    Just now seeing this video. Been using RumLogNG for years. A feature added this year that was previously only possible with another less advertised app from the software author is using ethernet for CAT control. With an IC-7610, 9700, or 705 and the radio is connected by ethernet or wireless, the serial connection for CAT control is not necessary. In the Preferences->TX1 (or TX2)->Interface, choose 'Icom Server'. Fill-in the port information that matches the 'Network' information in the settings tab of your Icom's radio menu and you are connected via ethernet. Depending on your home router setup and using port forwarding, it is possible to remote your radio.

    Thanks Mike, it took 1hr to set up and that also included configuring my Ft991a and the drivers. Made a few adjustments to enable the 991 to communicate with RumLOGNG. I will update this reply to list those settings of RunLogNG for other users. Wow it worked first time. Thanks again saved me £1000 as I nearly bought a new windows laptop to run M1MN. This is great software - I first downloaded this software like 12+ years ago, and I keep updating it whenever there is an update....but I have never started using it. I am still logging on HRD. I also bought the RumLog app for my iPad, to use for logging in the field, and have never used that either. I think the learning curve has stopped me from moving over from HRD (lazy to learn a new system). Also, everything is setup for me already on HRD, so to start over on new software has made me hesitant. One day I will get to it though - thanks Mike

    By the way, I found a way to add POTA spots to the Dx Cluster feed using a Ham Alert trigger. You can also modify the user fields to generate a log upload-able to pota. I'm so new at this, I'll be starting with a paper log, but cool to at least know for hunting I can use the cluster and band map windows!

    I'm stuck at getting an appropriate device to show up in the RUMlogNG device select. When I plug in the radio I see a USB to Serial device appear in the macbook's system info, but when I open RUMlogNG to set a device, it doesn't appear. The only device that appears in the selection is a Bluetooth device which I'm sure is not appropriate.
    Although some people have said no driver needs to be installed (there's already an appropriate driver) I also tried installing the Silicon Labs USB to UART driver on my macbook pro with Apple M1 Max. I downloaded the recommended driver. When I run the installer it says it installed but I don't see the USB to UART driver. Also doesn't show up in RUNlogNG. Frustrating.

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry for the late response. Hopefully you've got it figured out by now but if not, make sure no other program is connected to your radio. For example, if WSJT-X is running, that will tie up the port and RUMlogNG won't respond to your radio and vice versa when I'm using RUMlogNG and switch to WSJT-X I have to un-check the Use Cat button in RUMlogNG.

The 878 is not one of the radios listed with the software. I'm using the programming cable that came with the radio. So, that may be the problem. Most of my ops are portable. I do a lot of POTA and some SOTA, so I've been using HAMRS. Much of the time it's on my iPhone, but I also use it on my Surface Go 2. The POTA template is pretty good and the POTA spots tab is useful if you want to chase some P2P action.
    My main log is the N3FJP contact log. I figured out how to set it up for POTA/SOTA logs, but generally don't use it in the field because I often just log on my phone.
