For anyone reading this... You should have the inlet and outlet farther apart. Farther apart the better to help with proper circulation. Also, the fitting @ 4:29 is for aeration and should be on the outlet fitting not the inlet.
Hi! Thanks for this video. We just set ours up and we had our electrician come out and check the situation so he could quote us for a new outlet closer to the tank. He mentioned that by law, he'd have to ground and bond the pool since it's metal, however, the Intex pump (the one shown above and the same one we purchased) has no bonding circuit (circuit may not be the right thing to say, but basically the part of the filter that allows for bonding) because it's fully encased in plastic. Are we at risk of electric shock?!
It's awesome what you do however; I have bought a resin stock tank. I have not seen any videos on resin stock tanks. I am sure it's not much different, although it would be nice to see a video of such . Is there a video on resin stock tanks?
I think I'm confused about the need for the parts kit. We have an Intex 1000 that we've used with a vinyl above ground pool. It came with connections and valves that worked well for that pool. Will the ones that come in that box not work well for the stock tank for some reason? No issues with buying the parts if they're needed, but it feels like I'm missing something
Hi the extra inlet piece (link) is skinnier than the one in your video. I ordered from the link above and it doesnt seem to be the same in the video. Could you please link the one you used?
Not sure if your still active on these old videos, but I have a bestway spa pump/heater from one of their inflatable hot tubs. Would I still need a regular pump in conjunction with that?
I recommend applying a coat of clear Flex Seal to the inside of the tank. The steal will rust under certain water conditions such as pH levels of your local water.
We DO NOT recommend flex seal to use on the inside of stock tank pools. Flex Seal is not rated to be under water continuously. We have learned and several other stock tank pool users have learned that Flex Seal is a disaster for stock tank pools. But everyone loves to recommend stuff they've never tried.
I actually painted it first and used clear flex seal over it after curing. It's been a year and everything is great. My on my first project I used nothing and it was covered in rust on the inside after one year. Maybe the oil based paint is the real answer. But that combo has been very effective.
@@markgoodwin5074 Glad that's working for you. I did not have the same experience and have had many emails from people who also had bad experiences. Where the problem lies is if you get a tear or crack in the paint/Flex Seal combo water gets between the paint and the tank and rust forms that way. Also, if you look into whether or not Flex Seal is approved to be under water continuously- it's not. So for all of those reasons we do not recommend it. You're the first and only person I've ever heard who's had a good experience with Flex Seal inside their stock tank pool. So we will continue to not recommend it.
They are not "outlets" rather return fittings. And, yes another commented spread the dimension from the suction and return fittings. Also, marine sealant at the fittings. And, finally be mindful the suction line is VGB-compliant by perhaps splitting it into two lines, 3' apart minimum.
I’m confused as to why you didn’t order two kits. Or why the first kit didn’t come with two outlets. Or an inlet and outlet, and a second valve in the same kit.
I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe you can help. I put in a 6X2X2 stock tank for lounging in on hot day. As for heating it, how about just digging out a trench under it and building a small fire there? I'm aware of possible hotspots and such, but is the basic idea one that would work?
I have an Intex krystal clear model 633t filter pump. It pumps the water out in a gush then almost stops, then bubbles and water start flowing then gushes out again. I bleed the air like you do in your video from the filter tower. Don’t feel much suction from the inlet jet. HELP! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I live in Corpus Christi Texas. Do you come this far south?
My pump won’t fill with water. It sounds like a tank. Very loud. I used the shorter hose on the inlet and the longer hose on the outlet. I also fiddled with the plunger valve on the outlet(top) adjusting it to get more water in the pump. Even my electrician hubby couldn’t get it working better.
after 1 year stock tank began to rust and the seams began to bulge and leak do all brands of stock tanks have this issue and if so which brands do not rust or have seams bulge?

tractor supply Co, possibly also harbor freight or northern tools. composite , plastic version exist and don't tend to have the zinc coating some metal livestock tanks have . weigh less can last longer . Amazon had stock tanks at 1 point . index is a very reliable brand for filters and hoses etc.
I did this install using the pump on the links above. The pump runs loud. Has anyone else observed this? I think it is the reducer found in the inlets that connects to the larger diameter hoses. Does anyone have solutions to this? Also, I did bleed the pump.
That is why with a traditional "in-ground" pool pump is always away from the pool. All pool pumps make noise, having it right next to tank pool means you will hear it. I would suggest using a time clock to run the pump at night when the pool is not being used. You can also build a box with insulation to mitigate some of the noise but remember that the pump motor still needs to breath to dissipate the heat it creates when it is running...
We have a pre-sale going on for a kit with the pump and all parts here- www.stocktankpoolauthority.com/all/pre-order-sand-pump-kit Other than that, you just have to check everyday and hope one comes available. But even then, prices won't be going down until Winter.

