I know many people would be very interested to know more of the details! Anyway, I just found your channel and am already obsessed with your content. Strong girls on trail get me excited :)
The side trip off of the PCT to Mount Whitney was in the top 3 hardest days on my PCT thru-hike. I cried TWICE and the only thing that got me off the mountain was meal planning for my highly anticipated dinner at McDonalds later that night. Instead of coming down Whitneyand heading back to the PCT, we had to go down the Whitney Portal into Lone Pine. Would not recommend this route. NEVER AGAIN!

Hey Val! So I remember the first week on the Pacific Northwest Trail we were told there were something like 300-500 grizzly bears in that area and I was horrified. I would stiffen up and not make a sound when I heard a noise outside. Then call out to my friend to look outside her tent and tell me what she saw. About a month later I got so comfortable when I heard a noise, I would be still to listen if it persisted, then I would grab my knife and bear spray and go outside to check it out. I needed to check it out. And usually I just heard rats or deer. (=

Haha! Yeah both route up to Whitney are pretty challenging. I would have been fine if I didn't get hit hard by the elevation.
