      J Fu Got it all setup and hooked up. Had to delay it a bit as Amazon messed up the order and sent me connectors for 3/4” hookup. I do need to re-level it next spring as I placed it on a bed of packed sand where our old above ground pool had been.

    Just a helpful piece of info. If you find yourself like me and unable to secure a 2-3/4” hole saw (everywhere I went was sold out), a 2-5/8” will work perfectly and provides a tighter fit.

    Hi Ryan, a lot people been asking you about the missing part (outlet-fits in the bottom of tank) I had the same problem , the needed part is unavailable. So, here's what to do.
    Go to Pinch-a-Penny ,get item #04430070 (1 1/2 inlet FTTG w/loc , that what's written on the receipt) . Dont ask me what used for, but it comes with 3 rubber gaskets and will do the job of siphoning the water out just fine.Also you will need the fat kind of O ring that they sell at ACE hardware. You can use it like that or you can also get a - item #31776 (1 1/2 in sch40 street elbow) and screw it to the said part and face the elbow down, close to the bottom of the tank. The part from Pinch-a-Penny is threaded on the inside also. So there you go , Mouseketeers , go have some fun. PS - the part is made by HAYWARD and the # on the bag it comes in ,the label says- SP1023G cyc locknut ftg w/dbl gskt and I paid $15.99.

    Do not grab any metal after using the hole saw it will be really hot maybe douse it with some water. Also be careful when the pilot bit breaks through it could snap your wrist or break the bit if not prepared. I suggest making a pilot hole before using the hole saw to save any risk

    Hey there, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I have a question about other uses: how strong is the pull of that pump? Would this be safe for ducks, or would they get stuck on the inlet when they dive? Would the pump and filter be able to handle crud like they produce? I'm emptying and refilling mine to clean it at the moment and I'm researching alternatives! Thanks a whole lot! 😁

    • @sarahcharlton5450
      @sarahcharlton5450 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i am trying to do a stock tank with liner this year. How did you cut the liner and seal around inelt/outlet?

    • @kevins7410
      @kevins7410 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sarahcharlton5450 I put down the padding... I used a length of garden hose in the corners (might be overkill), taping it to keep it in place, then put in the liner. Once it was snug all over (there is an overlap t the top) I cut the liner to match the holes in the tank. The padding helps seal the inside, there is a washer for the outside.
      Tip: Be sure to have an extra regulator (they are cheesy and my first one leaked). O-ring lube helps the rubber washers stay pliable (I dismantle / bring in my pump each fall). Have fun!

    Hey man, thanks so much for posting this we are stoked! Are there any considerations for equipotential bonding or the like to divert electricity away from the pool and pump? Thanks for your help.

    • @stocktankpools4980
      @stocktankpools4980  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeremy Altfeder good question! If you have any metal or conducting material within reaching distance (or 6’) of your steel tank, you should bond it to that material using an 8 gauge wire. Or relocate the tank. The filter pump is designed for pools and has a GFI built into the plug. Bonding is an extra layer of safety, but is highly recommended.

  • @PhillipAlger

    So, I put together the entire thing (with Caulk) and it looks great. One final question though: have you experienced any rusting or corrosion with the chlorine? I am a bit concerned about that. I read some people coat the entire inside with Flex Seal to prevent corrosion. Does it work?
    Thanks again for the video! It was extremely helpful!

    • @stocktankpools4980
      @stocktankpools4980  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great question! I have been using 2-3 one inch tabs per week and haven't experienced any premature corrosion so far. This results in free chlorine levels at about the same level as our drinking water (1-4 PPM), so its enough to keep algae and bugs from growing, but its not offensive. That said, DO NOT let the chlorine tabs (or small pieces) fall on the bottom of the tank they will corrode it. I had one sit on the bottom for a day and it left a mark.

      @@stocktankpools4980 what should one do for existing rust spots before refilling? Just watch and swap for a new pool when it gets really bad? Or is there a way to treat? We had no issues in summer 1. This year we flipped to prep and refill there are a few rust spots. Will it cloud the water? So we just roll with it as these pools are somewhat temporary anyway? • @BrockGrimes
      @BrockGrimes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If i remember right the drain is a threaded 1" port so you'd need an adapter to neck it down to say garden hose size. From there a ball valve would work to control the drain. Screw in a hose, open the drain, done. But i'd have to see it to be sure. Depending on where you get the tank and who made it, it might vary..

  •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for this video! Could you please tell me what is the purpose of the inlet/valve combo you show? Does the Intex pump come without any valves? Meaning, am I supposed to just plug them directly to the pool? And why did you use a different brand? I'm a bit confused because later in the video you show a pair of Intex valves and toss one of them away...
    Also, what is the diameter of the hoses? I ordered the 2500 gph intex pump but can't find info on the hose size to buy all the other stuff before the pump arrives
    Thanks!

    • @stocktankpools4980
      @stocktankpools4980  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Alejandro! Good questions! The pump does not come with any valves, but they are strongly recommended to make it easier to change the filters (without getting water in your lap). The Bestway combo came with the threaded inlet strainer connector (the dark gray part) and one valve. However, I ordered a two pack of valves from Intex (I would have ordered a single pack but they weren't available at the time, but they are now). The pump does *not* come with the threaded inlet strainer, but it does come with the threaded outlet connector (this is the lighter gray part that jets into the pool). The hoses are the same diameter as your pump (1.5" diameter). The inlet strainer is currently sold out pretty much everywhere at the moment, but I'm working on manufacturing a replacement which should be available in a few weeks! Stay tuned!

    • @stocktankpools4980

      Aaron Wehrle thanks! I’d advise against painting anything on the inside of the pool, the galvanized zinc coating resists just about everything, including rust and paint. Others have done it and it just peels. They’re made for farms and farm animals so they’re pretty tough!
