This was very professional, and you really get to know the car with your review, I didn't even mind you saying 'Opel' - thanks, you may have actually made up my mind on this car. thanks very much.
Thanks guys. I bought this model today based on your review. Very comprehensive. Your English is great. When you make mistakes it adds humour! Thanks again!!
I am from the US and the version we get of this car is a Buick Verano. Unfortunately a second generation is not coming here but instead will be replaced with an SUV. Quite frankly I love this car and find it very reliable and receive compliments on it even as it is now over 5 years old. I have owned many cars through my life, with saying that it is very obvious the Germanic engineering as well as feeling that Buick also has its fingerprints all over the vehicle as well (for those who don't know the Buick brand it is a very old US manufacturer owned by GM known for luxury). I have owned 4 Buick's before this one and they all fell into that typical American stigma of not being able to take corners yet were very comfortable for very long trips on our interstate road system. The Verano, though smaller than the others I've owned, is my favorite. Ad I said it is a 3012 which I purchased brand new and as of today only have 22k miles on it, so I look for watt o enjoying my Buick/Opel/Vauxhall for many years to come. And lastly I enjoyed your very in depth review of this vehicle. All the details that one could want you provide. Keep it up and I will continue to follow! By the way as a side note; this vehicle was offered on the US with a 2.4l twin cam, direct injected, Ecotec engine offering 185 hp as its base engine. The other engine available is a 2.0l Turbo engine offering 260 hp. Both engines get along really well.
This was a fantastic in depth review. Looking forward to more English reviews from you guys. More reviews should show the key! I know it is a simple thing, but I love a nice fob
What a great review. I was questioning what new car to go for and you've just made my mind up. Most helpful reveiew I've found. I hope Vauxhall/Opel appreciate your help :)
+Phillip Webber I am happy to hear that the review was helpful for you! Make sure you subscribe our new channel for all English reviews: th-cam.com/channels/p_maMdOnRVq3Ca45ILwsOg.html [Jan]
I really appreciate that you do these videos in english also. This review was really helpful and actually helped me to decide that my next car will be new Opel Astra. I actually went and ordered a diesel one :) Keep up the good work and I will sub your channel.
Doesn't surprise me that it's a fun torquey car to drive. Opel is one of the best motorists in the world when it comes to petrol compact engines. Eventhough they usually display personal designs I feel this one has some Citroën DNA in it but still very attractive. Typical US semi-premium setup combining upscale details (as it will be sold as a Buick overseas) such as inner door frame covers or high quality leather seats with cheap accents (hard plastics, glovebox and armrest compartment devoid of lining...) The 3-door/coupé will be quite spectacular I guess.
Great Review, Professionally presented esp the video quality and angles. By the way i loved your English with all your funny humor so keep it rolling. I own Opel Astra H and i was looking forward for this new Astra K version. Still didn't show up in my country yet but at-least you've given me a good info through your review. Many THANKS to you :)
+Haitham H.Harazem Thank you for your kind words. I am happy you liked the review. In case you dont want to miss our new reviews: We started publishing our new English reviews on a separate channel, so you might want to go ahead and subscribe: th-cam.com/channels/p_maMdOnRVq3Ca45ILwsOg.html [Jan]
I really enjoyed the amazing driving shots and your English Mr. Zee! Don't change cause your English adds the perfect amount of humor :) I have to say, it seemed like you really missed Toby especially at 14:26.... I honestly thought you were going to shed a tear :( Anyway answering your question about the coin holder in the glove box, I actually use it as I put my parking meter money in it, but in my car it is next to the steering wheel, not in a stupid place like the glove box. Also I noticed that this car has many weird things missing, like no light in the glove box, no drivers grab handle, no way to adjust seat belt height, no armrest in the back and no adaptive cruise control even though it has collision warning which makes no sense to me! Plus I have to agree with you on the reversing camera, it looks weird and is in a horrible position. Oh, I just remembered the thing about the steering wheel. Instead of "Coated in leather", you can say "Wrapped in leather".
I can't believe I have just lost almost an hour of my day looking at a Vauxhall Astra! Great great review - the best I've seen actually - you should be Jeremy Clarkson's replacement on Top Gear! Thanks for blending information with great delivery & a bit of fun too. Very professionally put together too. Good luck you sexy guy! ;-) I'm subsribing and telling my friends about this awesome channel. Good work fella!
Bought this car last week it's stunning reasonably priced quick comfortable and a joy to drive Hope Vauxhall remain in England after Brexit I doubt it though
Very nice review. Comfortable tempo, crucial information and practical focus areas. Very ample and good information with balanced criticism of the car as whole. I've read that Opel has been really struggling with a decreasing sales numbers so they wanted to improve their new models and step things up quality wise. Don't know if they have achieved that as I've never owned a Opel before. I'm constantly comparing compact cars with the Golf or the Audi 3. Would be nice if you could make a review comparison or at least include some thoughts on those models in your summary. Thanks.
+ventende I would love to offer comparisons, but overall we are a two guy crew and cannot do this. Opel is selling better in better in Germany with the small cars - the Adam and the Karl. With the new Astra they want to get back with power to the compact market as well. Nice overhead camera views. The Opel looks pretty good. Not to be seen in N. America yet again! Overall styling is a thumbs up! Back end looks great especially the tail lights. I would still prefer a Golf, which we DO have here. Cool sweater, Jan. Complements your beard colour too I noticed :):: Good to know you're a responsible autobahn pilota 🏁

