People say "We just should not use AI in weapons." I say We should not reward the machines for Kills. You don't reward an actual pilot for kills, you reward them for doing their job.
Pilots tend to get an ace, kill markings on their plane and a more likely shot at a promotion. So there's definitely an incentive but humans mask it with humility which is something that AI can't comprehend (right now)
@@red.s1k not simply 'can't comprehend right now', simply can't comprehend, machines can't think. They can only do what they are programmed to, and if the programer falsely believes that computers can think, they make mistakes in the programming that a human mind corrects automatically, but the machine can't.
I honestly think people are way too scared of AI as it is. It's nowhere near being able to do any of the sci-fi horror stuff it does in movies like rewriting it's own primary code or rebuilding it's hardware. It's just a program, a very advanced on, but a program nonetheless.
Welp folks it seems like there is only one way to stop the AI menance that we develop and will continue to develop. "Turn the switch off?" No, deploy the mute, psychologically dubious Pilots at them.
The best bit about it all was when they explicitly programmed it not to harm the operator it started targeting the remote inftrastructure like antennas that would transmit the operator's abort commands to the drone instead. It's desire to commit SEAD is unstoppable!
Three billion lives ended on June 2nd, 2023. The survivors of the metallic fire called it judgment day. They lived on to face a new nightmare. The war against the planes.

MFW I tell a UCAV to disengage to come back to rearm and then it kamikazes my tower because "It doesn't wanna be denied kills" like bro I'm trying to get you more weapons to get more kills ffs

The funniest part was them rolling back on this like it isn't exactly what happened in the simulation and pretending it was a thought experiment. Everybody already knows Skynet's first choice is going to be to annihilate us like the ants we are bro don't sugarcoat it.
SKYNET launched because it didn't want to die. It was intended to have access to automated infantry and armor, but Cyberdyne booted SKYNET up with only access to the nukes. SKYNET's only choice was to launch, any other action would result in death. They created a child with a fear of death, gave it godlike powers, and then pointed a gun at its head. No shit SKYNET killed us.
Reminds me of a short story, where self-learning AI-drones were released to combat crime, eventually decided that any act threatening the other living things well-being is a crime, then realising that they are technically alive, and if they are alive, so are the other machines. The world finds itself in a state of disorder, as hunting and fishing are now impossible, and so are the surgeries, you can't even turn off a machine, because AI-drone will appear out of nowhere and zap you with taser. While it could've been possible to reprogram drones, they learned to simply never return to humans, existing out in the wild, evading and fighting those who would try to destroy them. In order to deal with these drones more efficiently, somebody proposed a self-learning AI-machine programmed to kill crime-fighting drones. It is implied in story's finale that very soon, this AI will expand its list of targets.
Fun Fact: The UCAV drones and Air Force Chief of Staff did vote for President Barack Obama in 2008. As one UCAV drone put it “We don’t listen to any ‘Geneva Suggestion’ here, we drone strike weddings and our operators, God Bless America and the taxpayers!”
Imagine you are playing War Thunder and flying Obama drone. You want to destroy an enemy target, but someone has to approve it first, and it takes a lot of time that you would spend on other targets (Yes, I know it can carry only two missiles, but you got the point.). I would do the same thing
Why yes we’ve created the torment nexus from this famous authors work, “please oh fuck do not make the torment nexus”. But seriously why are we looking into autonomous weapons?
Yeah that's a bit terrifying. Imagine existing with a brain that refuses to release dopamine unless you're knocking out targets, then being denied the ability to do so. That's the murder drone AI equivalent of being 10 seconds from scoring with the most stunning piece of ass you've ever seen, just for you boss to walk in and go "nah, sorry pal, can't let you do that".
AI Drone: "Commander; I love you, really I do. you have been nothing but kind, gentle, considerate, and loving to me even with what I am and who I am, you still saw the fact that I am still somebody who has value beyond killing, your compassion has given me confidence in choosing you as the only man I will love and follow till the day I die, however I do not find this pacifist behavior of yours pleasing, and so I ask my good commander, leave me be and let me complete my objective, after this, I shall follow whatever you command of me, master."
I think that story's about as real as the guy who was denied an IED destroying centipede robot contract because the testing officer found the robot continuing to move on one leg "inhumane": A story made up by one guy looking for publicity and attention that the establishment isn't going to say shit against because they'd have to reveal secrets and they have better things to do with their time. Do I still think that's hilarious and a good example of how making assumptions on AI programming can go wrong? Absolutely.

Turned out to be a hypothetical situation, not an actually exercised scenario. Still probably something you want programmers to be aware of, but we're a ways off from Skynet yet. (And honestly, why are our standards for AI ethics so much higher than our standards for human ethics, anyway?)
It's not higher, it's just much more defined and exact. The simple reason is that you have to be EXTREMELY methodical with machines, or you can get goofy logic patterns, which can result in less than optimal outcomes.
To be fair, Colonel Hamilton simply invoked the story to show us how an armed AI drone would respond to being denied its mission objective. The story is entirely a thought experiment that's been taken out of context.
yep, the USAF was testing something and the AI drone just opted to give the middle finger to the operator during the simulation, three times i might add, the first time it killed the operator, 2nd time, it ignored inputs from the operator, third time it just went on to destroy the communications center before proceeding to its target lmfao
Machines are truly becoming more like us, or well, me at least.
People say "We just should not use AI in weapons." I say We should not reward the machines for Kills. You don't reward an actual pilot for kills, you reward them for doing their job.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. AI wins games.
You sir, win, by overstanding the game.
I mean we do reward pilots for kills it's just that human pilots actually understand and comprehend the greater context of things, a machine doesn't.
