Whoopi can be deliberately dense... When you think country, you dont think of the manu back artists that are in the genre. They are not celebrated nearly enough and Beyonce is making the country music stop and recognise them
So now there has to be a quota on how much an artist is celebrated based on the color of their skin not on how good their song is? If it’s good music and it sells or an artist fills stadiums they will be celebrated.
@@richardlug6139 How could it be that simple if black country artists aren't even taken seriously or let into these spaces... the whole point is that they are purposely ostracized. Beyonce got so much backlash from her CMA performance that they removed it from the internet even though it was their highest viewed video and highest rated award show BECAUSE of her. People in the audience have spoken about the outlandish and racist remarks they heard being said about Beyonce while she was on that stage.

She is the 1st every genre artist you have ever seen she truly is the queen she was raised in the deep south what do you want from the lady? The music is great and the doubters know it
I don’t know why genre bending in music is such a big deal. Charley Pride and Darius Rucker have been making country music for decades. Tim McGraw once duetted with Nelly and hit the Black chart. Barry Manilow released a jazz album in the 1980’s. Taylor Swift has moved from Country to Pop and has done quite well. Dolly Parton rocked out. Even Pat Boone released a heavy metal album during his career. Just accept the music as it is. Artists like to expand their repertoires and try different styles. It doesn’t mean they are abandoning or betraying their fan base. It’s simply a matter of reaching beyond and recording what they feel. In the case of Beyoncé, she is talented enough to be a success even if she sang the phone book! Embrace her or don’t buy the product. Criticizing her choice should not be an option.

Maybe I'm crazy but lately for months now Sunny and Whoopi seem to have some low-key drama popping up these days. You can just see the irritation they have with one another on the screen and I really think it's because Whoopi is just not radical enough for sunny these days.
I think it's difficult for Sunny because she wants to show Whoopi the respect she deserves as her elder and moderator but Whoopi is so woefully ill prepared for the topics while Sunny does a lot of homework on the topics before coming on air, causing Sunny to have to walk a tight rope of both delivering the information while not making Whoopi look ignorant. It's a balance she tries to maintain, but doesn't always get right, which then frustrates Whoopi. Just how I see it 🤷♂️
Some artists are versatile and she is one of them. Beyoncé is an entertainer. There’s a difference she’s playing different thing on a TV show back in the day when he was a little girl. The show was called star search .
Once again... Beyoncé has started conversations that needed to be had. It would be nice if she could do a promo run like back and the day, but she's bigger than life and now has the power to do whatever she wants with her projects. We will have to wait until she speaks out about this. I could be soon or years later.
There are MANY black country stars that Sunny should take a listen to: KANE BROWN, JIMMIE ALLEN, ALLISON RUSSELL, AMYTHYST KIAH, BRITTNEY SPENCER, SHY CARTER, BRELAND, THE WAR AND TREATY, MICKEY GUYTON, BLANCO BROWN, WILLIE JONES, YOLA just to name a few. BUT, where are the ASIAN country stars?
Why suggest what artists Sunny or any other host should listen to. She might know the names of black country music artists but not be a fan like she is of hip-hop music.
I grew up on country music but there was also soul r&b rap blues jazz gospel and blue grass people should really take time to listen to all music I promise you will find something you will like in all
I think most people are missing the point. I believe that what Beyoncé is showing is that no matter your race, culture, skin tone or believes, if you are talented and have the desire, you can do whatever art you want. Beyoncé can do country as anyone could do. Like Sarah said, Country is a mixing pot of cultures. Not just white, not just black. It is not about reclaiming country music to black people. It´s reclaiming it to everyone.
Sunny Hootie and The Blowfish was huge in your day lol Old Town Road was…HUGE. Nellys country song was an instant hit. Like yall please let’s ignore these people who really have zero say in what’s what anymore.

Beg your bitter pardon, Country music fans helped make it number one!!! Country music fans come in all types of people. Where you getting this mess from? Most are throwing all kinds of sugar on it hunny”””. Because it’s a real live boogie and a real live hoe-down!!!!! Stop being a batch and take it to the floor now!!!