Very informative video. I do have a suggestion, however. forty eight minutes is quite long. While I do know there are people who want to know every little detail and would be quite happy to sit for that long, I also would suspect there are people who would appreciate a shorter edit of the same video - maybe twenty minutes or less? So, my suggestion is to maybe have two videos per car - one full length and one shorter for those with shorter attention spans :-)
+rcb0683 Great suggestion, was thinking of the same thing. +Ausfahrt.tv - don't give up on the long version videos though, I am looking to buy a new car at the moment, and this video is perfect for people like myself :)

I think this is one of the Best review I ever watch... :) only I have couple of question? 1.) +Jack Slaughter You can buy a little adapter that powers your phone if you put it there... but I don't think you can connect to the car then for carplay/android auto. Bit of a design flaw.
Keisha Cole My biggest gripe is the chrome window moulding not completely going around the windows to where it started, and the stupid blackout tape on the C pillar. The only thing I like about it is the lighter weight, more powerful engine (+45nm torque) and for the right price, LED matrix headlights.
Zee Audi - ok. Zee Mercedes - eher nicht. [Jan]
You can't compare Astra K with any VW Golf on market. Golf is so boring and ugly simply car. From Golf V to Golf VIII they didn't change so much, only put some new technology. In my opinion materials are more than good in other German rival. For now only is better in Mercedes A Class. Other is so simply that I have sick when i see it :).
7.0 sec it's the actual 0-100 also the torque is 300 N*m flat not 280 N*m with overboost: that's not that bad I guess maybe the engine got some upgrades since 2015 and those were older figures.
Nice, how is your experience with the car? I've been struggling to decide for the last 3 months between this and the Renault Megane GT and I'm still not sure. I like the Opel because it's less assisted than the Megane , I think you can actually turn off traction control + having a manual gearbox can add up to a more involving driving experience even if around town and in heavy traffic the auto is more comfortable. One thing I'm put off by is the 2 year warranty Opel offers in my country.
I had a spin in Megane G.T. and it was very nice. It has more gismos like HUD, automatic gear box and launch control. I didn't buy it because it's a Renault (it will depreciate like nuts) and it was too expensive (my Astra costed about 15% less than Megane). Later I've heard that some Talisman user had to have his automatic gearbox (which I've heard is the same as in Megane G.T.) replaced after less than 10k km. And he had to pay for it as service claimed it was his fault. You can limit the TC so it will react only when you really screw up. I am not perfectly happy with gear box as I am sometimes unable to put it to 1st gear. It happened 2 or 3 times so far. Also Start/Stop system let me down a few times as it didn't start the engine when I was trying to launch more rapidly than usual. Quite embarrassing but I think there is a way to modify the car so the S/S system is turned off by default. I got an extended warranty (2 extra years) for free as I had already owned an Opel car and had it registered on myOpel site. You can extend it even further as far as I know.
This was very professional, and you really get to know the car with your review, I didn't even mind you saying 'Opel' - thanks, you may have actually made up my mind on this car. thanks very much.
Mr Zee please more German humour in English! This is excellent! :)
+PatrykD Thanks mate, we love to entertain you! [Jan]
Thanks guys. I bought this model today based on your review. Very comprehensive. Your English is great. When you make mistakes it adds humour! Thanks again!!
The 200hp model takes 6.6 secs, the 150hp version takes 7.8 on the manual versions. Brilliant review BTW keep up the good work.
Chris Miller no 7.8 secs...thats wat i read everywhere.
That's what I've said neil.

