      I tried to warn people back in 2008 what a phoney baloney charlatan Obama is. Very few believed me. They got seduced by his charm and his being part black and believing he would really change things. By 2012, some had realized their mistake in voting for him. By 2016, most of them began to realize this fraud. By now, virtually all who voted for him feel that way.

    it was so disingenuous of him to compare himself and what he may have done at two years-old to the victims in Flint. Obama grew up in privilege, not in inner-city homes with chipped lead paint. He had access to the best of everything as a child-one of the most exclusive private schools in the State of Hawaii, international traveling and living, PhD anthropologist mother, a bank vice-president grandmother who left him a half-million dollar inheritance. He certainly had far more advantages that the typical Black child growing up in 1960s and 1970s America. That's not the background of most of the children who were poisoned in Flint, and that's certainly not the background of people who reside in neighborhoods that are most likely to lack a sanitary water supply and proper sanitation services. Obama essentially played this game wherein he used his blackness to put on the facade of sameness and appear more relatable than he actually was. There were far more examples than this, but this one stands out because it is one of the few antics that his audience saw for what it was.

    • @Samplesurfer
      @Samplesurfer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He grew up during his school years in Indonesia, not Hawaii. His mother had remarried an Indonesian man and moved with him to Indonesia.
      So the entire "private school in Hawaii" is blatant nonsense.

    • @tincredible
      @tincredible 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Samplesurfer What is blatant nonsense is a person being emphatic about something they obviously haven't fact-checked. He attended the Ponahou School in Hawaii from fifth grade through his high school graduation. He's a 1979 graduate of this school, and it's no secret that this private school is expensive and exclusive. In addition, the FACT that he was able to continent-hop as a Black child born in the U.S. is even more proof of privilege.

    • @Samplesurfer
      @Samplesurfer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tincredible The very fact that one sees a child of a black man and a white mother as "black child" is so typical USA.
      But a key point is a different one. It is your casual use of the terms 'privilege' and "exclusive private schools" for what actually in the 1970s was a rather standard middle class upbringing which you got with (grand)parents with academic degrees and white-collar staff functions.
      Please: in the USA a vice-president of a bank can mean anything. Either running an entire division or unit, or just having a personal assistant.
      Obama lived several years in Indonesia in the 1960s and in the USA from 1971 onwards (with his grandparents) on Hawaii, and he didn't grew up poor, but just middle class.
      Privileged in the 1970s was when your (grand)parents were (multi-)millionaire. A half-million dollar inheritance isn't that special in a middle class household if there aren't many other heirs to divide it up.
      So I dislike your casual and rather unthinking usage of the word "privilege" and "exclusive private school" for someone who grew up in a rather standard, middle class setting and didn't went to an expensive boarding school. It sounds like a Fox News host.
      This is not because I don't see the difference in his upbringing, and most of the people living in Flint, MI today. But in particular because the typical black family in Flint, MI in the late 1960s or early 1970s had probably as much wage income to spend as Obama's mother and/or grandparents. The economy, social position and wages in the early 1970s were very different. You couldn't work at Wall Street in the 1970s as a broker/trader without moonlighting or second/third jobs to earn enough. However a factory worker in Flint MI in the 1960s/1970s had a good paying job.
      This all changed in the 1980s, and not in a good way for the factory workers in Flint, MI. Michael Moore's film "Roger & Me" provides still a good idea.
      However it isn't smart to project today back on the late 1960s / early 1970s.

    • @tincredible
      @tincredible 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Samplesurfer You clearly don't know much about the economic positionality of Black America if you think that that 1) a Ponahou School education, 2) having a bank vice-president granny who left her grandson a half-million dollar inheritances....were typical, Black life" experience at ANY point in American history. I can assure you that Black people Obama's age are more likely to have grandmas who were domestics or sharecroppers than bank VPs, so no matter how "little" the title entailed, it still provided a whole different life than most Blacks lived at the time.
      The only way your analysis would reflect accuracy is if you were to base your entire case on aberrations. The Black-white wealth gap is as wide today as it was in the late 1960s, so there was nothing about Obama's upbringing that was typical for Black children in the 70s. Likewise, there was nothing markedly different about Black people's wealth in the 1970s. The only difference is that many had the incomes to live a modest working class lifestyle and purchase homes without as much education or post-secondary training, but they STILL weren't living like Obama was living.
      To compare Obama's white family to a 1970s Black family in Michigan is tone-deaf when considering that white people of all eras haven't lived off of income alone. They live off of actual WEALTH, which is generational. We live in a nation where the majority of wealth is inherited, not earned in the wealth-holders' lifetimes. Black families generally lack generational wealth because we got a 350 year late start in being allowed to access the avenues for wealth-building. That's why when life changed in the 80s for Flint factory workers, they no longer had anything worth value to pass down to their progeny. That's why many of the children and grandchildren of those middle-class factory workers are largely poor today. That's not Obama's familial narrative in he least.
      Do you want to know what else Obama's family's whiteness meant that was NOT the case for Black families in Flint in any era? Obama's maternal whiteness meant that the family could purchase homes that didn't depreciate in value because of their race. As we know, home ownership has been a wealth-building for Americans, so that alone set his background apart from the typical Black American's background of any era. What you're doing is simplistically cherry-picking history to suit your preferred narrative. What would be SMART is to look at the big picture as it relates to our historical reality.

    • @Samplesurfer
      @Samplesurfer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tincredible Sure I am incredible aware of that. But casually throwing around "privileged" for what is actually a middle class upbringing, just shows you seem to have an axe to grind.
      The problem with your attitude is that shoveling Obama in the "privileged" category takes away the harsh light on the genuinely privileged Americans. About 0.1% of the population.
      Don't underestimate the risk that corporate bigwigs soon decide to hire "Proud Boys" and "Oathkeepers" as their 21st century "Pinkertons".
      In that way homegrown US fascists (real ones) can happily engage in All American privatized "surpression of the poor" for a living, paid for by the actual privileged.
      Happy "privileged" hunting.
      And don't think I exaggerate. Amazon.com already in Europe hired a neo-nazi security firm to keep their immigrant workforce in the warehouses in check in Germany in the 2011-2013 period. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/amazon-used-neo-nazi-guards-keep-immigrant-workforce-under-control-germany-8495843.html

    [Pasting my comment from another video on this subject]: I'm watching this video after watching Jimmy Dore skewer Obama for his heartless response. For me, besides this stunt, the bigger problem is why didn't this spur Obama and Dems into action to make fixing our decrepit infrastructure a big priority? Before anyone says he didn't have the House and Senate, let's remember that infrastructure is a truly popular bipartisan issue. He should've campaigned on this issue in some red/swing states to boost Democratic numbers in Congress. But no, he only cares about the brand and myth of Obama. He was a celebrity president before Trump came along.
    Obama's even worse than Clinton in this respect. Bill (and Hillary) Clinton were policy wonks (still heartless and corrupt) who believe in actually doing things, notwithstanding their disastrous impact to our country.
