Little did we know, as hippie teens who adored a lesser-known band called the Buffalo Springfield, what a cultural explosion would emerge from that early music. Wow.

Went to a Crosby-Stills-Nash and Joni Mitchell concert at the Greek Theater and loved it so much I went the next night and sat on a hill overlooking the concert. Joni told everyone on the hill to climb over the wall and come on in -- the concert security let us do it because it wasn't sold out which was amazing because it was such a great concert.

@@jrh11254 I understand, I'm just amazed that young Karen & Richard did it on their very first album when nobody had a clue who they were. They were so young, only 19 and 23 at the time, and just getting started. I think what surprises me the most about their first album is how different it is from everything else they did in their career. Some have said that this album is actually who the Carpenters were and their true sound before having to change their sound somewhat to make it big in the industry. They were much more eclectic than many realize, but had to change to the sweet, nice, pop sound, at least according to the A&M record execs to make it big.

Neil can't even sing at times but he is one of the greatest singers of his own songs.
Ross "Clancy" Smith attended Kelvin High School in Winnipeg, Canada, with Young. He was a notable and apparently controversial figure, though exactly why is a bit difficult to extract from accounts. In John Einarson's Don't Be Denied, Young says, "He was a kind of persecuted member of the community. He used to be able to do something, sing or something, and then he wasn't able to do it anymore. The fact was that all the other problems or things that were seemingly important didn't mean anything anymore because he couldn't do what he wanted to do."
In the same book, classmate Diana Halter says Clancy had multiple sclerosis and was "so intelligent and so bright that he masked the sweet soul beneath it all."
I think you can get MS at almost any age but it would be rare. Neil had a bout with polio was sensitive to others problems. But never sensitive to other band members.

This makes me so homesick for a home I dont have anymore. Actually pretty close to where Neils ranch in N Ca. Maybe he cant. go to that home after his divorce either. Pegi is gone. I used to see them once in awhile at the market. Time, people and places all change

I'd rather listen to Neil play harmonica any day rather than Dylan. He has soul.

As far as I know it wasn't done (I'm sure Springfield fanatics will correct me), but somebody needed to professionally record/video at least one of their reunion concerts for posterity.

Hard to believe it wasn't done knowing how Neil had been notorious for flaking out on the members of this band since it's existence! I guess they thought Neil grew up and actually put his EGO aside for something really special for the fans and gratitude to the band mates that gave him an opportunity for his music to be heard, but it was too much to ask of Neil Young, smh
