I'm noticing an influx of negative comments by those claiming this won't work or it will damage the PS4. My sons PS4 continues to run quietly and better than ever, however if you want to open your PS4, void your warranty, or risk exposing internal parts be my guess but this is how we do it and it works great for us!

funny you say that, we did all kind of things to clean our cartridges and keep our systems running, these youngsters got too many rules about how to clean electronics, thats why they keep losing their money sending it in to be fixed!
In the PC world, you can do that, but FIRST you have to either disconnect the fans from the motherboard or prevent the fan from turning... Motors produce electricity when spinning like a car alternator and if the fan overspin too much might produce electricity enough to kill or wear some electric components inside the motherboard that don't have protection from the fan line... Just before cleaning, locate the fan and just put some plastic all the way in to prevent it from spinning and then you can even blow with a air compressor, though don't use too much pressure or your whole PS4 might fly away :)

Just an update- What I found in my dead ps4 was that a bearing in the fan had stripped. It would attempt to spin and then make the worst drag and grind-like noise you could imagine. Or so I thought. Couldn't get the fan apart unless I wantes to break it, so I took a ridiculous chance by dumping a bunch of hair clipper oil in the fan while spinning. Spent 3 days, periodically turning the ps4 on and gently assisting the fan by spinning the blades with my finger. Eventually it started to spin for a few seconds, and then minutes, and now, 2 weeks later, it is spinning so silently that I often feel the need to pop the shell off and make sure it's still spinning. I'm sitting in Orbit on Destiny 2 as I type this. 😊

nice you can also use a leaf blower, it's very cheap and have perfect strong power! but DON'T LET THE INSIDE FAN SPIN, stop it with some pen or stick when blowing, these blowers can make a lot of static in the fan engine, so it's gonna burn or make it loose sleeve. :D
