Pre-ordered in the USA. Good to hear your opinion backs my decision. Been tempted by many new cameras but the size and simplicity of this wins me over.
First of all, really attractive, will edited video and narrative. On top of that you cover all the important details. The most informative product review I have seen so far!
For the footage you shot on the Q3, did you record in L-log or use one of the profiles? I'm finding the profiles(NAT and STD) make skin look a bit odd but your footage looks good.
Seems like it still doesn’t implement back button focus “properly”. I rented a Q2 monochrom and that really messed me up. It’s a shame that they improved the autofocus but didn’t let you fix that focus and hold it over multiple frames.
At this price point, they absolutely should improve the finish on these. Look at any used Q2 and they all look like they were used in a war zone. Even the most gently used look beat up because the paint chips off so easily. Bodies should either be brass so it looks nice as it ages or anodized. Even my Eos R looks new still and it's been through everything. There's just no excuse I can find for the cheap finish.
The crop isn't a true 35mm. If the camera could do some kind of lens correction that would be amazing. At the moment I want this camera but with a 35mm lens and I want a Fuji x100 but full frame. So annoying neither give me what I want.
Rolex is far from perfect. It should be for the price and how little there is to it compared to the tech in this camera. This camera makes superb images whereas a Rolex doesn't even keep good time compared to basic Casio. It's a ridiculously expensive piece of jewellery considering that it's made with mostly cheap materials eg stainless steel, just with a famous name on it. @@markorchard2272
Chump change to MANY people? ok. But yes, the technology in this camera compared to, say, a Submariner is night and day. Not to mention the amount you'd pay in servicing for the sub. over it's/your lifetime.
I'm a little tired of hearing about how good the Q3 is!!! It frikkin' should be for £6000 FFS!!! I'm not belittling it - I'm sure it's great.... it damn well better be. But I'm sick and tired of seeing pros bang on to regular Joes about the 'awesomeness' of a £6k camera.
I agree with you 100%! After all, $6k should get you awesomeness! Still, I will say I have a hard time justifying the cost when I hear some explain the video limitations of the thing the previous model, (Q2), like auto focus (focus breathing), hand held video stabilization(jitter). For $6K I want superlative photos AND VIDEO, with no auto focus problems (at all) on every single squared up shot. I don’t want to hear, “it’s not a video camera”, or “a cell phone can tale better video”. I want to be consistently happy straight out of the camera with no or very minimal messing around to adjust on the PC afterwards. I am still considering but at the price this thing has to be my work horse and the only thing I’m going to need for everything I do. I don’t want to hear, “it’s too expensive to take just anywhere”.
I wish youtubers would just get into the meat and potatoes of the camera, the stuff everyone cares about: photo quality and compare side by side with same photo between Q2 and Q3. Just talking about the specs and reading them up has been done by 100s of youtubers already. we dont need yet another video like that. where are the actual reviews????

Also all the gushing praise and fawning over Leica - is that warranted or a little bit like the "everybody knows if you want to be a pro you need to shoot full frame" agenda. I dunno, I'm getting the feeling of 'The emperor has no clothes'. I suppose I'll never know because I wouldn't spend so much money on a camera body.
Some of us spend 2x-4x on property taxes and really what do you get for that? I’m no pro, just an enthusiast who has been shooting a D5 since the day it came out. The Q3 will make a nice “pocket” walk around compliment.
Unless you are a successful professional photographer, nobody is going to justify buying one of these. I had a Leica that I bought from Park Cameras and then sold it back a few weeks after, not worth it. Do videos about cameras that are worth buying. 👎🏻

I too don’t want to be sold on something and pay out of the nose for features I’d have to struggle to take advantage of and really isn’t even important to me. I want. A great camera to take everywhere with me. Opening myself up to the possibility of making money with the camera and then being able to use it for enjoyment or to record personal family moments is my interest but I don’t want to feel like you are describing if I ever purchased such an expensive piece of hardware. Could this have been the only camera you ever bought again? (I have to conclude no because you returned it), and yes I do think thats a fair question for this thing based on the cost. Your comment is profound and makes me pause to think about this more.

I love my Q2. I’m not sure how I feel about the rear LCD. IT takes away from the beautiful lines of the camera.

$6k is also chump change to many people. You will get more enjoyment out of this vs. dropping $6k-$10k on a Rolex…if you can find one at that price.

Leica should add different aspect ratio crop instead of the useless digital zoom … an xpan aspect ratio file would be a dream

Leicas colours are so stale!🤢.. and in dark conditions, q2 and q3 make much noise😬. And those spareparts, awfull expensive. Like battery for example..