Finally the View has mentioned Beyonce! she's only been number one on the country charts for the past six weeks!!! She actually made it in February during Black History Month!! (2 black women sitting at this table just now mention Beyonce's name-Shame!!)
It is a little annoying that beyoncé can just record one country album and now she's a country star. I think it's unfair to black country artists who try but unfortunately are not a media construct like her and aren't able to get that kind of recognition. Kind of reminds me of when Madonna just randomly decided to put out a country album.
Why not call out the country music industry then? What are they doing as an industry to promote and help upcoming black artists in their genre? Are they giving radio airtime to black artists? Are bona fide country artists giving them opportunities to be introduced to their audiences? Dr. Dre signed Eninem - initial resistance, yes until people heard the music. Motown signed Teena Marie - there’s not a family reunion that doesn’t have Square Biz on the playlist. And let’s not forget Bobby Caldwell, What You Won’t Do for Love When the Apollo theater tribute took place in 85, there were 2 white artists that performed - George Michael age 21 (personally requested by Stevie Wonder) and Boy George in an arena that’s known for being hallowed ground for black performers. After the program aired, George Michael said that their album sales increased and they gained valuable radio time on black stations. Robin Thicke used to be Mary J Blige’s opening act. That’s recognizing talent and giving artists exposure to an audience that they might not have access to. I think it’s unfair to say that she’s taking someone’s opportunity away from them. Didn’t she earn her success? Ray Charles recorded several country albums and is in the Country Hall of Fame, but I doubt that most people would refer to him to a country singer right off the bat. And he was already a R&B, Blues legend when the first album came out. Hopefully this will help black country artists in the long run. There’s no hard and fast rule stating that there’s only room for one star.
Yall forget… Beyonce is as big as she is 27 years later is because she has lots of loyal fans! She can do any genre of music and her Fans trust that she’ll keep them Entertained because that’s the type of person she is!
I’m so glad she corrected her to say that black ppl started county in the renaissance era.. she has a timeline of music that she’s finna show the world who really started all of this

The Black group The Pointer Sisters won a Grammy for writing a Country song back in the 1970's "Yes, We Can Can." Charley Pride was the biggest Black Country star in the 1970's. He had many number #1 Country Songs. Recently, Darius Rucker crossed over to Country as a solo artist from Hootie & the Blowfish.
Charlie Pride was one of the most followed In Ireland with Johnny cash and our own Ireland country music singer big Tom they were and still are the big three still played on radio
They may have passed on those three were amazing
I am old enough to remember when they complained about Ray Charles doing his country & western album. It was one of the best c&.w. of that Era. The early sixties with hippies leading our generation.
Whoopi should have let Sunny finish her point i don't why she interrupted her. Thank you, Sunny you always on point.
Whoopie has an earpiece where she listens to mgmt telling her what to do. She has explained more than once that she's told when to step in.
@@TunenineI don’t buy it. Whoopi’s a bully and routinely cuts Sunny off sometimes after Sunny utters 2 sentences. She’s cuts Alyssa off more now as well.
@@Chillhard Nobody cares what you don't buy. Get over it.
Isn’t that what’s Whoopi is known for dismissing ppl and only wants to hear herself
@@OneLoveRSR You cared enough to post that unserious comment Sparky.
Speak on it Sunny!!! We love to hear it
It will bring country to a whole new audience. I’ve been a house/dance music fan since a kid, the first renaissance album brought house music to a whole new crowd. Everyone wins
This is just wild, music doesnt have any boundaries in my opinion!
This is just insane and i’ve been streaming Texas hold’em non stop.
I’m excited for a Beyoncé rock album
Sarahs explanation of origin of Country music gave me chills, thanks for giving that context
Whoopi we are not recognized for Country Music.
We don't recognize it ourselves. Why aren't the BET awards promoting black country artists? Why are we always blaming white people when our community isn't even doing anything ourselves?
