I think if Gronk stayed away from injury and had a career as long as gates or Gonzalez, he’d be the best TE of all time. In the amount of time he’s played he’s easily the best.
I'll say Gronk is overall the best tight end ever but Kelce will end up being the best receiving tight end of all-time. Gronk is a much better blocker than almost any tight end ever, George Kittle too. This list will be dramatically changed in 10 years.
Greg Olsen at #10! I’m a hardcore panthers fan and I never would’ve guessed he’d be here!!! Man is underrated, for years he was our top receiver under cam and Ron Rivera! Is he HOF though, eh?
As much as I love Gonzales, Gronk is #1. He’s every tight end on this list rolled up into one. He has the hands and leaping ability of Gonzales, the toughness of Ditka, break away ability of Mackey, blocking ability of Witten, and post season success of Sharpe. Can’t argue with that. Only thing he doesn’t have is longevity.
I think you should do top 10 true fullbacks of all time. True fullbacks are Develin, Neal, Johnston, Rathman, Kuhn, Centers, Gash, Alstott and a couple more.
I’d put Travis Kelce in the top 10 at this point, especially given the fact that he played a key part in a super bowl win, something that a lot of the guys on this list never really did. 7-8 years of being a top 3 TE in the league as well.
Here's some things to consider when comparing Gonzales and Gates. Gonzalez was a already a Pro Bowl tight end when Gates was a rookie. Gates didn't play a down in college while being a star forward for Kent State's basketball team. Gates was good as a rookie, but he was basically learning the position as he progressed. In his second year Gates was the starting tight end for the AFC in the Pro Bowl with Gonzalez as the backup. Gonzalez probably had a different QB throwing to him every year he was with the Chiefs. Gates had these three QBs throw touchdowns to him: Flutie, Brees, and Rivers. How much better would Gonzalez have been with the same QB throwing to him most of his career? As of this post (12/23) Gates has more TDs than any tight end in history, although Kelce could pass him if he stays healthy.
Gronk was the most dominant tight end tony gonzalez has best stats just because he played more years gronk has the best single season season by a tight end

I think Tony Gonzalez is the GOAT but Gronk just LOOKS so different than anyone else. So dominant. Like a man amongst boys. Like a Mike Tyson knockout or a Ken Griffey Jr home-run. If y’all get what I’m saying when I say he just looks different.
He had a good peak. 4 seasons of over 1000 yards and a 110 catch season. Had 9 seasons of over 70 catches. Had 8 seasons of over 800 yards. However, Witten should NEVER be ranked of Gates when you consider the touchdown disparity between them while LITERALLY being contemporaries of each other having had the same rookie year.
Gronk is the best Tight End ever he is the only TE ever to Block and Receive at an elite level . Gonzalez and Gates have the records due to longevity and also they could never block like Gronk which is his most underrated skill as him being on the field opens so many plays for a team .
@@grapeafoundation6345 Gonzalez finished at most the 5th at run blocking in his time and apart from that 2006 season he never went back to that kind of run blocking while Gronk has been best run blocking TE in the league many years and also as the years have gone by his blocking has improved which was not the case for Gonzalez The fact that Gronk led receptions by a TE just once and had such monstrous seasons tell you how versatile and dominant he was. Winslow is the GOAT TE at ACTUALLY PLAYING THE POSITION. Easily the best route running TE of all time, had the best hands of any TE ever, and amongst the best mismatch creating tight ends of all time.
@@ajburrr Unfortunately, and it's not his fault, Casper is one of the tight ends whose legacy has most fallen off due to more modern tight ends playing their way onto the list. Realistically, most serious football fans would choose the 9 tight ends who are in the top 9 of this list plus Kelce as their top 10 in some order. At the turn of the century, Casper would have absolutely been top 10, perhaps as high as 6 (At that time I'd have had Christensen 6th and Casper 7th but you get the point.) Since 2000 however, Gonzalez, Gates, Witten, Gronk, and Kelce have played their way into the top 10, knocking the two great Raiders out. Ultimately, Winslow is the best tight end ever at actually playing the position, Gronk and Kelce have the most accomplished peaks, Gonzalez, Gates, Sharpe, and Witten have the most accomplished careers, and Ditka and Mackey are the most historically significant. The only chance for Casper or Christensen to make the list would be if you booted Newsome for one of them, and, well, not including Newsome feels wrong. Newsome would be conspicuous by his absence if he wasn't included. There just isn't room on a top 10 list for Casper or Christensen anymore.
