This is a FANTASTIC option for someone who does not want to tinker with hardware and software. For me I decided to build mine, I spent 100 dollars shipped but for my C note, I got the PI, a case, a logitec keyboard with built in trackpad, and an MMDVM hat so I was able to build a pi-star DMR hotspot AND Hamclock together :) but again, I am a tinkerer.

You seemed not to know these in the initial setup.
gpsd is a Linux service to get location from a GPS dongle, and makes the time available.
NTP sets the time over the network and asks which Internet time server to use, or get time from GPS.

I've had mine since seeing it on Jim W6LG's feed. Its on its own monitor, Wi-Fi to my modem, I got the micro keyboard with it but quickly swapped it for a full size Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Much easier to work with. I've got mine set up with Grey Line, FT-8 DX spots, EME and solar conditions, and RS-44 tracking. It's definitely a great tool. Nowhere near as fast as my SSD Optiplex, but it does what it does well.

NTP is the Network time protocol. It synchronizes the computer clock with an atomic clock via a list of time servers. This appears to be using whatever the default servers are. I am only a few minutes into this video. But I assume that this is being used as a time source to the ham equipment, in which case it has to be also synced to a reliable time source.