BEYONCE is House music BEYONCE is Country music BEYONCE is Rock and Roll 😎❤🙏
I actually like the song and they came up with a step to it. Kudos to Beyonce.
Whoopi can be deliberately dense... When you think country, you dont think of the manu back artists that are in the genre. They are not celebrated nearly enough and Beyonce is making the country music stop and recognise them
perfect explanation. Whoopi is being deliberately dense!
That's what Sunny was trying to say and she cut her off. You are right.
Time for her to go.
Comments that Beyonce should not be allowed in country music kind of fall flat on their face when one realizes she was born and raised in Texas. Zeesch.
She's a country artist she's an r&b artist she's an Opera singer, she sings in different languages, she sings gospel, she sings blues, she raps she does pop she does rock.
They're so late... the songs been viral and #1 around the world for like a month now
Right?? Too busy talking about President Trump
Not the album cover
This is a boomer show give them a minute 🙂
Around the world? You mean in the US? Definitely not worldwide.
She just posted the album cover. They're not late.
Let’s not forget who STARTED country music!!
Jimmie Rodgers, Ernest Stoneman and Carter Family.
Definitely not Beyonce
@@icantwiththis He didn’t say that Beyonce did, he said, “Let’s not forget who STARTED country music.” Because Black people started country music. Do your research!
@@icantwiththisComprehension skills matter🥴🥴🥴🥴!!!!
Well said Sunny, it's not appropriate to tell people which space they belong in. Can we all agree it's not cultural appropriation from Beyonce in the way Justin Timberlake wasn't guilty of cultural appropriation when he was accused? Can we drop the accusations of cultural appropriation, as we live in a melting pot, and everything belongs to everyone?
Do what you're capable of doing! And APPLAUD those who have the courage to go for what they want! Life is short y'all be AMAZING!
They all have amazing points.
Beyonce .. we are Houston Proud. ❤❤❤
Baaabae! I got my boots and dukes ready!
As you should 😂

Beyoncé , she is one of the greatest of greatest, she is a legend, she is multi talented and multi skilled, she is extremely and exceptionally talented, she is over the arts of music 🎶!!!, and her country music song 🎵 🎶 Texas Hold 'Em, will stay at the top forever!!!My dear Beyoncé, Truly, Truly, Truly You nailed it . May God blesses you and your beautiful family.
Beyoncé is just looking for hit songs. Trust and believe. Financial success is her primary motivation.
You are so ridiculous. She and her husband are BILLIONAIRES. SHE'S ALREADY FOUND A WHOLE BUNCH OF MONEY!!!!!
Look up Rissi Palmer if you want an example of an incredibly talented black female country artist that never got her flowers.
Charlie Pride would be confused by this whole discussion.
Why is that ! He was one of a few blacks in the line of country genre, then came Darius, Mickie Guyton etc..
@@joannebaker4925 many people didn't know he was black! Back in the olden days lol!
@@joannebaker4925 Because the vibe I'm getting is that Black people are foreign to country music. They've been there all along.
3 black country singers out of 24,000?
R U confused? Don't forget RAY CHARLES!!!!!!!
The genius of American Music, his biggest seller was
Modern Sounds of Country and Western in 1962!
@@audreycampbell9483 I did. I'll regardless to what others might think 🤔 as a little black girl I grew up loving music to include country. I would watch all of the award shows. I knew who Charlie Pride was because he was the only well known one at the time. In the 80's it was Cleve Francis. I remember singing to Conway Twitty, Oakridge Boys, Barbara Mandrell, Glen Campbell, Larry Gatlin & Gatlin Brothers, George straits, Trisha Yearwood, Brooks & Dunn etc...Then there was Darius Rucker from Hootie & Blowfish. Then came Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, Britney Spencer & Willie Jones etc.. Music is universal.Universal. It's funny when Taylor did the change up from country to pop, no one expressed such outrage or anger but it just seem tp me that whenever a black person enters a space where others think they shouldn't be for whatever reason,it becomes an issue. It's the same issues in Nascar.