@@michaelsloane9955 But lower than GREG OLSEN?! He isn't a HOF in any way, shape, or form, yet is in the list for some reason. Dave Casper is already in. Casper was unanimously seen as the best in the league during a span of his career. Greg Olsen hasn't shown that AT ALL.
@@ajburrr Olsen's spot should have gone to Kelce, but you are right that Casper would have been a way better pick than Olsen. Olsen was a way out of left field pick.
Putting Kellen Winslow that low is kinda disrespectful ngl, as a Chargers fan I’ve seen both AG and KW play and i would say that Winslow is a better all round tight end than Antonio Gates. Don’t get me wrong Gates is still one of the best tight ends to ever play the game, but in my opinion Winslow takes the cake.
Gronk over Gates, Olsen over a lot of those older guys too. I dont care about era, if they weren't used as much then they weren't used as much. Also where is Travis Kelce at? Where is Jimmy Graham at? Where is Dallas Clark? Some of those tight ends you have on here got like only have like 4-5K career receiving yards.
Gronk Tony Probably kelce... let's be honest And let's have the rest of that list in any order. They're all great but no one brings up how gronk carried tom brady for over a decade. Love brady.. but come on let's be honest. There has never been a more complete player than gronk. Talent, skills, size, speed, versatility and the fact that there is probably no one alive who has anything bad to say about him. Gronk
I’m ok with the whole list except for gronk at three behind Antonio gates. It’s fine to put tony in front but gates? Don’t get me wrong I love Antonio gates, but I think u are the only guy on the planet that thinks he’s better than gronk.
Noticed that. Will fix! All i can imagine is someone turning up the volume to hear me only to have their eardrums blasted by Cris Collinsworth's voice.
I'm sorry... but this list for the most part is just bad. It would be fine if it was "top 10 RECIEVING TE's of all time". But it's not, the fact that Gonzalez is 1 makes this list bad. Or greg Olsen being on the list... lol... thats just stupid. I like Olsen I think he was underrated but c'mon, you're telling me he's better than travis kelce, or Christensen, or even Jimmy Graham... no he's not, and there are many more than that, that belong on a list like this before Olsen. Maybe Jackie Smith too. And Tony G could not block to save his life, that's HALF of a tight ends duty, and yet he was one of the worst blocking TEs of all time. And Jason Witten, sure he belongs on the list at either number 10 or 9. The fact that anyone would put Witten ahead of Winslow, Newsome, or Mackie is a joke. And dude anyone who knows anything about the NFL knows that Gronkowski is the best to ever do it... Grind wasn't just one of the best RECIEVING TEs of all time...he's also a top 5 all time BLOCKER as well.
Club Shay Shay where y’all at 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾 P.S Thank God you didn’t put Gronk #1 because to me IMPO he’s Overrated, Also you got Greg Olsen Top 10 REALLY🤭🤭🤭🤯🤯🤯
Absolutely! Let's go through some proof. Playing in the same era. Kelce has 6 Pro Bowls and Olsen has 3. Kelce has 3 First Team All Pros and Olsen doesn't have any. Kelce made the 2010 All Decades Team and Olsen did not. Kelce has 5 1000 yard seasons and Olsen has 3. Kelce's career high of 1416 yards is almost 300 yards better than Olsen's career high of 1108. Kelce has 2 seasons of double digit touchdowns. Olsen doesn't have any.
Witten was a all around tight end. People don't understand it. You think catches define a tight end. Witten was in special teams when they kicked a extra point.

How could you not put Dave Casper on this list? Am I missing something?
That is a great question. He was known for his Ghost to the Post play. Casper and that play aren’t talked about often.
