Many, _many_ years ago, as a young adult, I had an abcess in my upper jaw which was resistant to normal antibiotics and which eventually burst through my hard palate. The taste was nauseating, but the relief was such bliss that the prior pain was - almost, but not quite! - worthwhile.
More than 50 years later, there is still a visible mark on my dental x-rays and a place on my hard palate which feels 'odd' when the dentist presses on it!
I wonder if the cow experienced a similar, wonderful, 'aaaah' moment when the pain from the pressure just swooshed away as the pus finally flowed freely?

I would assume what the cow was going through is almost like stepping on a water balloon in your shoe at first its uncomfy and your body takes a bit to adjust but once it pops you feel almost glad because you no longer have this thing pushing up into foot but then you feel a sting pain that gets relived over time as the rubber on the balloon had slaped your foot but with the water balloon gone it allows for your foot to move like normal again and i feel this is probs the closest i could get to give you an idea of what it might feel like without knowing for sure myself

a tooth infection and or tooth abscess is truly one of the most excruciating things ever. honestly, i’d imagine that’s exactly what it’s like for the cows. the pressure is so painful but when it’s released it feels so much better. even though it still hurts, it’s nothing like the pain before it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Many years ago I had an abcess close to my eardrum. It was rather terrible. I also remember the relief when my sigter squezzed it out. It sounded like a little eksplosion when it went off.

That hole is called a cloacha, and it's literally your bone remodeling to allow the fluid to drain out. It'll be visible on your skull long after you're dead, so future researchers will be able to tell that you survived an abscess.

I admire the way you're able to talk thru this and risk having anything and everything fly into your mouth. True dedication honestly 😂

It takes a super sharp knife to miss the corium under rotten hoof. Lift and drag...slowly. Great vid.

Have you ever thought about using a really high powered LED torch to see right into the hoof? It may make seeing large cavities a bit easier. I recently got a small, high powered Olight LED torch and when I hold it on my arm, I can clearly see all the vascular system a good half cm down and my whole forearm lights up like a lamp (gotta move it around though as it gets real hot real fast). Just an idea.

2:25 go back ten seconds and you’ll understand. But I wish more people understood that about a diagnosis. To a disabled person, that diagnosis is possibly the answer to own problems. Not always through modern medicine, but a diagnosis gives you access to a whole new way to experience a world. It’s getting that wheelchair. It’s finally getting those paycheques again after being too sick to work, knowing you can at least live in this house another month. It’s people finally understanding that you’re not lying. It’s finally getting those accommodations you needed to reach just a little farther!

As a person whom has had a number of abscesses in my armpit along with surgeries to get rid of them I know how painful they are. I can not imagine having one on my foot and weighing 700+ kilos... Would be excruciating 😥 Glad you found the issue and sorted her out.

Cows have some pretty tight hooves for that fluid to not seep out.

Imagine cows that don’t have a high quality hoof trimmer like Graeme, they live their final days in pain, I’m sure.

Have you ever been curious and tasted cow hoof before? Only asking because when you held up that thin slice, it kinda looked like a chip. lol
