Off the hook! For someone who has done a transplant...and had no clue...but just figured it out as he went along...what a fab explanation! Retiring in 30 months...still wondering what that first project will be. Can't even imagine having solutions already figured out by someone else... Loved this...if you haven't figured that out by now... Now go kill some Corvettes. :)
Happy Retirement in "30 months!" LOL. Not like you are looking forward to it...right? Hope you might consider us for your first post-retirement project!!! Thank you for your comment...

Great video Scott! Very detailed explanation of everything! Thanks for everything from Renegade Hybrids! Keeping the rest of us outlaw guys supplied for products!
Beautiful car. With respect to the front fender cutouts to vent the radiator to the wheel wells, seems like that would allow water splash into the trunk bay? Is that a possibility?
The positive air flow out bound of the front trunk keeps the splash from being much of an issue. Because of the threat of rust, my guess is you probably won't be doing much rain driving anyway.
Maybe I missed it, but can you comment on the brakes and tire choices with so much horsepower and potential top speed? You mentioned sticking with the stick 19mm master cylinder, but that’s all I noticed. Fun build.
@shawnbrennan7526 Check other videos on our channel. We even have an upgraded 914 to 996 big brake kit!! Find that video and you'll be quite impressed.
@@JB91710 I saw an old TH-cam video showing a 928 powered 914 years ago. I don’t have anything against engine swaps but always thought it’s better to at least use the same manufacturer’s engine. Even a modern Cayman/Boxster flat 4 or flat 6 would make an awesome engine swap and one hell of an Outlaw 914.
@@JB91710 that’s the video I was talking about. That’s probably the only 914 with a 928 V8 in it. Speaking of 928 engine swaps, have you ever seen an Artz VW Golf? I guess it isn’t really a swap but more of a custom re-body. Definitely unique though. Check it out. th-cam.com/video/XXzCEmVSwWM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for asking... We don't really launch and run quarter miles times with these cars just because they are build more for canyons and road racing. But since they typically run about 2300lbs with high 400HP V8's, our customers report that they can easily achieve mid 12 second quarter mile times without abuse on the transaxle. My guess is there might be even lower numbers if you were to build one of these for a straight line...but what fun would that be. Driving straight is...well...driving straight. Put a curve in the mix, or a braking zone, and now these cars will really shine! Light weight, mid-engine, powerful, balanced, and forgiving all makes for a brilliant little sports car.
@@RenegadeHybrids Yes I agree this is more of a canyon carver, but I was curious. As far as curb weight, what is a typical 914 with LS motor weigh? Thanks in advance.
I used to come around years ago when you had that yellow 914 with the body kit. Glad to see Renegade is still around making amazing cars!

Great walk through Scott! I own one of the Renegade converted cars (done at Renegade) and yes, the walk through would be good to see as well.
I remember when Renegade started in Whittier those were the days.
Wow!!! what fantastic engineering, mahalo for this walkthrough it was very interesting, very awesome!!!
Would love to see a walkthrough like this for the Subaru swap!
Great conversion thank you for the video 👍
Hey this is great, makes me miss my 914...
I gotta to get one of these...Wow !
absolutely first rate!!!
Thanks Blair!
Love it ! Thanks Scott
You are most welcome!
Can you put the roof in the trunk with that v8 transplant?
@@marty486 Yes
I wanted to hear it bro!
That’s beautiful but I really just wanna put my Boxster motor and suspension into my 914. Is that possible
Anything is possible, but why?

It looks like a lot of water is getting into the front trunk through the wheel well vents. How does it get drained?
The air pushing through the radiator and exiting out the inner fender holes certainly eliminates that concern.

I'm interested in which water pump you are using. I didn't know that they are that good now.
The system needs to be designed around the electric water pump. You may not have as much success just switching to an electric pump.
Do you guys sell these as turn key?
Wow cool video! Anyone know about what a build like this costs??
There are prices on the Renegade site if you'd like to take a look?
Can you ballpark a cost for that setup - assuming an acceptable doror car.
Is it possible to get a rollbar like that for a 71 with original seats? Maybe split in half with a weld on sleeve in the middle, so it can be shipped
We weld in plates into the chassis as well, so this is just an in-house roll bar...sorry.
I’d love to see someone do a 914 V8 swap using a newer Porsche V8 from a first generation Panamera or a V8 Cayenne.
HoldMyBeer76 Chevy more in a Porsche. Dr. Porsche will be roll in his grave .
There's a 928 engine swap car out there.
