedom. Great day.
Great trail...I’’m surprised by the elevation! Good review!
That was a great video..! Loved it..!
Nice view down to Sand Harbor. Next stop Secret Cove? 🏖
Nice trail!! That was FUN!!
great great vid !! loved it .thanks ....peace

Pretty sure I saw you at Electrify Expo today. I'm sure you had a field day with all the rides there.
You did 👋 hope you enjoyed!⚡️🤙
I have the urbrica ebike and I love it but i really really wish he would do a review on it
All your videos are good anyway. But this was a pretty good adventure. 🤘🤘

Going to have to bring one of the trikes to this trail! LOL.
LOL....Whoopsy would end up being a DEADSY in that area
I just got the Veloctric discovery 1 (commuter). I wondering if I can take this up there?
Nice ride 👍 RUGER
I don't know if you checked messages but id recommend a dropper seat post ?! Sweet video!
Can you review the BIGNIU BG-X? only the company and like one YTer has, there’s not alot out there on it
good video
Curious, what size Summit 1 did you get and how tall are you? Thanks!
Great ride! What mode were you in and how much battery was left when you were done?
various modes, I forget, but it shows battery life at end of video, lots left though

Hahaha, thank you so much this really helps and your videos have really been helping me
I hear that when the bike thief retires, he plans on building a cottage in that area and opening a bike shop with rentals for tourists.
Would you choose this bike over say, a Specialized..? (I don't know if you have a Specialized as one of the other 19 bikes you didn't choose).
Do you still have the Obsidian? Im wondering how it will do on that trail.
This will give you a general idea:
th-cam.com/video/93_5SMKwhbQ/w-d-xo.html
that trail must be pretty tough cause you definitely seem to be in pretty good shape and it still got you winded. Do you know what the difficulty level is for that trail ?
It’s the elevation, 7000 - 8000 feet
I would like to see you take the E-Cells Five Star out here.
I seriously considered it instead of this bike, ultimately the summit one is really all the power you need for this trail and it is a lot lighter and more nimble for this kind of riding. If you search back through the content on my channel, I made a video with the Wired freedom on this channel late last summer.
what helmet do you use?
Wired freedom 2024.. Please REVIEW it with dual batteries.
Do you thing E Cell is as good or better ? Let us know . Thanks 👍
Do you use flat out
I'm looking 👀 to purchase a 2024 model ebike 🚴🏾♂️ with a 1500w continuous geared hub motor. What would be your #1 and #2 pick❓️

Wallke X3Pro! ONLY $1299!!⚡
I wonder how a surron modded would do here
You got to remember to add 6'5" to your elevation.
Always take bear spray in places like that and even a way to repair a tire.
I was scared and I was just watching
Can this bike be a good road bike?
Yes
That trail looks taylor made for a mid drive fat tire ebike.
Wow, that’s a pretty scary mountain trail, if you accidentally fall, this video would not even be posted.😢
Could the 5 star handle this adventure?
Maybe choose torque sensor on e-cell five star might work, but I definitely wouldn’t want to ride a high power e-bike to go through this trail.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 you can limit the power with the settings
It looks like you ride way too low. I am worried about your knees. Especially with all that climbing.
Velotric just raised all their prices on all models. So not as interested as I was. This one went up $300 to $1999.
Although velotric seems like a good trustworthy company, but the prices of their e-bikes just made their e-bikes not appealing. You can just get e-cell five star for the same amount of money but a lot more power and range.
Massive Tariff coming, everything cost more , now is only small preview, even more Tariff will hit in a few months.

Tariffs, Velotric is from Shenzhen, China. I still think it's a good deal rather than a great deal now.
@@kauaidiver2still bad deal when you can still get other e-bikes for cheap or get a more powerful e-bike like e-cell five star for the similar price.
