Watching this in 2022. CX is my favourite airline, it's a shame that they're struggling financially right now. I really hope to get the opportunity to fly with them again.
Amazing video btw you are such a humble guy and happy when you travel and you dont complain about unnecessary things like some other travellers do. You deserve more subscribers👌👍
Just discovered your channel. I am a new subscriber mainly because I enjoy your enthusiasm and good manners. I was under the impression CX had deteriorated in their cabin service but that must have been referring to their Business Class service. Obviously, their First Class service on your flight is what all airlines should aspire to achieve. Thanks for such an enjoyable vlog. I would enjoy a look at the menu offered even if you have to have it in a link. Best wishes and keep up your outstanding reporting.
I flew HKG-LAX in the business mini cabin behind you. It was great, but I knew we were missing out :) Great review.I did get the beef burger with fries and they were both awesome. I was really impressed. we did not get caviar lol
Great video, Raj. I've been fortunate to fly on that route a couple times in F and it is a wonderful experience as you described. The food is great and they definitely feed you a lot! Glad you enjoyed the flight as much as I had. Look forward to more videos!
Hi Michael, You are very lucky to have flown this route so much in F! It really is a novelty. Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it:)
Excellent review in all aspects. Unlike some of the others who do these reviews you do mention the type of aircraft which is something that I’m sure most of us are interested in. I’ve been flying with Cathay Pacific since 1970 and remember their Convair 880 (really fast) planes all the way up through the mid 2000,s at which time I changed my business I’m no longer travel to the far East. But although the first class product that you flew and so expertly reviewed here has certainly changed since I flew first class for so many years In my opinion it was the best back then and according to your review it’s still the best. Keep up the good work with your interesting reviews and I look forward for your next one.
Hey! Firstly, thanks so much for both watching and subbing! Secondly, those PJs were THE BEST. I should have touched on it more to be honest, they were the best of any F I've tried so far.
So Raj ... just found your channel and subscribed. Love how excited you get! I’m a little older than you (ok a LOT older 😞) so I don’t get outwardly excited but rather take it in stride. Well done presentations. I only wish you’d slow pan down the menu in your presentations . Keep up the great work 👍🏻
I have a very very strong premonition that you Mr Londonspotter will be a very successful Airline Vlogger and your delivery, knowledgeable presentations and hansome looks will indeed pass all other Airline Vlogger and blow them all into history . I know your Mum would be so proud of you. Last but not least , Watch out Sam Lol
Trevor Cox he probably has a lot of miles or has bought miles (i.e applying for credit cards that will award miles and using that miles to redeem flights). And by using his miles all he pays are the taxes and the airport fees. But honestly cx has devalued a lot. Their first isn’t what it used to be.
Another excellent video. Great review of an amazing flight. One gentle criticism--it's incomplete without watching your separate full review, and after looking at that I think it would also be incomplete without watching this video. I was especially disappointed at not seeing the menus here, and found them too small to read on the full review. However, that's not a major criticism and overall I enjoyed this review a lot. Keep up the good work.
Thanks James, yes it is often tough to make both a full video and article review. I try and give details such as the menu in the article to save time in the video. Thanks for your kind words and I hope you enjoy the content which is to come!!
You're absolutely right (on the link), Alaska Mileage Plan is an incredible program; I can't even begin to tell you the amazing, unbelievable and creative routing hacks I've done with my miles on there. Such fond memories... - Red
Fantastic review 👌🏻 Seems like 16 hours is really not enough when you’re flying first class especially Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Emirates..Looking Forward to your Qatar QSuites review
Hey Kesh, I'm so happy you enjoyed the video and you are so right... 16 hours just doesn't cut it. Q Suites will be the next flight but a few videos to come first;)
Nice to see someone who knows how to eat Caviar :) And they gave you a Mother of Pearl spoon. Curious: did they offer you onions with the Caviar or did you refuse?