No, the 1.6T has watts linkage
I guess this car is REASONABLY PRICED!!!! Someone please get the reference.
+Mario Master 02 Wait a couple of years and only old people are going to understand it.
Ich würde mich über ein Video vom Opel Zafira Tourer freuen
Enjoyable review, as always! One question: do you recommend this car over similarly equipped Mazda 3? Thanks!
+Alain Sadun Hu. Tough question. I indeed like both cars. I would now tend to take the Opel as it is three years younger than the Mazda3 of which a facelift should be coming soon. [Jan]

Hi there and congrats for your fantastic job.
Have a question about the astra 2016 with the engine 1.6 Sidi 200 ps.
Here in Spain, some car press mediums tested it and all they inform the 0-100 km in 7.8 seconds.
I'm so confused because in the Opel.de website, the manufacturer claim 7 seconds ..
Who's right or wrong.. Did you tested that spec?
Thank you! !
+CRSBCN Thank you! Well, Opel says 7 secs. i think, when the Spanish media and us tested the cars, Opel had an error in their specsheet. Thats why certain tests come with the wrong number. In 2015 Astra dosen't have a system with a telescop to lift the bonnet? Or it can be order optional? What do you know?
+darkman Astra had it in 2004-2011
I love trhis car, but there are a few strangeflaws that it has.
No rear armrest (in the Vauxhall, not sure if Opel version has one)
No light in glovebox
No seatbelt adjust
hardly any ambient lighting.
Nice and indepth review. But! For the god sake, you spent 2,5 days with car and have nothing to say about led matrix headlights which is the most curious and highlighted part of the car ! Dude...
+Meral Pekince Well, two and a half day maybe, but no night :( Which is a lie, we had the car one evening when it was dark. But it was rainy and stormy and you could hardly see any benefits of the Matrix LED. [Jan]
For australia it's the Holden Astra
+Thao Nguyen I wasnt aware it will be offered in Australia as well. Thanks for the information! [Jan]
fuel tank is 10.56 English gallons . 48 litres times 0.22 ie 4.56 litres in Eng gallon , I think you were quoting US gallons.
+Ian Kaye I just understood the difference between US and UK gallons, I will have to work on those figures. Make sure you subscribe our new channel for all English reviews: th-cam.com/channels/p_maMdOnRVq3Ca45ILwsOg.html [Jan]
So hang on a second, if I put my iPhone in the little phone holder, I can't plug it in to the USB which is hidden in the armrest?
+Jack Slaughter You can buy a little adapter that powers your phone if you put it there... but I don't think you can connect to the car then for carplay/android auto.
Bit of a design flaw.
It may be technologically more advanced than the previous generation, but the previous was a better looking car, imo.
no this is much better looking more shape

Looks like a VW Golf.
7.8 secs is wrong. It's 6.8
Good, but stop moaning about stuff. Really DO be impartial.
1936, why is it shameful???? you should be proud
7.8 s for a 200 hp car is not that good...
7.0 sec it's the actual 0-100 also the torque is 300 N*m flat not 280 N*m with overboost: that's not that bad I guess maybe the engine got some upgrades since 2015 and those were older figures.
Yeah, I know, I bought it. ; )

You can extend it even further as far as I know.
b3rs it's 6.6
