I'd love to know when you think it makes sense to hire a copywriter vs do it yourself for the average business(or like in my case when do you think it makes sense to sub-contract out some of the content creation). What level of ad spend or scale would be benefited from that in your opinion. Thanks!
Awesome question Brandon! To answer your first question... to start, YOU (as the business owner) make the best copywriter for your business. I say that because often people use copy as an obstacle to launch or start their business (feeling like that aren't a copywriter and, therefore, must hire someone to start). Also, no one knows your brand and business better than you. So getting a "first draft" in the style and tone you want is important. With that being said, as soon as your business can afford it (and especially if you're looking to scale), I'd highly recommend hiring a copywriter. They don't have to be the "best of the best" but someone who is creative, passionate and has the basic copywriting skills you need to scale or improve on where you started. It's important you find a writer with experience in your niche though, as copywriters are not made equal. And content writers are a totally different story (check out my video on content vs copy). As for "content creation" - that's a different story and really depends on what you're doing with your content. If you're looking for organic reach, I'd say hire out all content creation. If you're the face of your brand, you may have to put a bit more time into but then hire out publishing and dissemination.

Just start! Look for companies who are hiring writers and submit your work, or offer to do a free test for them.