Great video! Did you know Cathay also serves the HK Chicken Curry in economy? Only differences are portion size and presentation. Unfortunately for me, that was the only similarities.
That's a lot of food for 16 hrs mate, I'm someone who eats only twice in 24hrs, I guess I will be paying for the ambience, service and only for the select main course when I fly CP First I think : D. PS: May be I'll eat three times to accommodate that Caviar Champagne course...
"for free" and "for 103$" doesn't include all the money you spent on tickets from the same airline/alliance, most of which you could have bought much cheaper. All in all you probably paid more in total than taking cheaper flights and then paying full price for the first class ticket
Awesome video, you've found a new way to fly lol. Fellow youtuber Jayden @oneworldflyer will be thrilled to hear your thoughts on his national airline! It's wonderful what you can do with points etc. When flying and, you won't get a better or cheaper flight than that, wonderful. The crew are superb too, for review had everything. Thank you so much for sharing this one, I also realised that I wasn't subscribed, rectified now though.
Haha yes, flying First does make sitting in economy rather tough! You're right, this deal is one of the best around I have to say. I'm glad you have subscribed and I hope you enjoy my upcoming videos.
Hello Raj, fantastic video! I am also a huge fan of Cathay. I really loved this video. I have a small question tho. Did you transfer miles to Alaska from American Express Gold? I live in the UK so won't be flying Alaska in the foreseeable future.
Hey Zach, thank so much for your comment, I am really glad you enjoyed the video. I also live in the UK! Unfortunately, Alaska isn't a transfer partner of AMEX so I earned the miles through flights
Do you ever consider the feelings of other passengers, when all they do is hear a guy talking loudly while videoing. If I paid good money for 1st class, I’d be annoyed. It’s rude and inconsiderate to other passengers.
LondonSpotter you clearly don’t have a clue in manners and it is nothing like talking to another passenger. It’s intrusive to other passengers and the crew. How would you like a camera look at everything you do in your job.
So ,interesting video but no mention of how this was done for $103, I expect points redemption but would be nice to know. Cathay has always provided exceptional service, excellent food and the flight attendants some of the most beautiful women in the world...and I mean that in as nice a way possible. But, this flight JFK to HK is a $16000+ journey one way, so the outstanding food and service is to be expected.
Cathay Pacific is only worth flying in First Class. If you need to fly Business Class, avoid them if possible as their Business Class inflight catering kind of sucks. Their flight attendants are too lazy to set your table and instead give you a black plastic tray that is preset and the portion size of their meals chosen from a newspaper style men are inadequate. When flying Business Class, choose EVA Air, Singapore Airlines or Qatar Airways instead.
I've flown Cathay business class from hkg-JFK. The service was amazing. The staff were polite friendly and efficient. They try to give you maximum rest by clearing out the meal and dimming the lights off after the meal service. I believe that majority of the airlines served their food in food trays. All in all I had a wonderful experience with Cathay and will continue to fly with them. Cathay Pacific is the best!😊
everything looks amazing or fantastic...... the main dish definitely wasn't amazing and for 1st class should've been better than a 30 hkd cafe curry dish with soft discolored brocolli
Mr Stevenson nice to have you on our flt, nice video ☺☺
Heey!! I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks for the amazing service
Great video. So would I need to register my Alaska Airways membership to their partners booking to earn Alaska airmiles?
Watching this in 2022. CX is my favourite airline, it's a shame that they're struggling financially right now. I really hope to get the opportunity to fly with them again.
Great Review. Love to see somebody who is so enthusiastic and appreciative
Thanks so much Derek! Lots more to come:)

Hey Kalle, This is such a lovely comment. Thank you so much and let's hope more subs to come!
he complains a lot during his economy flights.
Thats one hell of a great review, loved it i now wanna go and book a long Haul Cathay in First Class, the whole experience looked amazing
Hey dude thanks so much! Was an AMAZING flight
@@rajstevenson7421 No worries Raj, ive travelled Cathay business on a few occasions on A330, B777 & A350 but this a whole other level

How do you do this without paying

No onions on offer and yes, the pearl spoon is meant to keep you tasting the caviar fully!
Really good video quality and review! I wouldn't turn down a first class ticket.
