Bose QC 35-I is Turning On By Itself

  • My Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones are turning on by themselves.

Even if I don't turn them on or connect to them w/ my phone or laptop, they suddenly awaken by their own volition and connect to whatever device they can get their bluetooth-driven hands on.

I have the exact same problem. And the solution I got from bose support was to buy a new pair at a "discount" of $249. Some premium product.

Yeah Bose sucks. They told me the same thing even though my headphones are really well taken care of. Bose said there is nothing wrong with the headphones b/c they never did a recall. What kind of bs circular logic is that? Also, the Bose boards would beg to differ

I may try that,,,, still have the issue, but as i simply use the "auto-shut-down" option, once i stop my bluetooth.. even if the Bose restart by themself.. they power-off after.. use a little power waiting .. but can hold a lot of time before loosing all battery.. so a fix that doesnt need to open it.
I open it once, to replace the switch in case of.. but didn' think of try to clean it

CLEAN THE SWITCH!!!! its not necesary replace the switch, just open it and WD40 or some electr. cleaner and mechanically clean the contact area of the moving part, complete and you can use the headphones again...

  • @vincetabamo

there is actually no fix for this yet. Its basically a fault in the Software. The power button is only for connecting to different devices.
The workaround is to download the Bose app on your smartphone, make sure it is updated (may take some time to update qc35) afterwards, set the standby timer to 5 minutes on the app and turn off the bluetooth on your smartphone. No need to manually turn off qc35 nor touch the buttons. Just press the play button to turn it on and don't forget to change the standby timer on the app. When *turning it off* set again the standby timer to 5 minutes. I would also suggest to pair qc35 to a single device only. This worked for me

I had the same problem. I use the BOSE on my lap top. What I did was go to my blue tooth settings and removed the headset several times and kept repairing. Finally the headset started working correctly.

    • @erikgaudin

i did that trick.. with the "sleep" timer. That avoid draining the battery. When i contact Bose, the only fix they were proposed, was to make me purchase another headphone kit.. those i have are not damage at all, in fact, i rarely use them, only in the plan and in bus during winter (and not all all during the last pandemic)
