This movie is an absolute masterpiece that skillfully avoids feeling like product placement, has amazing animation, is infinitely quotable, and *really* should've been nominated for best animated feature.

So fun facts: -They were originally gonna pick a different actor to voice Good Cop, but Liam Neeson said he could do it himself. And he did it like a pro. -Vitruvius saying "You better write it down, cuz I'm not gonna remember any of it" was actually Morgan Freeman saying that for real, as he was annoyed with the writers changing his lines. And they just animated it in the movie.
It gets better. Neeson recorded the lines for both Good Cop and Bad Cop _at the same time._ In the same take. There's no cutting. Neeson is flipping back and forth midbreath between voices on the dot. Which is really, really crazy hard to do.

The end talk between Emmet and President Business is what turns this from just a good movie, to a Masterpiece. I've never seen anything more heartfelt in a kids film, and ever since ive watched it AS a kid, that piano, and those words Emmet says...have stuck with me ever since. This movie is fucking amazing.
This was one of the most surprising animated films I’ve ever seen! I thought a movie about Legos would be just a generic attempt to cash in on something popular, but it turned out to be really hilarious, really smart, really heartfelt, and just an overall excellent animated film! Still can’t believe that the Academy criminally snubbed this for a Best Animated Feature nomination.
I genuinely ADORE this movie. somehow it manages to be such a random yet fun and exciting movie that also features such an amazing message. I watched this for the first time when I was 7; now I’m 16 and I still thoroughly enjoy it. I seriously believe that this movie was robbed as it didn’t even get nominated for an Oscar - cause everything about this is so solid.
The level of detail in the animation is insane. You will occasionally see fingerprints appearing on some of the blocks, like when you handled them with slightly oily fingers; but seeing as this is all animated, someone actually had to think to do that ON PURPOSE. Plus, Benny's helmet is split in the exact same spot those helmets always split.
This movie is a masterpiece. Funny, self aware, emotional and epic, all balanced perfectly. The dad realising that his son modeled the villain of his story after *him* , still gets me.
I can confirm that this movie was fucking PHENOMENAL in theaters--I got to see it opening night, and it's stayed with me ever since. Also this was, I believe, Chris Pratt's first big role since Andy Dwyer from Parks and Rec--before he even appeared in Jurassic World, since the movie released in February of 2014. I liked Chris Pratt before it was cool lol

Emmet is without a doubt my favorite, and one of the most adorable and relatable main characters I have ever seen, like this guy really got publicly disrespected and humiliated twice in two movies so far, I am starting to think the writers are on to something. Edit: Maybe in the 3rd movie, it could reveal that Emmet has been bottling up all of his issues and feelings towards his friends for so long, and by the climax his friends (noticing that he´s been acting strange for the entire movie) ask what´s wrong and if he´s okay, he says yes but they are obviously not buying it, and let him know that he can always talk to them if something´s bothering him, promising to not tell anyone else about it, in the most satisfying scene, Emmet then snaps HARD, letting out everything that has been kept inside for the past two movies, he tells how he still feels scared of being alone, how he feels his friends don´t care about him sometimes when they laugh at him for being ¨weak¨ even though he saved the world, and that it upset him when they took all the credit for that, he says he´s been feeling like this for a very long time and that he didn´t want to tell everyone because he was afraid they were going to get mad at him, his friends then apologize to him (for real this time) for everything they have put him through, they hug him, he cries, the end.

I remember wanting to really see this movie when it came out in theaters in 2014. I remember seeing this with my grandparents and we were NOT disappointed!!! This movie alone inspired me to make stop motion movies of my own because of how well this movie was animated and acted and written!! I saw this movie 5 times in theaters and when I got my first iPhone, this was one of my first movie I bought from iTunes, which the first digital movie I bought was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from 2014. But this movie will always be one of my favorite animated movies of all times!! I love it so much and I wish now that Universal Studios bought the rights for LEGO movies for a while, I wish they can continue these movies again! They’re so creative and fun!!! I've only got a few LEGO sets as an adult in my 30s but I've gotten really into their real world science and architecture sets. I have the ISS and Lunar Module on my bookshelf and both are big and detailed. I also have the White House on one of my desks (I work in politics, so it's cool to have) and I'd like to get the new Great Pyramid of Giza set. The ISS in particular is really cool and well designed.

The rushers on the defense had to count to 5 Mississippi or so before they could rush the offensive team’s quarterback. Was to slow them down a little since there were few, if any blockers between them and the QB because teams were small like 4 on 4.

I have 2 favorite LEGO sets, one for nostalgic reasons & 1 for my own personal adult delight. The nostalgic one is a Samurai castle, the second is the Tower of Orthanc (Saruman's tower) from The Lord of the Rings. That last one set me back, but I got it with one of my earliest paychecks after getting out of school.

Not gonna lie, while The Lego Movie is one of my favorite films of all time...I do feel bad for what it did to the Stop-Motion Industry at the time (especially with Kubo and the Two Strings, which released around the same time).
This was my favorite movie for YEARS, I watched it so many times as a kid. You should totally watch the LEGO Batman as well! Honestly, I think it's even better than this one!

Duplo is the preschool version of lego. The pieces had to be bigger so little ones couldn't accidentally swallow them.
The sequel is very good also.
You could watch this 5 more times and still see loads of stuff you missed in the other viewings. Magical film

Not gonna lie, while The Lego Movie is one of my favorite films of all time...I do feel bad for what it did to the Stop-Motion Industry at the time (especially with Kubo and the Two Strings, which released around the same time).
I think the sequel got overshadowed by the lego Batman movie. DARKNESS....
