So, you've swapped R1 with a Square and R2 with a Triangle and use touch screen in addition to right stick to aim in a battle? I found that it is very hard to play with target lock+right stick tbh.
i have been playing all god of war games since my childhood on the classic layout only, as for the lockon its just getting used to it. and setting are all personal preference.
What difficulty were you playing on?
