The Bloody Inn and Escape the Dark Castle for me! Also just recently was gifted The Night Cage. After one play, it was enjoyable, but I'm going to need to play it more to really get a feel for it.
Nice list! I was trying to decide which game to play with my group, either Mansions of Madness or Zombicide. Now I’ve decided on both if I can. Plus Horrified and Haunted Mansion. Lol. I just want to play everything. Haha
I don't know if it has been mention, but the faceless is a great game that's always taken out during spooky season. The compass/magnet mechanic is awesome and that monster in the dark and being pursued feel really matches halloween.
I sold my copy of Fury of Dracula, it just takes too long with a lot of dead turns where you don't do much, plus there are just so many other hidden movement games that are half the time with no wasted turns..... plus when Drac just goes about in the water and yaaawn.
Great lists. Man do I wish Camp Grizzly would get a reprint. It goes for absurd prices and has a ton of content for it. Wish I was part of y’all’s game group.
Thankfully I got it years ago for 50 bucks on their website. Seen some people selling it for 800+. Love this game, but it can quickly become stale gameplay wise so we house rule some stuff.
@@entseventwenty5898 we change the setup locations of all tiles and locks to keep It interesting. Placing them wherever we want, however if a cabin has multiple tiles we usually put a lock on it. Since there is a key token and you can find the same keys in the office, we just remove the regular key token and search for it like normal. If someone dies early they can come back as another counselor. We also have Otis hiding at the start of the game, able to pop up anywhere at the start. We also allow players with keys to lock doors.
Elder Sogn is definitely on our list. Sleep Tight is a good little, spooky card game. We also go a little old school with It's Alive. Great video guys!
Not sure if anyone mentioned this one but a fun family game we like to play this time of year is Shadows in the Forest. The darker you can make the room the better for this one! And make sure the batteries in the lantern are fresh as it casts shadows WAY better!
What a great video such a diverse list between you three guys 🙌 I would love to find Bloody Inn but it is bloody impossible... probably the one that got away 😅 I still feel I need a pure horror game for my collection but I cannot find anything that really clicks with me...
Zombicide gets bad rep because it gets pushed a lot by CMON, but it's their golden cow for a reason, it's a great game, whatever your grievances for it may be.
If your list doesn't have Camp Grizzly, it is void (but understandably, it's a difficult game to acquire). I have fond memories of Betrayal at House on the Hill (1st edition blew my mind as a teenager and 2nd edition got me back into this hobby) as well as the novelty of the Mansions of Madness app...BUT I strongly recommend avoiding these games. You simply don't make interesting decisions while playing them and any points you want to give them for "atmosphere" are better spent just watching a scary movie. Instead, go with Camp Grizzly, Horrified, Cthulhu: Death May Die and The Bloody Inn.
The Conjuring, Halloween 1,2,4 & 6... Rob Zombie's Halloween, The Ring, The Grudge, Event Horizon, and Jacob's Ladder if you really want to mess yourself up...
This is a fun (and timely!) list. My favorites in no particular order: Horrified Night Cage Final Girl Nemesis Betrayal at House on the Hill Arkham Horror: TCG Bristol 1350 Don’t Go in There Gloom Vagrantsong
Last Night on Earth is the definitive Halloween Horror game IMO :) Agree with much on the bottom half of this list... some at the top not so much... but thanks for putting it together.. always appreciate others opinions
My favorite Halloween movie is a tie between the original Halloween, and Trick ‘r Treat. Games would by the Night of the Living Dead Zombicide and Final Girl.
My personal favorite halloween themed board game is Castle Party, but terror themed board game would be Escape From Aliens in Outer Space along with Dead of Winter. If you accept a little broader concept, I would say my absolute favorite tabletop game with horror theme is Dread, which is an RPG.
Hard to get this game now but so far Village Attacks is my favorite (tower defense) horror themed game. Still waiting for my (Marvel) Zombicide to arrive.
There is only one halloween game that you americans dont really have access to, and it is Atmosphere. Sure it isn't the best game mechanically but thematically it is the besssst.
Here in Canada we had Nightmare/Atmosfear. It's definitely number 1 on my list for Halloween. Actually it's my all time favourite board game. I think just because of the adrenaline rush at the end and I mean the original video board game. The DVD version wasn't as good. I have all the sequels and just got the 30th Anniversary edition. Unfortunately I don't have a game group to play it with.
A few of mine in to particular order. Monster Slaughter.(I have the Kstarter) Haunted Mansion Dead of winter City of Horror Horrified. NOTLD zombicide Ghost stories Dead by daylight Last night on earth Lobotomy 2 Resident Evil (pick one) A touch of evil. Kill Dr lucky. 100% agree that Dead of Winter is super fun coop.
I've played Betrayal a good number of times now and I have to say it is a terrible game. They keep mentioning how "broken" it is, and that's 100% true. You have to have the mindset to just play it just for shts and giggles, it is not welcoming to new players, and if you plan on drinking or 'other' then I highly recommend to stay away from this game because it will totally ruin the experience. Luckily for me I played it everytime with my favorite people so it was fun just to hang out with them, but as someone who owns over 1000 games in my collection... this is one that I will never add to it, regardless of how many new editions they keep releasing for it.
54 opening seconds of Non-Content that I can never get back. ...Wow... thanks for including almost 4 minutes of that... dude! lol Enjoy the 2 seconds of your life wasted reading this.
I think Joey would make an amazing Ash from Army of Darkness for Halloween! 👻
Or elvis from Bubba Ho Tep
Omg yes, I literally think of Ash every time I see Joey 😅
Missed an opportunity to have My Father’s Work on the list. A must for any future list of this kind imo.
Fun list. Also these are fun spooky themed games too:
The Hunger
Campy Creatures
Dracula's Feast
Broom Service
Love to see the night cage getting some love such an underrated game
Trick R Treat is literally the ultimate Halloween movie. Dressing my 5-year-old son as Sam this year...
Escape the dark castle, finally getting the praise it deserves! Thank you Joey 😊
What an awesome list. A pretty new game that would probably make my list would be Nightmare Cathedral, just for the components alone.
I think you nailed it with Elder Sign! I will definitely bust that out next Friday.
Thanks to Joey and his wife for not having a list full of the same games. You guys were awesome!!!
Yay! Nice to see Alex 🤗
The Bloody Inn and Escape the Dark Castle for me! Also just recently was gifted The Night Cage. After one play, it was enjoyable, but I'm going to need to play it more to really get a feel for it.

Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein….also Hocus-pocus😊
You forgot My Father's Work.
Genuinely one of the best gaming experiences ive ever had
Hooray for Dreadful Meadows! Will there be a formal full review done at some point?
Villainous just released an Oogie Boogie expansion making it more seasonal.
I don't know if it has been mention, but the faceless is a great game that's always taken out during spooky season. The compass/magnet mechanic is awesome and that monster in the dark and being pursued feel really matches halloween.

I second this. Needs a decent reprint.
what house rules do you use? @@nightbirdgames

Happy to see Dead of Winter at the top of your list, Wendy😊! You taught that game to me and my wife last year at Dice Tower East and we loved it!
I remember you ladies 😊 thanks for letting me teach.
Tom’s name is at the end on the summary instead of Joey
I also don't like The Bloody Inn's artwork. For some reason, it makes me ill.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this one but a fun family game we like to play this time of year is Shadows in the Forest. The darker you can make the room the better for this one! And make sure the batteries in the lantern are fresh as it casts shadows WAY better!
So many good ones: Dawn of the Zeds, A Touch of Evil, Destinies, London Dread, AuZtralia, Folklore: The Affliction, etc.
Horrified is amazing. The BGG files section has fan made monsters and a campaign. I didn’t make any of them but I’ve used them to add variety
What a great video such a diverse list between you three guys 🙌
I would love to find Bloody Inn but it is bloody impossible... probably the one that got away 😅
I still feel I need a pure horror game for my collection but I cannot find anything that really clicks with me...
Great video. I need to find more time for games this month!
Where is Alex from? I can't quite place the accent
Australia
Thanks! My guess was Australia or New Zealand
Zombicide gets bad rep because it gets pushed a lot by CMON, but it's their golden cow for a reason, it's a great game, whatever your grievances for it may be.
Hotel Transylvania! All three are hilarious and family friendly 😊
WE always play A Touch Of Evil every halloween. Mystery of the Abbey would be similar to Wendy's Chronicle of Crime.
Have y’all been to Wakulla Springs where Creature was shot? Worth the trip!
I would also suggest Campy Creatures, Fearsome Floors, and Ghostbusters the board game.
THANK YOU 🤓 WANNA ADD:
Wandering Towers (Wimsical)
Deadly Dowagers (Bizarre Theme)
Three Sisters (Growing Pumpkins)
Eschaton (Creepy Cult Deck Builder)
Similo Spookies (Quick-Simple-Fun)
Enjoyed watching this. Have a few of those games and love Halloween games. Did you pick up the new Horrified? Greek monsters

