I have found for gore to just keep away from his front like you said and just keep using the arial art to jump on him until he is mounted and knocked down then unleash built up gauged attack. I keep my distance and run a circle around him until it's done with it's attack cycle. Tbh using this method on other monsters I hardly ever get carted even once. I also main SA.
SA is a awesome weapon! All the styles i played so far have their strengths and weaknesses. Aerial seems to be pretty strong and beloved by the community, but i did not get warm with it. I tend to spam the mounting attack a lot, maybe thats why? But sounds like a good way to deal with magala.. i can imagine it's very effective at highly aggressive monsters, like zinogre when he is charged up!
Really hard question. I played A LOT of world (in fact, its my most played monster hunter) and i really liked the style of odogaron, but sometimes his bleeding can be a pain in the a**. Nergigante is cool too & the boss of iceborne. It's hard to say...there are so many cool monsters. Zinogre is awesome too! But i can tell you which monster i hate the most (so far): Kirin! How about you?
