Found this after Googling. Seems it wasn't a right enshrined federally until then: "It wasn’t until 1974, when the Equal Credit Opportunity Act passed, that women in the U.S. were granted the right to open a bank account on their own. Technically, women won the right to open a bank account in the 1960s, but many banks still refused to let women do so without a signature from their husbands. This meant men still held control over women’s access to banking services, and unmarried women were often refused service by financial institutions."
I prefer Chapel heart you could have him, Jolene , they are a group a young of African-American women please check them out, they may not have Beyoncé‘s money but they’re excellent
If you have ever heard Dolly tell the story, it's a fictional story written about a real situation. She tells the story with lots of humor as Dolly does laughing and saying "this red headed hussy at the bank flirting with her man" Doesn't mean she begged him to stay or not to stray. She's Dolly. She doesn't have to beg any man. Let's get real.
All Beyonce did was react to the Grammy's. "You don't want to give me a regular Album of the year. Just wait. I am going to go and get a bunch of country folks, put them on an album. My Beehives will take it to number 1 without one country person buying the album. And guess what? You will have a harder time refusing me the Album of the year award next year."
Wait wait! In 1973 women couldn’t have their own bank accounts? That’s not true. Women in the US and Canada could open their own accounts in the 1960s. It was loans and credit cards that became available for women to apply for without a male co-signer in 1974.
Did we have this kind of pushback when the late Whitney Houston redid Dolly Parton’s “I will always love you “. I don’t remember whether we made a big deal about that or not. Senior Moment
The original version is a beautiful work of art, this copy is nothing like it and should not even be recorded but since it is take it for what it is. And there was nothing antifeminist about the first song, it's about a human emotion in a fictitious story sung by an amazing female voice.
My reason for disliking this song is I think she is stepping on the toes of a new black country group who wrote their own song in response to Jolene, “You Can Have Him, Jolene”. The group is Chapel Hart and the performed it in Americans Got Talent 2022. Did” “B” rewrite these words on this song after hearing Chapel Hart? Seems like she is successful enough to have allowed this new Group, which is actually breaking into country music as a honestly country act, to have the spotlight with an updated reaction of Jolene. Just my opinion

Thank you, I'm from NJ & NY. Getting credit was never a problem.
Found this after Googling. Seems it wasn't a right enshrined federally until then:
"It wasn’t until 1974, when the Equal Credit Opportunity Act passed, that women in the U.S. were granted the right to open a bank account on their own.
Technically, women won the right to open a bank account in the 1960s, but many banks still refused to let women do so without a signature from their husbands. This meant men still held control over women’s access to banking services, and unmarried women were often refused service by financial institutions."
@@TheKayleeanna This is not true at all!
Women could have a bank account in 70s... gee whiz!
Fighting another woman over a man isn’t sending a good message. I prefer Chapel Hart’s version “You can have him Jolene!”
I agree! Hey … let me call Uber to get him out sooner. And don’t call me when he gets to your place! 😂😂😂😂
Beyonce's voice is so beautiful, especially in the remake of Jolene.
🤮
Her voice is very nice and soothing. Dolly's voice is powerful and incomparable! Blessings!
oh joy is eating all this up lol
I prefer Chapel heart you could have him, Jolene , they are a group a young of African-American women please check them out, they may not have Beyoncé‘s money but they’re excellent
Stop tryna make this song the next I will always love you. Whitney was next level
Personally, I love Chapel Hart's You can have him Jolene ❤️
All Beyonce did was react to the Grammy's. "You don't want to give me a regular Album of the year. Just wait. I am going to go and get a bunch of country folks, put them on an album. My Beehives will take it to number 1 without one country person buying the album. And guess what? You will have a harder time refusing me the Album of the year award next year."
Beyoncés rendition carries the same spirit of Shirley Brown's Woman to Woman.
No one did it better than Miley Cyrus!
I agree
Someone said there was some pushback but obviously it didn’t stick.
The original version is a beautiful work of art, this copy is nothing like it and should not even be recorded but since it is take it for what it is. And there was nothing antifeminist about the first song, it's about a human emotion in a fictitious story sung by an amazing female voice.
Yh and proceeded to beg that same female as if that would stop her from taking the man if she really wanted to. It’s a waste of effort
Um... ever heard of a story? It's fiction!
