But even if you were hearing both for the first time it's still OK if you prefer the older one. That does not mean that the new one is bad.
Also it's ok to love both versions. Some people act like if you like one version then you must dislike or even hate the other one and that's not true

We all know he cheated on her multiple times and it's not a happy marriage where they will stick by each other no matter what. They even separated for a while. The women in the view are correct that the next level should be "Jolene, please come take my man". I prefer Beyonce's energy in "irreplaceable". That was more empowering than this.
I don't think the original was anti-feminist either. It was a sad reality that women all over the world had to live in, and singing about such realities doesn't mean it's anti-feminist. In fact, pretending that we have everything handled, like in Beyonce's song, is even more dangerous for young women.

Depends on your state. In FL, sadly, women couldn't own property until the 1980s.

The original version is a beautiful work of art, this copy is nothing like it and should not even be recorded but since it is take it for what it is. And there was nothing antifeminist about the first song, it's about a human emotion in a fictitious story sung by an amazing female voice.

My reason for disliking this song is I think she is stepping on the toes of a new black country group who wrote their own song in response to Jolene, “You Can Have Him, Jolene”. The group is Chapel Hart and the performed it in Americans Got Talent 2022. Did” “B” rewrite these words on this song after hearing Chapel Hart? Seems like she is successful enough to have allowed this new Group, which is actually breaking into country music as a honestly country act, to have the spotlight with an updated reaction of Jolene. Just my opinion
