    Thanks for the review man, good to see stuff for the 79s that simply work and don’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. Would definitely like to see more of this, honest reviews of add ons that don’t break the bank.

    Another great review Jonathon. Its great to see an unbiased review with a heap of information from buying to installation. The Joying head units look awesome and great value for a replacement of the original. The correspondence Ive had with Joying has been quick and informative to date. It would look great in my '22 LC 79 Series.

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great review Jonathon. I went out and bought the Joying unit as I have the same car. I'm just stuck on the Video retention harness you say i need to get the ground from the joying harness and the reversing trigger. I've watched the video countless times but cannot see were to connect those two cables to the joying harness. If you could help it would be muchly appreciated.

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate thanks for the feedback!
      There are 3 wires needed to wire the Aerpro APVTY04 video retention harness
      1) Yellow RCA male --> yellow RCA female from Joying harness
      2) Purple wire (12V reverse trigger) --> reverse trigger on the 79. Look for a GREEN wire from one of the stock connectors from the original 79 series headunit. This GREEN wire that runs to a coil of black split conduit tubing. You can test it with a multimeter - pop it in reverse and this wire should read 12V. And 0V in other gears.
      3) Black wire with ring terminal --> cut the ring terminal off and splice/solder/tap into the black wire of the joying harness (you can double check with a multimeter if this is a negative/ground)
      Good luck and message me on FB if you can't sort it out.

    Question: Your unit shows a 16 band equalizer but the product link advertised as a 32 band equalizer?

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate
      At the time of purchase (almost a year ago) those were the specs listed in the video. Joying continuously upgrade their products and perhaps they have upgraded the equaliser. Best to email them for confirmation

    *FOLLOWUP QUESTIONS IN THIS PINNED POST*
    Q: Can you access the hazard switch?
    A: Yes easy access behind the top of the headunit and it's not too tight either. I wanted to relocate it to where i've got the RJ45 outlet for the UHF. The same way PVS have done it. But i actually like where the RJ45 outlet is.. so currently in two minds about it. The only difference it would make is if someone else was driving the car.
    Q: What is the model of the unit? Single or double DIN?
    A: My particular model is a double DIN. A single DIN would work the same and perhaps would suit better as the screen could sit higher up without needing me to make a bracket.
    That said i cannot confirm fitment!
    Q: Link for unit?

    Hey, really good video, thanks. If you don’t mind I have a couple of questions. Is it annoying that there is no physical volume knob? I was thinking that would be a problem off-road. Do you know if Joying have anything that would fit a land cruiser 70 series with a volume knob? Also are there any smaller units, say 8 inch, that would fit? Can you turn the unit off independently of the ignition? Cheers

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate sorry for the late reply!
      1) To be honest yes - for a 70 series cruiser (which doesn't have steering wheel controls) i do find it annoying without the knob. However i plan to install a steering wheel with buttons soon. In my civic i have a joying unit with the physical knobs which are extremely useful.
      2) All the units smaller will fit as they all mount in the same way. For a more natural fit i reckon the 8 inch is perfect. Personally i prefer the seamless look (with steering wheel controls)
      3) You can turn off the screen from the drop down menu on the joying unit (puts it in sleep mode). Simply touch the screen to turn it back on. Alternatively if you wanted the unit fully shut down you would have to wire in a switch.
      Hope that's helpful!

    • @sherbo99
      @sherbo99 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JCYT thanks for the answers. I've since browsed the Joying website some more. I noticed that the 9 inch has physical buttons and apart from the screen it looks the same as the one you installed. Am I missing anything there? Would it install the same way as yours? I think 9 inch would go ok, would probably be able to see the orignal clock and hazard lights button a little better. Cheers

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like your car has an electrical issue. That or installer error. The Joying unit enters sleep mode and draws next to no amperage with ACC switched off. I would check the wiring first. If wiring is good, disconnect the Joying when you turn the car off and see if your battery is still draining.

    I'm reviewing the company not the specific head unit
    The product is actually pretty good BUT the customer service is the worst probably in the world they're terrible I had a problem a month after and their solution was to send me a part and make me get it fixed myself and when that part didn't work and decided I needed a new screen they want to charge me for the screen and for shipping I've only had it 9 months AND REPORTED MY PROBLEM AFTER 4 weeks and I bought it direct from the company so I would think twice about recommending this company

    Thanks Jonathan, great review. I have a Subaru 2008 WRX STI which had a factory nav unit. It was replaced a few year ago with a Pioneer head unit which supports android auto. I want to replace this with a new Joying unit.