Joey & Alex, the newest DT power couple! 🙂
I'm so glad Fury of Dracula made an appearance.
I adore that ending music!
Wohoooo, Monsters on Board! :) Thanks Joey!
I LOVE Escape the dark Castle!
I watch B-Movies alone all the time. 😭😭😭
I can't wait to play the new Halloween game from Emerson Matsuuchi and Trick or Treat Studios!
The Bloody Inn = solid pic. The Thing is also maybe one of my top 5 horror movies of all time (love me a good sci-fi/psychological horror)
I would love Fury of Dracula to come back into print. Can't find it anywhere!
The Conjuring, Halloween 1,2,4 & 6... Rob Zombie's Halloween, The Ring, The Grudge, Event Horizon, and Jacob's Ladder if you really want to mess yourself up...
I with you for all that except Rob zombies Halloween, that was just bad IMHO
This is a fun (and timely!) list. My favorites in no particular order:
Horrified
Night Cage
Final Girl
Nemesis
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Arkham Horror: TCG
Bristol 1350
Don’t Go in There
Gloom
Vagrantsong
Just a note for Wendy's game there. In Dreadful Meadows you cannot put a harvester on that Dreadful tree.
100% true
Have you seen the size of that tree? There wouldn’t be enough room!
Yep, you sure can't, but I don't think I specifically said you could. 🤔
The photo showed the harvester on the Dreadful Tree.
@DTWendy oh you totally didn't. It was the photo you showed.
@rexology_bg Oh lol
No love for Last Night on Earth?
Last Night on Earth is the definitive Halloween Horror game IMO :)
Agree with much on the bottom half of this list... some at the top not so much... but thanks for putting it together.. always appreciate others opinions
Really curious about your two player Final Girl. I would like to see that in action. If it works I would love to play with my wife
Where's Scooby Doo at???
My favorite Halloween movie is a tie between the original Halloween, and Trick ‘r Treat. Games would by the Night of the Living Dead Zombicide and Final Girl.

The Thing so good. Love that movie my favorite Halloween movie
Have none of you played My Father's Work or Halloween?
Hard to get this game now but so far Village Attacks is my favorite (tower defense) horror themed game. Still waiting for my (Marvel) Zombicide to arrive.
Alex was the one who got this list right, Horrified is clearly #1, how did Wendy not even have it on her list?
It doesn't really speak to me 🤷♀️
Weeell, to say The Night Cage is not a good game, is just funny to me. Its a great game!
Chocolate factory is an acceptable #10
Thank you!
YES! CAMP GRIZZLY!!!
When does Dreadful Meadows come out?
In the spirit of Wendy’s list my favourite Halloween game is Twilight Struggle because during the time of the Cold War Halloween was celebrated
😂😂
Does that mean I can add Feast for Odin because people dress up like Vikings for Halloween?
Final Girl not in the list though ? 😮
Alex had it at #4
Thanks for the review!!!

Van Ryder TRIED to reprint Camp Grizzly.....but they couldn't get ahold of the publishers to aquire thw rights.
Lack of Last Night on Eart makes this list totally invalid...
A few of mine in to particular order.
Monster Slaughter.(I have the Kstarter)
Haunted Mansion
Dead of winter
City of Horror
Horrified.
NOTLD zombicide
Ghost stories
Dead by daylight
Last night on earth
Lobotomy 2
Resident Evil (pick one)
A touch of evil.
Kill Dr lucky.
100% agree that Dead of Winter is super fun coop.
Claustrophobia? Either version.
I love The Thing, but I think it's important to point out when recommending it that violence toward dogs is depicted in the film .

Chocolate factory? And I'm out
bloody inn 🤣 is cartoony morbid. Night Cage cool artwork but not scary 😱 even 💡📴 The Thing, Alien are the scariest 😅monsters
Fast forward to 7:45.
54 opening seconds of Non-Content that I can never get back. ...Wow... thanks for including almost 4 minutes of that... dude! lol
Enjoy the 2 seconds of your life wasted reading this.
Eight minutes before you get to the list is too long.
We did have some technical snafoos.
Thankfully you can skip ahead on TH-cam vidoes!
