Thanks 👍 absoutely 💚 HKG. Going back this year. The food, the people, the trams and the architecture. Have you been or live there? Yes Cathay is on an exciting path.
Amazing review. One thing i think people misjudge Cathay for is that they were the guys to invent the style of their Business Class and changed the game in First Class. Many followed after with more advanced products but so excited to use their new business class in a few months and first class next year. Cathay is my favourite airline to fly with. Glad you enjoyed it!
That's so true! In a similar way British Airways sort of invented the lie flat seat with clubworld which is now out dated. I remember when it was common to have angled beds. Cathay is one of our favourites, they'd have to do pretty badly to drop of our list. Everything from crew, food to lounge experience. Thanks for watching 👍
That's cool, what did you enjoy about Hong Kong? I miss it. Also yes that film was both funny and a great love story. So true about the Royals, have to save face.
the crew is consistent on CX flights. First is quite an experience; really enjoyed the many times I was blessed to fly F, LAX-HKG and back, using AAdvantage miles. I like the Pier lounges; something about the environment. safe travels
Totally agree it's a beautiful experience from start to finish. Relaxed homely lounges that could be a 5* hotel and a very humble and often happy crew. Did you just fly them one way?
@@liftoffandtravel flew them r/trip several times from LAX-HKG. I had utilized them from HKG-NRT, prior to flying with American Airlines to either LAX or DFW. CX's regional 777's are sort of odd with recliner seats in J Class. ( aircraft tends to very with A330'S, 777'S , back then, anyway )
@@jimbohr haha yes the 2:2:2 layout. Very pleasant but a little bit like grandma's house with the chairs. Have you been tempted to try JALs new A350? It's on our list we just can't afford it 😂📃
@@liftoffandtravel JAL's new product looks nice; however, as you pointed out- expensive. I was planning on flying JAL from SYD-HND-LAX, and decided to go with CX since they were less expensive in business class, by almost $600.00
@@FlyingWithPoints thank you 😊 as for all four classes have you ever seen a cat 🐈 chase a mouse 🐁? I'm the mouse running down the jetty 😂 I also spent ages thinking exactly what to say.
Thanks for the review. Good to see CP's current offering in First - some really nice points but best in the world - not IMHO! They're still well behind the likes of Singapore, Emirates, JAL and Etihad in my view. One thing - NV Champagne that tastes "like cider" and is nicer than vintage Krug! 🤣🤦♂
Good points. Cathay is sort of going through a transformation a bit like Air India. Given how long they were closed to the world and the loss they made I'm not surprised they are where they are. Can't wait to see how they are in 5 years time. Thanks for watching 👍👀
Absolutely halarious how so many first-class seats look the same, save Emirates. That seat looks like B.A. 1st but no door or another airlines business, but no door 😂
There are a lot of similarities as airlines really push for the best in a lot of cases. I agree if you look at our up coming video for Qatars A380 it appears the customised the same product as Lufthansas 747. Cathays seat also seems to share the same bare bones.
Great video mate, hope you enjoyed Hong Kong. Glad to see Cathay bouncing back after a few turbulent years.

It's good to see CX back in air flight for business. They did look in trouble while covid-19 carried on in the Far East
Thanks David 👍 Agreed was sad to see them flying empty flights for nearly 3 years.
Such a pleasure to fly them again ✈️💚
Great review as always! Am halpy you got to experience it.
Thanks Coy, beautiful part of a world and a joy to fly no matter what cabin 💺 ✈️
Looks fantastic. It has been many years since i left HK after living there for few months at a time. Absolutely love Red White and Royal Blue.

Great review, Cathay First looks impressive!
Thank you for watching 👍
It truly was a delight but it's becoming hard to fly this without paying cold hard cash.
Do you have any upcoming trips?
@@liftoffandtravel Plenty for both this channel and the other one! We also got some nice videos from 2023 to edit and publish as well.
@@southernairs what's been your favourite journey from 2023?
@@liftoffandtravel For me solo- the Australia Tour, from the Southernairs projects certainly the Paris Air Show!
The cabin and food look fantastic
Hard to hate it, even if the product was terrible. Not that it was 😂the cabin crew were so wonderful, friendly and warm.

There're five CX lounges at Hong Kong, including The Deck.
That's true
Great video! How did you manage to visit/sit in all 4 classes while boarding?

Nice review
Thanks Tim 👍
the first class look exackly like business class and business class look like premium class , if you fly from Canada to Hongkong .
Might not seem it from the thumbnail but there is quite a lot more room. Was incredibly spacious.
The products do have a similar look 👍

And it's a game changer.
Beats BA for sure, although that's not necessarily a very high bar to jump over.
😂 To true 👍 the side panels weren't peeling either. The First product on the 787 products is not waring well.
The Red White and Royal Blue during takeoff 😭
I hear they might make a sequel or TV show. I forget 🤔
Not sure if this can be called the world’s best first class in 2024…
A very fair point it is a joy to fly despite its age but yes things have come a long way.
Cathay Pacific do however have some amazing lounges
Did they not give you pyjamas and slippers?
Yes PJs and slippers are provided
lol CX's quality has gone downhill so much after covid. Of all the airlines offering first class cathay doesn't crack top 3
