    ℹ️ DESCRIPTION
    I got placed into dedicated trucking. dedicated trucking is where you only drive a specific area of the country. the cool thing is that it has a guaranteed minimum pay of $1,500/wk plus bonus pay for driving over 150 miles/day and stop off pay. pretty cool gig.
    the best thing is that I got 2 days off/week. now I know you're like "well I get 2 days off a week at my job already" well in trucking 2 days off/week is a vacation. truckers work an insane 70hr workweek so being able to scale back while at the same time making more $.......I mean its a REALLY good gig.

    Who is ALEX THE TRUCKING GUY?
    I am a 23 year old traveling the United States that posts day in the life vlogs of a truck driver. I attended CFI's trucking school at crowder college and have been a truck driver since August 2021 but recently switched to work for a trucking company named Variant after watching a TON of Variant trucking driver reviews . I got into trucking because I've always wanted to live life on the road since I was 18 years old. Originally I was going to do vanlife but decided to live the trucking life instead because it was a better financial decision. I mean I have free housing and I travel the U.S. It's awesome! I mean what job other than trucking can you listen to podcasts while you work and travel the country for free???

    I'm 16, my dad has been trucking for over 44 years, he was in an accident 3 weeks ago in which he was hauling ply wood and came around a curb to a dully with a goose neck in his lane (luckily his company mandates dash cams that show in the cab and outside so the guys claim of my dad being in his lane were put to rest). My father collided with the gooseneck and it blew his tire pulling him off of the road and causing him to flip 2 times (with his trailer still atached and basicaly ripping the plywood to shreds), it broke his neck and paralyzed his right side but he is getting movement back, although we don't think he will ever drive a truck or any vehichle again. I've never thought much about it but I just want to say to all you truckers, please be safe out there. Uncle's a truck driver here in Michigan he bought his own truck but works for a company out of New York works about 12 hours a day and is home every night and makes about $1,500 a day and that's after they take taxes out it's some sort of scrap metal company that he works for. A lot of OTR drivers are lucky to make $1500 a day is crazy. Him and his family travel to Florida 3 to 4 times a year. Wish I could do that lol

    • @ispreview4486
      @ispreview4486 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I meant the same was he makes $1,500 a day after they take taxes out and most OTR drivers even when they own their own truck and work for other companies are lucky to bring home $2,000 a week and yet you got my uncle bringing home $1,500 a day and is only working about 12 hours so of course when he comes home he basically got to go to sleep but also the cool thing about the company he works for he can take any amount of time off as he owns his own truck and works basically his own hours but the company only works Monday through Friday so he gets to go camping on the weekends which is actually pretty cool. If you are a OTR driver and are able to buy your own truck make sure you look for local truck companies that work Mondays through Fridays and pay about a thousand to 1500 a day that way you're home every night and you're basically become rich within a couple months 😂.

    My distribution center doesn't allow overnight parking because we don't have room for a bunch of truckers to hang out after dropping a trailer. So what we did is get a street with a semi sized roundabout at the end for truckers to sleep on. It has the capacity for our truckers plus another warehouse. Not the best, but I physically don't have room for 60-100 truckers to hang out for 10 hours. I have maybe a dozen empty spots in the yard to move product to ship 2 million pounds a day

      This is dedicated truck8ng though not otr (cross country trucking).
      In dedicated you drive to the same 3 states over and over. You usually get paid more though. Plus for me at least it's a more structured job than cross country trucking. You start at the same time everyday whereas in otr your sleep schedule is based on what time the delivery is due.

      Truckers path is so worth it. Only 8 bucks a month. See if weigh stations are closed. If spots are available at rest areas, truck parking areas and truck stops. Very handy and can read reviews on shippers/receivers. And it shows you every truck entrance to places. I use it 24/7. Way cheaper than buying a $400+ gps

    Hey Alex Ive only been trucking for a little over a year but those no overnight parking signs are for most truck drivers that can’t find a place to sleep… when I deliver to a store and have their trailer I stay the night if I need too! Only once in the last year has someone knocked on my door in the morning and I just told them I was delivering “for them” and ran out of hours! Obviously try to stay out of other trucks drivers way, so they can deliver/drive past without you being in the way.!
    By the way you going to get great experience backing into some of these store docks! But please keep an eye out for people who like to drive behind stores! They will sneak up behind you and SOMEHOW not see a giant trailer reversing!