Be mad all day long. We love Cowboy Carter & will always have her back ❤❤❤❤❤
PERIOD
Beyoncé is from Texas. She is COUNTRY!!
MY WORDS EXACTLY!!!
I am 70 yrs.i could not wait for my mom to go to work cause I got depressed listening to the blues.i turned the radio to country music. I watched Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner on tv ,and radio ,Patsy Cline., Johnny Cash all of the greatest in country music. I was condemed and put down for loving this music, What took so long???
I love how yall in the comments are listing black men in country who have been accepted because they have white spouses. This is an unapologetically proud southern black woman who came in with country outcasts and gave the CMAS their highest ratings of ALL TIME.
I've never been a beyonce fan, but this is a friggin tune 👌🏻🔥
Genuinely feel like it's cheered the world up abit, leave politics out of it, the world needed a feel good song and dang she delivered 😂🔥👌🏻❤️
Beyonce has started the conversation!
The luminati always put her at number one.
Whoopi Goldberg: "and that's the key she can do it all now all of the folks who are fetching and bitching about it can you do it? I don't know that you can" 💯
People can be mad all they want… the song is great and the album is going to make history wether they like it or not. This is the most excited I’ve ever been for a Bey album, I’m a fan of country music and I’m a fan of all music. Congrats on the #1 and i can’t wait to see what Beyonce does next!
Whoopi always brings a conversation down
Any artist can perform any kind of music they want to. And some do it better than others.🤩🤩
Just remember Beyoncé is from Texas to all the little beaches saying Beyoncé “isn’t a country artist” … she has the credentials because she is from the country where country is countried.
Can't wait for this album and to see the artists involved ❤
Country and Western stems from Blues being sung by the enslaved in the fields during antebellum times. As it is with Rhythm and Blues which became Rock and Roll
This is random but me and my friend were in the grocery store this morning and guess what came on Beyoncé Texas Hold “EM”well of Course I broke out in my happy dance and told one of the workers in there y’all go it going on up in here,Beyonce. I love it I love it I love it !!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🐝🐝🐝🐝💫✨ 6:43
I just don’t understand what the point of the show is if we can’t be real. There were people with beards and gray hair harassing The Little Mermaid not too long ago. Grown men. Why ask why ?
It's so American though, to actively ignore the fabric of its foundation, racism.
it isnt a country song. its a great dance which took it viral. love it
Maybe I'm crazy but lately for months now Sunny and Whoopi seem to have some low-key drama popping up these days. You can just see the irritation they have with one another on the screen and I really think it's because Whoopi is just not radical enough for sunny these days.
Sometimes Whoopi cuts off Sunny’s points. As a moderator, there has to be a balance between being heard and letting others be heard.
Just how I see it 🤷♂️
I’ve noticed it for a while now. Whoopi is a bully and routinely cuts Sunny off. She’s beginning to cut Alyssa off more too.
Radical huh? Thats what Sunny is?
Whoopi is not “radical” enough for Sunny in what way? Whoopi is an irrational bully who can’t admit when she’s wrong.
& this is why beyonce doesn’t need to do interview anymore people speak for her and give her the promo she needs for free 👏🏻
Exactly!!!
The “Spanish” effect of the vaqueros?? lmaoo. You mean MEXICAN effect?? vaqueros are Mexican, matadors are Spanish
🙄
Tell em!!
@user-hq6hb2xv4n Exactly! There is nothing Mexican or Texan about Vaqueros.
Ray Charles did a Country album and it hit the charts. Some others after and so on.
I am so happy for Beyonce.
A young black country artist won the voice🎉
Get 'em, Bey. I hope she graces that CMA podium with another ground-breaking performance for the haters to gloat on greatness
Some artists are versatile and she is one of them. Beyoncé is an entertainer. There’s a difference she’s playing different thing on a TV show back in the day when he was a little girl. The show was called star search .
