    Very informative video and nicely done as well. Thank you for your time putting this together. We're leaning pretty hard into retiring there in about a year permanently. Looks like exactly where we'd like to spend our time. Dante and Fiona

      I have a fur baby "Earl" and he loves the water. He is a big 'ol sheep dog/ Irish Wolfhound/ Poodle mutt that although groomed short he gets hot easily. I am thinking splitting between PM &. QRO. By the way, I could not hear what they said about May -August water, will someone clarify for me? Cheers,

    I loved my 6 month stay in PM (except for the unfortunate accident of breaking my foot) and cant wait till Nov to come down for another 6 months.
    I stayed 3 blocks from the gelato place you showed in the video and went there all the time. The park looked very familiar also. Ah memories.

      Hi Jean - that was too bad about your foot. But wonderful to hear you are coming back for 6 months.
      Yes the gelato place is amazing and we love the cafe fríos there. Thanks so much for watching

    Funny, I'm retiring there soon because of the small town(but close to big cancun)and heat/humidity to keep my skin moist and not dry. 👍 When the beaches are full of sargazo, then it will be time to hit the cenotes or maybe a beach club in Isla mujeres or a trip up to bacalar where there is none. The riviera maya may not be as "Mexican" as other parts of the country because its a tourist attraction, but its "Mexican" enough for me. 🫶

    This answered some big questions I had. One is I need a small town feel. I'm definitely not into the city life. And the water is definitely no issue. I live in Texas, and the sediment makes the water murky. I like Puerto Morelos for a retirement destination. Thanks for the video.

    Another great video! We are so glad we are here and even though we have plans to stay in Cozumel next month are looking at coming back because we enjoy it so much. If the sargassum is bothering people a great alternative is to go get your scuba license the reef was great and sargassum floats 😁. We just completed it today and it was an amazing experience. On day two a manatee swam up to us the instructor said he had, in 7yrs, never seen one in PM so what a rare find. My neighbor here said that most of the population of PM (colonia) came here when they were building Cancun in the 70's. I thought that was an interesting piece of information and may account for the diversity of culture and food.

      @RickRackTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aww thanks for your comment Robert. So nice to hear you are enjoying Puerto Morelos! Wow - a manatee !! How amazing is that !?! We saw manatees only once so far in Mexico (in Sian Ka’an Reserve) Great advice on the scuba license ! Enjoy & viva la vida

    Interesting video, and a great way to tell people to come to the area and rent for a few months to see if you like it. That should be done wherever one thinks they would like to move to. None of the reasons are about PM being "bad", it's just not their cup of tea. I believe that it is a good location, having seen the different places you have visited, I also like the small town feel. The only thing keeping me from considering PM a place to move to is the humidity, which rules out the Yucatan peninsula for me, lol.

    Interesting perspectives from people you’ve spoke with. It sounds like my kind of town. I did enough bar hopping when I was young so not interested at 66. I would probably jump into immigrating like you, both feet first. Every time the Prime Minister up here opens his trap or poses for a photo op I feel like I’m going to 🤮! And it makes me want to make an appointment with the Mexican embassy in Toronto to get out of this place‼️

      Hi, there are many small boutique Hotels both on the Port Side and a couple in La Colonia if you are just staying a few nights. At this time of year it is low season so there should be lots of options on Airbnb at affordable prices. We usually use Airbnb when we travel. Both Cancun and Playa Del Carmen are about 25 to 30 minutes either way from PM. They are easily reached by the numerous Collectivo's that you can catch in front of the Chedraui parking lot and the other side of the road depending on which City you wish to go to. The cost is 30 pesos one way so it is very affordable.

    Hello great video, how's the medical access

    • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark, we have three Doctor's offices on the La Colonia side that offer normal GP access including XRay's for more complicated procedures there are specialist Doctor's that visit these offices on set days by appointment. For more complex procedures they are carried out in either Cancun or Playa Del Carmen both of which are approx half an hour away.

    Mayan coastline, including PM, seems to be dirtier than most places that we've visited. Litter and garbage strewn about and not picked up, especially when you get a little bit out of town. Could be wrong about that.. Difficult to make such a comparison.

    I don't like Puerto Morelos - too small for me! My husband loves it!
    UPDATE: I WILL EAT MY WORDS! I now love Puerto Morelos. We had a group of 15 (family) stay at The Fives. The beach, the people, the food, (all inclusive) everything was marvelous! Nearby Puerto Morelos, we rented a private cenote (all day) for our group. A buffet was made for us, where they served local traditional food from the area. El Pesquero Fish restaurant (5 stars) is to die for. It’s a must if you like fresh fish and alcohol! Snorkeling is within walking distance and our hotel provided transportation (for a fee) to go to other destinations. In a few months, we are taking friends so they can experience the magic of Puerto Morelos.

    Excellent video. I'm a new subscriber that is considering Puerto Morelos for my move to Mexico next year. I was glad to see this particular video to see if any of these things were deal breakers for me, and they're not! I thought I had settled on a west coast location but now am leaning toward the Quintana Roo area with PM at the top of my list. My first thought was Huatulco for great beaches and very safe and clean area, but I think it's too expensive to live and to travel to from east coast US. Also does not have much of the local feel, not as many small local eateries,etc. I want to be in a place that is easily walkable from where I live to some restaurants, grocery etc. Do they allow ATVs or scooters on the roads there? Will be reviewing your other videos now. Looking forward to my scouting trip in about six months. ☮️❤️😎

      Hi Pammy , welcome to our Channel and thank you for subscribing! PM is a lovely little Town and there are lots of scooters some ATV’s and increasing Golf Carts as well. Check out our other videos and hopefully they will give you a feel for both sides of the town and how far things are from the various neighborhoods. We live in La Colonia and have done for three years, we love it! We live in the Villas Uno part which is the closest to the town centre, shops, restaurants etc. Ricky
