There is a wide variety of parenting styles in the world and these 3 examples should not be taken to be absolute norms.

I’m a parent in the US and I now feel super strict after watching this.

My parents weren't like Hayleen's parents. We were left alone at home after school at 10. My mom was running our boat docks and my dad worked fulltime. I had to feed myself and do homework and go to school. I helped clean the house and do my work at the docks on the weekends. When I was older, I was left to my on devices. Not strict on curfew, but I just was home by midnight. I would come home and both parents would be fast asleep. Knew what made them mad and didn't do it or didn;t get caught.

Lucky you. Most American parents baby their kids, make all their decisions, and then wonder why they don't know how to make good choices when they grow up. In Japan, parents are not even allowed to go to schools in the morning - even Kindergarten students need to get there on their own, riding subways and walking. I heard parents telling a child to make her own decisions about her life and school classes. After all, she was 8.

I can't relate, maybe because In my generation you were expected to begin working as a teenager buy your own car and be moved out by 18 either in college or have an apartment and job by then. I couldn't imagine living at home past 18 ?

I was raised in Texas and my parents were something between the American girl and the British girls parents. They had a few rules they were strict about but other than that I was kind of left to my own devices once I turned about 12.

In 8th grade me and my classmates found out that the way they score in the UK is different from the US so if we got a “C” as a grade of score here at schools it would be a high score in the UK
Everyone in my class including me wished that we lived in the UK….but I’m already bad at English and I have a hard time understanding people sooo….

In the US, my dad and mom can argue all day. But when my dad wants to become the "person who's correct" mom tells him otherwise.
US Moms are scary af, assert dominance as my Dad tries to leverage (fail) his way to being right. Lemme tell ya, women tend to assert their dominace in USA. Do not try to win the leader role, cuz you wont be a happy guy. Sons tease but they quickly learn their place in a snap of a finger.
I accidentally out-loud (and stupidly said it) "Shush mom!". I understood in 0.01 seconds why most boys and girls fear the wrath of the mom power lol

Hayleen does not represent the United States very well. Not sure how long she lived in Texas or if she was even born in the U.S. You may want to look for someone else to represent the U.S.

Not any one person shall accurately represent different parentin styles in any give country 😂

After Hayleen mentioned her parents were immigrants in the U.S. its understandable why she does not represent the typical U.S. teen. I am sure her parents raised her as they were raised in their own country.

You can't expect an individual to represent the US. It's huge, it has a lot of cultures and ethnicities, states, rules, personal experiences.
She's telling her own individual experience.

Ya considering Hayleen has Borderline Personality Disorder, it wouldn’t be surprising if her father or mother has it as well. Lines up with how she describes her parents. She thinks parents just sue to get what they want? Dismissive of any legit concerns and reasons a parent would even mention that. Typical of Borderlines to think that way though. Yikes.
