I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes...
@@Elliot-Ivan The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
Sales tax in Davidson county is 9.25%. Statewide sales tax is 7%. But, Davidson county ads 2.25% for total of 9.25% for sales tax in Nashville. They definitely should’ve mentioned that… 🤷♂️
Our property taxes are high, we pay county and city taxes on groceries anout 20 percent here ..and other goods as well. I can't afford to retire here anymore. When it's not sweltering hot it's raining.
Just learn before coming that politeness is VERY different in the Northeast and Great Lakes. You need to adjust. Do not make this state like the North. If you've grown up with honking, a lack of smiling and rudeness, you will not recognize how you seem to others. Don't honk at us for driving the speed limit. Yall are changing and overwhelming our Southern culture right now. Eventually, yall will not have any more places to move to. It's time to learn what works.
I’m a Tennessee native. If there are multiple lanes, get in the right most lane EXCEPT to pass others. If you are in the left lane going the speed limit, then YOU should move up north. You ARE a large part of our problems.
From WC, My wife, 3 kids, and I moved here from Florida in 1980, interest for housing loans was high and because of that we struggled the first years, my job was on the road and never 100% secure! We had a 20+ inch snowfall in 1984 with 20 below temperatures and no electric power! We had 2 more 20” snows in the 1990’s! Would We move back to FLA or anywhere else? Certainly not! And the people complain about the weather? In FLA we got 6 months of 90+ degree days of summer, but even though it was above freezing 99.9% of the winter 40 degrees could feel like 10 degrees above zero to you! I grew up in Illinois and I can tell you that winters can be zero for months with lots of snow! We feel that TN is not perfect weather wise but compared to north or south it is much better! 9.75% sales tax yes it is high but NO state income tax! My youngest brother moved from FLA because of high taxes and fees for almost everything! My oldest brother still in Illinois payed twice what I pay for a small house and yard I bought a new house when we moved here and we now have 3+ acres of land! I think my next older brother in Omaha pays at least 4 times what I pay in taxes! We will stay right here in NE TN, thank you! I must confess with all the new people moving in it is getting crowded! And P.S. we would like you to adjust to our way of living, not whatever crazy way of living you had whatever it was in the place you wanted to leave!
It’s Republican, Baptist, and it has poor schools. Everything is run by good ol’ boys, so newcomers have no say about anything. Yeah, it’s pretty, but backward. Nashville is cosmopolitan, but the state legislature does its best to flummox anything city councils want to do. Horrible allergies, too. Sales taxes are really high; cities and counties add to the state sales tax. Come ahead, but house prices are way up.

People complain about taxes but I think our tax dollars here in Tennessee pretty much go for what their intended it's not that bad we have the best roads and Interstate System anywhere one of our problems is these people that don't want to work and living off the tax dollar they're the ones that are really hurting the tax dollar they claim to be homeless but the truth is they're just too lazy to get out and work

I live here in Tennessee and when it comes to the weather these guys are lying. The weather is awful. Extreme hot and humid in the summer and bitter cold during the winter. It only nice and mild a few months out of the year during spring and fall. It’s beautiful those two times of the year.
We’ve got enough people already. Thank you anyway. Just stay put.

Democrats run Davidson county. No wonder the tax is high. Even property tax is high also.
I see my friend and former boss, Jon! Great job. 😃
Clearly your purpose was to talk people out of moving to Tennessee
Thank heavens
Stop drawing attention to TN. We're already dealing with housing problems and traffic. Getting our share of illegals too
Thnx
That’s what I said about Florida when I lived there
Don’t forget to warn people about the out of control road raging and high numbers of fatality car wrecks here.

10% sales tax. Who you kidding
Ohio has 7.5% sales tax
9.5% in TN.
I already moved here
Then assimilate and embrace who we are instead of trying to take us down like Colorado
