Building a family heirloom Christmas nativity set!
With all the time and expense of putting in a garden, it’s hardly worth it any more. Nothing like coming home from your main job and going to the garden to your second job. Cheaper by far to buy what you need at the farm market.
i have 4 of the wheel horse round hoods in my collection, a rj59, a 1962 32r lawn ranger, a 701 and a 702, 3 of them run the 702 does not yet, all projects, and I love these tractor talks I find then very informative, for me not knowing a ton about the history only being 14
Great work! Lots of work - but worth it. You did well lining everything up and using your machinery. That Kioti can really lift!
I rebuilt a 1973 wheel horse a few years back. I wish I didn’t sell it.
APPLE started in a 2-car garage.
I have always ran Gravely riders, they have been really reliable for me. They came with 50" and 60" decks, plows, snow blowers, tillers, and would do pretty much whatever you needed. Good 50" mower decks are getting a bit harder to find for them and the old tractors don't mow and turn as quickly as the new zero turns, but the old stuff still cuts well.
Very true. I plan on doing a Gravely video one of these days 👍
Very interesting video! Thanks
Thank you 🙏
I have 2 sears suburbans and several attachments for them. They do just about everything I need to do on 12 acres.
Yeah and nothing's made out of steel no more
Baby got made when you called those mowers crude 😂- I always heard the later year Wheel Horses grills where modeled after the horse chess piece- What about Ropers I grew up near there plant
Yeah, he didn't like that too much. lol. We did do a video on the Sears line and briefly touch on Roper ion that video.th-cam.com/video/HuWUAyg336Y/w-d-xo.html
Amen to that. I grew up at a time where if you didn't plant a garden and can your fruits you didn't eat that winter. Plus hunting and fishing to put that on the table. We lived in a poor county and jobs were low pay, I remember My Dad being gone weeks at a time to work a bit better paying job.If something really bad does happen, people will starve . Has they will not know what to do. They kill plants that would have fed them in their yards. Also the food we get from the store are so full of very bad things, we are all sick. I subscribed, liked and shared
Love the tractor talks
Thank you 🙏 Glad you are enjoying them 👍
I buy everyone i can find
I am a new sub and enjoying the plethora of knowledge you guys have and share. I dont know how i missed out on so much of this stuff growing up. I am playing catchup now.
Really appreciate the kind words 🙏 We’re glad you are enjoying the channel 👍
❤
🙏
I use and maintain a general use push mower Briggs & Stration...i get about 15 years out of each one...since 1988 I'm on number 3 mower....less than $600. to $700. for all three.
At what point does a garden tractor jump up to be considered a sub compact? With 4 wheel drive and a loader, I would consider the Ingersoll a sub compact.
Great question. I’m actually debating doing a video on that very topic 👍
To me a sub compact starts at a tractor with standard 3 pt hitch.
Hell,20 years ago, you could buy a tractor, trailer, disc, box blade and a busch hog for 4 thousand dollars. All brand new.
At this point I even miss going into Sears circa 2004 and checking out the offerings on the showroom floor 🥹
@@BuildALotAcres You don't remember the combo tractor sales? I live in Mississippi, they where everywhere.
@@grayrecluse7496 I don’t know that they offered them here in MA.
I started collecting suburbans two years ago and now have 7 David Bradley tractors and 20 later Sears Suburbans. Iam having a real love affair with these tractors and dreamed of owning one as a kid while looking through the big Sears catalogs
I loved the Sears catalog as well 👍
I looked at new ingersolls. I love them but its just not worth it anymore. You can buy a sub compact with loader that will do a lot more for not much more. Maybe if we didnt have zero turns they would be more popular.
I understand. It’s a competitive market and money isn’t easy to come by these days. 👍
I have the 444 just like the ad
Very cool 👍
Very interesting
🙏
That “high school capstone project” would’ve been a C- in most 6th grade classrooms 30 years ago. 😂 If a student didn’t have immaculate handwriting, then he/she was relegated to hours of tedious stenciling.
How well would you write after having a stroke?
big buisness sucks I looked for a earley seventies Bolens instead of buying junk.
👍
Its funny how the chicken tax was brought in for vehicles, yet they allowed the import tractors to sneak in slowly to the point that they took over and killed the domestic market
Yeah, it’s too bad. I try to support American companies when feasible
I have a 2417 model that i mainly use for hauling firewood. I bought a trailer for it that is the same width as the tractor. If the tractor can squeeze between two trees, so can the trailer. The trailer can hold one third of a cord, about 800 pounds of oak. The Power King pulls that with little effort. My only complaint is that the tractor has a very wide turning radius and is not very manuverable, so you have to carefully plan out your route.
Good point. Not to many of the older gts are known for tight turning 👍
Brunt just came out with a Goodyear welted boot, probably even be better than the others now,
I’ll have to check it out. Thanks 🙏
You can still buy commercial grade equipment that's built to last. It's weird that people talk about yesteryear like it doesn't exist anymore. My bobcat is built like a tank and way better than anything from the 60s. Anything old that last was expensive too. The old days just didn't have the cheap serviceable stuff. They only had expensive stuff.
