I started run/walking when I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2005. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. I inherited my father's heart disease. As a result, I had two heart attacks. The doctors told me that I would not have survived if it weren't for the work I put in to strengthen my heart. Running is what did it for me. I am continuing to run/walk as part of my training for the 2020 NYC Marathon. I encourage those who don't run to start slowly and remain consistent. You will get stronger and be able to run longer. I’m an overweight teenager that had just finished the football season...it doesn’t matter what day it is I go for two miles in less than 30 min some days may be 30 some others 25 min but it has really helped me mentally. I used to have panic attacks and if I’m going to be honest since I’ve started running my mind is clear and it helps me create goals...I’ve heard somewhere that remaining athletic can also boost your self esteem and my depressing thoughts have really gone away ever since...I’m picking up on weight workouts and hope to transform my body to a healthier state I’ve got issues that no teenager should go through but I sure asl won’t let that hold me down hope y’all can find time to run too challenge yourself and gl

This guy's personality intoxicating. Such a genuinely happy and positive guy. Very motivational. I desperately wish I could run. I just turned 40 and had a hip replacement last year. I still lift weights regularly and get cardio from an elyptical, but it's so boring and tedious that I don't look forward to it. Running is too high impact and painful after my surgery which really gets me down. I can no longer play the sports I loved dearly like basketball, football, or do martial arts and these are the things that helped me deal with depression and life. I have lost my cathartic outlets and it's very hard to replace them because of the limitations after my surgery.

Thank you for making this video. You probably won't see this, but recently I've been struggling when it comes to running. I was feeling sad about a lot of things at the time, and I mean I am still sad about quite a bit of things, but like you said running really helps you feel happy, and it does. I loved running so much that I joined programs, and elite clubs and into high school. But I got sad because Im not fast like a lot of people. I've been running with my teammates for a while, and I don't feel like I had improved, so it really struck me down. I always compared myself to my teammates and I felt embarrassed you could say, because I just couldn't keep up with them. And then I came to a point where I didn't want to run at all, it took me so much motivation to just go run once a week. And because I had let myself fall into that hole of me thinking I wasn't good enough, I felt even more sad.
But I really wanted to change that, so I've been trying now to change my habits and run everyday. This video was very inspiring to me, and it's really made me realize why I loved running in the first place. I hope to get back in shape like I use to be, if not better. Thank you so, so much for making this video. 💕

Hey Emily! Hate hearing that you've been down lately but I hope things turn around for you. One step at a time! I really think getting back to running again will help. It's so hard not to compare yourself to others - even I struggle with that sometimes - but we really need to only compete with ourselves. Even really slow progress is progress! I always say you should do your best for that day and that can be completely different than the day before or day after. Some days I can run 10 miles with no struggle and other days 7 miles is ROUGH for me! Our bodies and minds are so strongly connected, too, so thinking and speaking positively really help keep me going and pushing through my challenges. Thank you so much for subscribing! glad to have you here :)

Good stuff! I ran at least a mile daily for 602 straight days until an ankle injury forced me to stop in 2017. I still run and race (trail) regularly and have become an ultra marathoner. A friend was inspired by my running streak and has been running daily going on five years. We are both over 50 years old! Keep going!👍🏾

It's not good for your health when you want run and outside air stinks, because your neighbours use coal stoves. Appreciate that your air is clean and crisp. After few month I had to stop running because PM10 and PM2.5 standards are exceeded several times.

@@Dogspine1 I guess the guy's saying the air around his neighborhood is polluted and running outdoor does more harm than good. I do love running but I'm facing the same situation too as my city often ranks in the top ten of the most air-polluted cities in the world. So appreciate the air you have and go 🏃 🏃 🏃

ah so sorry to hear that. I would definitely avoid outdoor runs in that case. I do feel very fortunate for the air quality where I live allowing what I do to be possible
