    I tried piling this year. I built a pallet bin. 24’ long X 8’ wide X 4’ tall. Left it open on the 24’ long side toward the south. Sun hits the wood most of the day. I spilt the wood, put I into the conveyer and piled the wood in. It’s about 5 or 5.5’ tall at the back and slants down to the open side. I figure about 5 cords in that bin. All hurricane Fiona wood. You see a lot of fire wood channels doing this now.
    The other thing is. Large business that produce large volumes of spilt wood for sale don’t stack. So my guess is wood seasons just as well stack or piled. Now in my garage, I stack to the ceiling. Because of shortage of space. I’m the only one who gets the wood. And I have a homemade, by me, 18” long pickaroon to get the wood down. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
    Have a great Sunday Case and family.

      Great comment Noel. You were one of the guys I was thinking of when I mentioned it, along with Chris from “In the Woodyard”. I guess deep down….I’m just not ready to give up my stacks 😞……not yet

    Hi Case! I bought my first garden tractor last week for $250 delivered (I do not have a trailer.) It is a 1994 Cub Cadet 1440 with Vanguard V Twin and a hydrostatic transmission. It is rusty, and the brakes are bad. The gentleman I bought it from told me it leaked fuel from the gas tank, so he threw a new gasket on it. He showed me a video of it running and it ran well. When we took it out of his pickup, the brakes would not work, so he told me we could deduct $100 from the price. The oil light was on despite the oil being full, so I put more in. Silly me checked the dipstick and saw I put to much in and the engine locked up. It wouldn't crank with the plugs in, so I pulled both and it turned fine, the excess oil shot right out of the heads! I put the plugs in and it still wouldn't start. Now when I turn the key, it clicks, but won't turn over. When I put a jumper directly to the starter, it spins. When I short out the solenoid, nothing. In summary, I ordered a new oil sender/sensor, an oil filter and a new starter solenoid for a total of $28. If firing the parts cannon still does not fix it, I think I will just cut my losses. I WAS so excited to have a true GT, but I bit off more than I could handle. Please advice. The gentleman I bought it from was only 17, only one year older than I am! It was wonderful to see a fellow peer into the same hobby as me! Cheers! Gan

      Sorry to hear that. Honestly it sounds like the seller was being dishonest and sold it under false pretenses. I would recommend draining all the fluids and putting in what you know are the correct fluids so you start from a clean slate and with the right amounts. I’d also put in new plugs and make sure the carb isn’t flooded.

      @@BuildALotAcres HI Case, I know the plugs are good. I tested them when the engine had spark and the spark was strong. Is it possible the coil went bad overnight? I put a new starter solenoid on and the engine cranked when I jumped the solenoid, but when I tightened the wires to it, the plastic cracked. I took it off and the terminals just came right out of the solenoid. I would return it to Amazon, but our dog stole the little bag of hardware it came with, so I will never find that in the yard :D. Before all of this when I turned the key, it just clicked. Does that mean I need a new solenoid and ignition switch? The spark plugs are good and I know that. Only problem is the oil is impossible to drain when the engine is cold! Is it possible that the coil and plugs are good, but the faulty starter solenoid and ignition switch are causing no spark?
      I am quite the rookie mechanic! Thanks.

    My max height is now just above the top bar of a tote cage!👍👍👍
    Also, I'm noticing a significant amount of "shrinking" in the tote of oak I've been saving for weight tests. I'm betting that plays a role in tip over with stacks.
    Great video!

      Hey Kevin, I agree pile’s definitely shrink and settle which can affect the integrity of the stack.

    • @tomjahn6896
      @tomjahn6896 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yeah, the wood shrinks and that definitely contributes the most to toppled stacks

    Great video. We stiil like to stack our wood and tend to stack it to about 8 foot with solid ends and base. We do have to stand on something to stack and unload but it takes up less space

    We're converting into stacking into IBC cages. I'm still old school and make sure everything gets stacked. It dries faster and it looks better in my opinion

      I agree. I have twenty 330 totes with stacked wood in them. I’d love to get a bunch more. I think stacking them two high under a huge pavilion may be in my future 😉

    I stack. I have to see it everyday so it looks nicer. I need to know how much I have. I separate by species. By split size. Then my daughters sell bags so all that wood needs to be the right size and pretty. Lastly space saving. But everyone situation is different. Lack of sun on my land and high humidity cause issues with piles. I don’t like critters either and piles are more attractive to them. Great video today!