Not many options for commercial grade GARDEN TRACTORS. Which is what the video was about 👍
Not putting a cub cadet 782d or 982 is criminal. They were the one to start it; and those sgts had so much torque
I respect the heck out of the original super garden tractor, but going by weight it only weighs 875 lbs. This list was exclusively the heaviest gt’s. I have an upcoming video on the 982 and the history of IH 👍 I also mention it in my biggest baddest garden tractors ever made video th-cam.com/video/d-FMy3dOF80/w-d-xo.html
Old ones that did something. Cutting grass is not what they are good for
I own the drill, the recip saw like yours, the shop fan, blower, weedeater, shop vac, hot glue gun and the weedester. For me, the weedeater is a steal. I live in a duplex and all i have are the weeds that creep up in the cracks and sides of the sidewalk. No need for a big gas weedeater. Fits in my closet with the blower. The blower is what i use the most often. And the shop vac. The power ratchet looks cool. Might get that next.
I agree, for situations like yours the battery tools are absolutely ideal 👍
I normally NEVER suscribe to utube channels.....EVER. You two just earned another suscriber. Excellent video.
Thank you very much sir 🙏 We really appreciate the kind words 👍
More garden tractor videos, please!
Yes sir. Every Tuesday at 3pm EST we are doing a Tractor Talk video on garden tractors 👍
I have a Bolens Iseki GT172. With category 1 3 point hitch and mid mount 4 ft belly mower. 17 horse 2 cylinder diesel . I love that little tractor.
Great machines 👍
The last decade or so they've gotten really good at falling apart or being a repair money pit .. so I don't bother . Planned obsolescence is So good on newer ones they're obsolete before you can even take out your wallet .. if you need a lawn tractor. Buy an old one
Where is the JD 420?
I’ve mentioned it in other videos 👍
Joex does destruction tests on these and they come out on top. Excellent bang for the buck. Sometimes If your lucky you get one that hasn’t been sharpened and it looks so awesome even though it’s dull. I would rather do my own sharpening anyway.
There should be no reason to fear a chimney fire. If your chimney is well constructed and you pay attention, you will never have a chimney fire. I bought a house with your basic concrete block chimney. After a couple of years of fighting creosote buildup, I decided to install an insulated stainless steel liner. After that, creosote buildup went way down as well as how often I needed to clean the chimney. With the insulated liner, I was able to burn off the creosote every once in a while by building a medium size fire and then stuffing with cardboard. The cardboard fire would burn fast and hot which would burn off most creosote buildup.
My shed is long and skinny like yours, but I put dividers every 8 feet, creating bins. This makes it easier to use the most seasoned wood first.
Great idea. I intend to do the same thing. I also like to organize by species sometimes 👍
“Godden tractas” 😂
Yessah
If im not mistaken, the Cub Cadet Original weights around 400lbs. Great machine from 1961. One of my dream machines to go along side my GT2544!
I have a Cub Cadet history video coming out in a few weeks 👍
@@BuildALotAcres Sweet! Ill be sure to check it out.
1 thing about the hump in the middle of the floor board is that is your frame. The Case/Ingersoll tractors are heavy duty but dont have the biggest frames on them. I think the reason people interchange “Hydrostatic” and “Hydraulic” drive is because they both use fluid pressure to drive the machine as well as there being no gears to shift, or a clutch to press. Just a simple lever or foot pedal like a car to change your speed.
Their too small to do serious work and not break and too big and heavy to mow
I disagree. 10x better than doing things by hand, and commercial zero turns that most people hire out to are just as heavy as many old gt’s
The stuff being built today is what I call throw away! That's like putting a backhoe attachment on a farm tractor it works on a utility tractor but on a subcompack and compact it's a JOKE! I've seen cases where the little tractors were broke in half!!! It's all about marketing and the customer not knowledgeable enough! Sales people are all about $$$$!!!!
I agree. Sad but true 👍
Zero turns are just so fun. Though im just talkkng about mowing haah.
I have the Bauer 2075CR-B brushless reciprocating saw, bought it just over a year ago I think. It worked fine for awhile, but now after one cut the next trigger pull fails to do anything. The LED in front just flashes, you have to pull and replace the battery to make another cut. And of course no support from the manufacturer.
Sorry to hear that
Love the CASE 1200 TK t-shirt.
Thank you 🙏
I have a 1972 Mtd 960. Nothing today is built like the ones back then. Everything is made to be thrown away after 5 years.
I agree 💯 👍
very informational. Its a shame you done see garden tractors much anymore but its cool to restore and use them.
👍
I still plow snows with my 1963 953 wheel horse with the factory hydraulic lift 54" dozer blade. Now days you have tractors twice the size with 54 inch blades.
They definitely don’t build them like they used to