Ozzie new some should be higher
Where is Aaron J. Hernandez? 🙏
Gronk
Tony
Probably kelce... let's be honest
And let's have the rest of that list in any order. They're all great but no one brings up how gronk carried tom brady for over a decade. Love brady.. but come on let's be honest. There has never been a more complete player than gronk. Talent, skills, size, speed, versatility and the fact that there is probably no one alive who has anything bad to say about him. Gronk
Where's jimmy graham
Kelsey think hard it's Kelsey!!!
4:02 #47 WHAT THE FK are you doing my guy?!?
Sharpe is 2 at least arguably #1 and Greg Olsen over Brent Jones is ridiculous
Jason Witten..check the stats. Top 5 in everything.. except rings sadly.
Gronk needs to be number 2
Why is #1 at #3
The #1 should be Jeremy shockey
I'll alway say GRONK IS NUMBER 1 as tightend.
LOL...any list that doesn't include Travis Kelce is invalid.
Dave Casper
I love Gates and I know he has the numbers it just hard for me to put him in front of Gronk
go ahead.. you have my permission.
Wrong, Gronk is the greatest compare his 10 year span to any tight end ever the numbers and dominance isn’t close.
Yessssss
The only thing that held gronk back was constant injury's
Evan Wagner yup that’s it
Witten couldn't tie Bavaro's shoelaces. No Bavaro SMH 😡
i got 1. tony gonzalez 2. shanon sharpe 3. antonio gates .4 kellen winslow 5. rob gronkowski
What? No Dallas Clark? Stats show he beats half the field you have here.
Tony G=🐐
Tony G #1
Can we all agree Newsome, Winslow and a sharp would be killing it in today NFl
If anything 1 and 2 need to be flipped
I’m ok with the whole list except for gronk at three behind Antonio gates. It’s fine to put tony in front but gates? Don’t get me wrong I love Antonio gates, but I think u are the only guy on the planet that thinks he’s better than gronk.
Gronks better than them both. They can’t block save their moms lives.
Bullshit having Gronk at # 3, Gronk was the best ever.
Gates is too high . And where is Kelce
What about Hernandez
Does that mean Greg Olsen will be a Hofer?
I don’t think so, coming from a panthers fan
Probably 15 years -20 years after he retire
Easily he will get in
@@golfkiddo738 ur high
@@HunchoVed U kidding, right?
Turn your vocals up
Noticed that. Will fix! All i can imagine is someone turning up the volume to hear me only to have their eardrums blasted by Cris Collinsworth's voice.
I'd flip gronk and sharpe
Ohlsen is easily top five to seven
.. big mistake right off the gun
Gronks easily 1. Gates and Gonzalez couldn’t block for shit
Underrated Comment.
Newsome and Winslow in the bottom 5, you know nothing about 🏈
Winslow is the goat TE at actually playing the position.
Club Shay Shay where y’all at 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
P.S Thank God you didn’t put Gronk #1 because to me IMPO he’s Overrated, Also you got Greg Olsen Top 10 REALLY🤭🤭🤭🤯🤯🤯
Anthony W No Tight End Ever Had A Better 10 Year Span Than Gronk Numbers Nor Impact
Elijah James Okayyy but at the end of the day that’s My Opinion 😒😒😒
How is Gronk overrated
Gronk number 3 nope sorry he number 2 Tony Gonzales is number 1
Travis is better than Greg
Antonio Gates benefited greatly from being compared to Tony Gonzalez. It gave him a bump to be seen as a “contemporary” of Gonzalez
I'm sorry but even though i like Antonio Gates but he is in no way possible better than Rob Gronkowski
Really good list thankfully he didn’t overate gronk
Why you feel Gronk is overrated or not better then Gates ?
first
Jason witten is way to high and no Dallas Clark?
True but I do think he is top ten
Dallas Clark only had one good season
Witten was a all around tight end. People don't understand it. You think catches define a tight end. Witten was in special teams when they kicked a extra point.
Ron #1 Tony G #2
Witten should be higher
Jason witten should be ranked higher then gronkowski
Not
christian24james yessir
I highly disagree.
You are a mad man you are absolutely crazy how high are you right now
Tf no Kyle Rudolph?
Travis Kelce
Where is the Travis Kelce
Gronk is 1
First
Gronk is #1 🤷🏽♂️
Gronk is #1
Gronk is the best
Gronk number 3... you guys kidding. Who made this list is delusional.