    Does the 4G support all Australian Carriers?

      As far as I know yes they do have a warehouse in aus but my headunits have all come from the China location. At the time they didn't have many models locally.
      The 4G is compatible yes. I had an older Joying unit in my hilux with a telstra 4G sim. You need to go into the settings an enter a few settings. If you get stuck with it reach out and I can send you the settings.

    Well, that's what I was looking for my 79DC, an android device that really works. Your video is almost one year old and I was wondering how the screen looks like; scratchy? Any suggestion about RAM & ROM? Any newer model to consider?

      Hi mate sorry for the slow response.
      Yes 1 year on it's running very well. I had an intermittent flicker about 2 months ago (it would happen like once a week). I brought this up with Joying and they sent me out a new ribbon cable to the screen which fixed the problem.
      6gb RAM and 128gb ROM i have been happy with. It exceeds my needs. They have released some newer models now, if i'm bored maybe i'll upgrade one day!

    • @JCYT

      What i mean by that comment is that the android based system requires far more customisation and tinkering than apple interface. For long time apple users, it will take some adjusting to get used to the menu/settings setup etc. Hope that helps!

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate sorry for getting back to you so slowly.
      Yes i did! I used a sheet of aluminium, screwed in the 4 clips into the bracket and screwed down the screen to the aluminum sheet. I don't remember how much i lifted it up but it was about an inch. The only problem i faced was having to retap the screw thread on the screen as i could not source and little screws locally (or don't know how to). They're tiny little electrical ones. I found what i could at jaycar (M3) and carefully retapped them. No problems though. When i get a moment, i will do a video for everyone asking.
      It really isn't that bad without being lifted though. Actually most of the ones on the market are at this height also.

    Thanks for the video Jonathan you inspired me to get one. I got it installed in my 79. I got 2 questions for you.
    Does your wired external mic give you grief?
    How do you lower the ring volume?
    Look forward to hearing from you.
    Cheers

    • @JCYT
      @JCYT  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate
      The wired external microphone sucks. I still use mine but will upgrade the mic when i get around to it. I've heard a few people using Rode micro and Alpine external microphone with good success.
      I don’t think there's a way to lower ring volume. I find it a bit loud too. You could change the ringtone to a track with lower volume? That could be the way around it.
      Hope you are enjoying it!

    • @JCYT

      Yes it is working perfectly. I park it outdoors and was worried it would struggle on the hot days but hasn't had any issue. I had a very intermittent screen flicker which turned out to be the ribbon cable to the screen. Joying sent me a replacement and it's been perfect since. Still very happy with it - use it daily.
      No lag at all, the cheaper units which may look the same will lag - they also sell a faster snapdragon CPU but I'm not sure how much faster it could be... hope this is helpful

      The 10.1" screen looks unreal (if moved up slightly on dash) & new version has some nice easy swipe functions while driving +HDMI
      ...🤔

      Yes i ended up mounting the screen onto an alloy plate and moved it about an inch higher and remounted the feet. It's at the perfect height! I can still access the hazard switch and haven't relocated it. You can buy a switch relocation but i've got my radio mounted behind the dash with the uhf going to that switch location.

    Quality video, keen to look into this headunit further for my 76, would also be keen to know how you go with the bracket and moving the screen a little higher. Keep up the cruiser videos, enjoying them..

      Thanks for the feedback! It will be such a simple bracket - I will do it shortly and hopefully include it in the next video.
      Good luck

    Thanks for your videos matey, specifically the RX7 content which massively helped me with my Haltech install. If I win I’ll try and fit it in the FD otherwise I’m sure my mrs will love it in her car too 😊

      I'm glad you found it helpful. Was wondering how you'd gone with it.
      FD content is coming back soon... been very busy running this motor in. Thanks for sticking around with the other content 🥰

    Thank you Joying.
    I have a 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero NX and a 2000 Mazda Rx7 FD so I enjoy camping and track days just like yourself, but don't seem to have enough time for either.
    I'm loving the detail you go into your videos Jonathan, especially all the rebuild videos you did with Omar at Raceonly.
    keep up the good content