Sometimes it would be nice to hear Alyssa finish her sentences
That will never happen
That canary yellow is bold beautiful and fabulous!
Agreed about the history of country music. 🎵 Yet can we get rid of the word “melting pot” ❤
Ion care if she's a country artist, I'm gonna stream the album just because people hating! Im not even a huge fan but I love the music she makes.
Facts. Buying 4 copies!!!!!
Whoopi contradicts herself in every sentence and has no idea what she is talking about
Omg thank you. How are the producers not seeing this? Time for her to go away.
She's old, and she hates Sunny.
Once again... Beyoncé has started conversations that needed to be had. It would be nice if she could do a promo run like back and the day, but she's bigger than life and now has the power to do whatever she wants with her projects. We will have to wait until she speaks out about this. I could be soon or years later.
I’m of Mexican descent and anyone who wears that cowboy hat is from the Mexican culture and I hope we can be happy and accept.
The Asian country stars better step up and represent.
Why suggest what artists Sunny or any other host should listen to. She might know the names of black country music artists but not be a fan like she is of hip-hop music.
African Americans are at the invention of the genre yet their contribution has been largely erased. What Sunny said is absolutely on point.
doesn't anyone remember Niel Mcoy? He's Philino and was a big hit
Sunny always makes everything about race... 🙄
And I hope she gets a Grammy of some sort this song❤
Charley pride arron Neville
Ooohhh, I didn’t know that. I’m looking forward to Beyoncé and ROCK. Rock n roll is my jam.

It's called being a one-upper.
That is the point. And an artist of Beyoncé caliber has certainly earned the right!!!!
Sunny Hootie and The Blowfish was huge in your day lol Old Town Road was…HUGE. Nellys country song was an instant hit. Like yall please let’s ignore these people who really have zero say in what’s what anymore.
Exactly. Kane Brown is country music star as well. Justin Timberlake had a hit Spanish song with Romeo Santos, yet he wasn't recognized. Sunny is trippin on useless hate
Here we go all around the mulberry bush
Apparently you didn’t pay attention to the topic or you want an excuse to beat up on Sunny. The topic was about *Beyonce* and the negative reactions to her country album.
@@ChillhardI do enjoy checking some of her lazy commentary but if YOU were paying attention to what she said I was correcting a small point that III wanted to expand on. Stay tuned for another opportunity to try that.
Alyssa speaks volumes!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Promise it wasn’t country fans that made it number one.
And that's totally fine.
I think it's everyone making it number one. Educate yourself on the history of country music because it has roots in African American culture going back hundreds of years.
Number one is number one😉 doesnt matter to the colour of the hand picking up the phone to request it or clicking to download😂😂
From the stable genius without a single fan(follower)😂
Beg your bitter pardon, Country music fans helped make it number one!!! Country music fans come in all types of people. Where you getting this mess from? Most are throwing all kinds of sugar on it hunny”””. Because it’s a real live boogie and a real live hoe-down!!!!! Stop being a batch and take it to the floor now!!!
Beyonce has definitely proven the best revenge is success
Finally the View has mentioned Beyonce! she's only been number one on the country charts for the past six weeks!!! She actually made it in February during Black History Month!! (2 black women sitting at this table just now mention Beyonce's name-Shame!!)
WHOOPI " hair banging ' tho ! : - )
It is a little annoying that beyoncé can just record one country album and now she's a country star. I think it's unfair to black country artists who try but unfortunately are not a media construct like her and aren't able to get that kind of recognition. Kind of reminds me of when Madonna just randomly decided to put out a country album.
Might give other black artists a boost.
@@JP-lu9edit won’t!!! This is all fake! That’s what bothers people
@@javiruiz8365 It's already been reported that other Black country artists saw a boost in streams after Bey's song dropped.
And let’s not forget Bobby Caldwell, What You Won’t Do for Love
When the Apollo theater tribute took place in 85, there were 2 white artists that performed - George Michael age 21 (personally requested by Stevie Wonder) and Boy George in an arena that’s known for being hallowed ground for black performers.