This seems like a cool idea of the problem is the price stock tanks are super expensive and obviously why would anybody choose this I mean I guess they would if it was not as expensive but for what they charge for a small 8 ft stock tank how can you guys say it's worth buying because if you buy a regular size stock tank the size of a big pool you're going to be paying probably about 10 grand my guess. I'm new to all this so forgive my ignorance just tell me how this compares to a real above ground pool
He hee i love my 100 gal Rubbermaid stock tank ITs only 100 gal. but why waste water by draining it 👀where i can filter it 👍👍 I 'AM HILLBILLY UPTOWN NOW 🤣🤣
I like your video but with hearing problems it's really hard to hear what your saying with the music constantly playing. I would rather hear what you say than listen to music.
The starter hole keeps the hole saw from “walking” and insures you’re drilling exactly where you want. Keeps you from having to apply pressure, possibly denting the metal. The built in drill works great in wood. Not as well in metal.
For anyone reading this... You should have the inlet and outlet farther apart. Farther apart the better to help with proper circulation. Also, the fitting @ 4:29 is for aeration and should be on the outlet fitting not the inlet.
Absolutely love your stock tank pool videos and with revisions. Dollar for dollar, one can't beat a stock tank pool.
HUGE SHOUT OUT JANICE IS AMAZING AND HELPED MY GIRLFRIEND AND I OVER THE PHONE. She rocks!!!!!
I know a contractor here in Houston that does a great job installing these!
Thank you for this video! I created our own stock tank for our dogs and your video made it so easy to do!

I need help finding an Amazon link to the inlet piece that did not come with our pump. Much appreciated.

Do you recommend painting the inside or using one of those liners?
What is the best way to keep it having that light blue look?

I live in Crowley Texas, I need one so bad
Good video. Is there a way to get everything needed in one order just like this video? We are going to shop for tanks this weekend. Thank you. Cheers!
How did your install go. Still happy with it after three years?
Hey do you do these in Live oak Florida
They are not "outlets" rather return fittings. And, yes another commented spread the dimension from the suction and return fittings. Also, marine sealant at the fittings. And, finally be mindful the suction line is VGB-compliant by perhaps splitting it into two lines, 3' apart minimum.
Drilling a smaller pilot hole will give you better results when drilling your larger hole.
Apparently you didn't watch the video
I did exactly that
Does the same installation and tools work on the poly STP’s?
Where did you get the washer you show at 6:04? It's not in the parts kit I ordered from your link.
I just updated the supply list to include this! Don't know how I missed putting that in there.
@@StockTankPool thank you
Anyone ground/bond their stock tank pool?
Plugging directly into a GCFI outlet but wanted to double check.
Great video. It would be nice if you monitored the comments and replied to questions.
Where do you get this piece???
Where do you buy this pump?
I’m confused as to why you didn’t order two kits. Or why the first kit didn’t come with two outlets. Or an inlet and outlet, and a second valve in the same kit.
How much do you all charge to install one ?
Is there any way to get a list of what you used and how to order it?
We have list of everything we used in the description box.
I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe you can help. I put in a 6X2X2 stock tank for lounging in on hot day. As for heating it, how about just digging out a trench under it and building a small fire there? I'm aware of possible hotspots and such, but is the basic idea one that would work?
😂😂😂
How would you recommend finding someone to hire to install this for me? We live in Charleston, South Carolina
Does it stay cool?
Is it ok to not let the silicone cure before adding water?
you definitely want it to dry at least!
@@StockTankPool i didn't give it any time to cure.. and it seems to be doing fine! lucky me. thank you for putting this info online!
What keeps water cool
Wrong link for Rubber washer. I ordered them and they are too small. The rest is perfect. Thanks
Same steps with a poly tank? Non metal
How deep is the pool?
I have the air jet valve on top piece, should I leave cap on bottom and off the top one ?
I am curious about this too!
@@tylerobrien6776 Tyler, I did leave the cap on the bottom and took top off. works great
yes! If the water drips on the top, just put the cap on when not using the pump.
I have a buddy who doesn’t have a pump and works just fine

Mine does this too!!!!
@@MsIsla1 let me know if you find the cure, I’ll do the same.
Do you need to change the filter?
No on the filter change. I change it monthly and the pump does the same thing if the filter is new or not

The stock tanks are made in China. That’s why they rust.
I still have stock tanks from the 80s and none of them rust heavy duty American made
Why do you not suggest using extension cord long term?
Also. Double question! I have an Intex 10” sand filter and the thing with the cap is on my inlet nozzle not my outlet strainer. Is that weird?
It's a safety recommendation from the pump manufacturer.

They sell them at Tractor Supply. Looks like the closest one to Miami is maybe in Doral

What size were those holes drilled ?
Standard for intex fittings is 2-3/4"
You get the extra pieces and list what I should ask for. Tx U.
Wouldn't it be easier, cheaper, and function better if you just bought some cheap above ground pool?
It sure would. But not everyone has the space for an above ground pool and/or not everyone likes the way an above ground pool looks.
Why no links to pump/parts used?

Does the pump stay on 24/7?
No! Only 2-4 hours/day
