    I bought a brand spanking new 996SPS (#497) in 1999 :) Rode the hell out of it on the road and at track, crashed it twice, fixed it twice, tracked it some more. It got stolen and I got another 1999 996SPS (#337) used. Life went on, I sold it to a friend and went into mountain biking. 15 years on, my friend wanted to know if I wanted my bike back. Although I had a 1098S at that time (and still do), of course I wanted the SPS back. Now, #337 is going to be with me forever

      Where are you located? I’m in Ontario Canada now but the SPS is in storage in North Idaho. I used to ride it a lot in the canyons of Southern and Central California in my youth. It sat in our living room for about 5 years before we moved back to where my wife is from. I’m tempted to dig it out as I’m technically retired, less the website

    Just brought myself a 748sp , don't see many of them either. i think any of the Tamburini designed bikes from 95 to 02 are becoming collectable. By far the best looking bike of the last few decades.

      Very rare bird, congrats on your find. Yes Ducati made a 748 SP/SPS variant and a 748R. They were built for the same purpose as their larger brother, for homologation info SuperSport. The rules are similar to SuperBike racing.

    The SPS had SPS cams, also called T1 cams, not the G cam as you state. The G cam came in the earlier 916 SP and 916 SPA variants

    my frame no. starts with 'ZDMH' - it's a biposto base model, not an SPS

    • @emppowersportsandmarine6270
      @emppowersportsandmarine6270  ปีที่แล้ว

      What year is it? That could be correct on a very early 916, but later 916 and 996 bio-posto’s, mono-posto and S should be ZDM1SB.

    • @emppowersportsandmarine6270
      @emppowersportsandmarine6270  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know of a 2001 996R in California with a bio-posto rear end. My buddy Mike modified it when we were in our 20’s but also has his correct mono posto subframe and carbon fiber tail section. Are you sure your rear end was not down graded, on a higher spec bike? Was your frame replaced?

      @emppowersportsandmarine6270  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty sure it is, not sure if brand. I did have a painter refinish call my carbon pasts years ago. He could have swapped the airbox. I’m the only tech to work on this bike in the past 15 years. I noticed that decal on the air box and scratched my head but am fairly sure that it is original to this SPS

    Mine is a MY 2000 #1444 996 SPS living in the UK. Carbon tank, fairing panels, air tubes, swing arm protection, clutch cover, front sub-frame, engine breather box, instrument pod, cowl and filler cap. 70mm full system, slipper clutch and quick-shifter.
    It is quite a handful on the road as it is hopeless below 70 mph.
    I will take it to the Donington circuit (UK) in July with my very different 748 RS and see how I get on in Fast Group.

    • @vanduc996
      @vanduc996 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A 70mm exhaust system on an SPS?! That’s a massive exhaust given the WSBK bikes of the 996 era were only running 57mm systems
