Nope. It was a neat thing for the era. Ironically with all the improvements in graphics technology it would probably be cheaper to go back to filming actors.
I feel LA lends itself more to the space opera part of the universe: Like, I love the Mech Commander intro, but it's hard to portrait lore-accurate mech cockpits etc on a budget. Whereas the talk shows in some Mech Commander 2 cutscenes were top-notch, well-acted, lore-accurate and hilarious.
I REALLY appreciated that they're actually trying to portray even the SJ's as the righteous ones. They were written as the 'comically evil clanners' for way too long.
Well, they were the assholes who orbitally bombarded a planet because they lost patience with hit-and-fade attacks down there. Also, the Clans are comedically evil, minus the comedy when played straight: eugenics programs, a very painfully rigid caste system, worshipping a lunatic who may very well have murdered his own brother so he could make his own sequel to Amaris' regime, it's a very long list of why the Clans are arguably worse than House Kurita or Liao. Also, it's hard to consider a coked-out Elemental watch officer tearing a man in half for daring speak out of turn comedic.
Still no news of a GOG release. We got GOG releases for Mech5: mercs and it even mentioned it in the trailers for the DLCs. But it's conspicuously missing from this trailer.
finally! I've been wanting Clan invasion story for a long time! I like that they're doing a story narrative this time around. I hope there's a mix, or an option to also just run some missions, but I'm excited!
I'm in, im SO in. but that HUD man... like c'mon guys. you know we are going to just replace it with a modded HUD thats far less cluttered... so why not just design a good HUD and beat the modders to it lol. you guys literally made the best HUD in Mechwarrior with MW:O and you're gonna make us download a mod that makes it look just like that. like why is the weapons screen so big? I don't even want to think about how much of my screen a fully custom Direwolf would take up. even a Piranha-Prime would take up the entire side of your screen lmfao. anything that boats small arms is gonna obscure the right side of the screen. Timbie-prime only has 9 weapons + arms... Piranha has 14 + arms.
People complained about MW5 1.0 HUD being too clean and not futuristic enough and some people think MWO is too big and cluttered. Weapons screen (and everything) else need to be readable from a TV viewing distance which is something MW5 doesn't do super well. Ideally you'd have HUD scaling option to fit both use case
@@igi44 MW5s HUD was terrible at launch. It's better now in terms of where things are but yah it lacks so much character compared to MWO. You're right though there should be scaling options but the way the weapons are laid out here doesn't look like it would scale very well. The classic weapons screen could be scaled and it's alot easier to look at imo. Also again placement of things. There is no reason your star/lance info should be crammed into the corner next to the poperdoll. Put it in the top corner where the objective marker is now and put the objective marker under the lance info... Like it is in MW5 currently lmfao. Also fire group pips are not on the reticle anymore and they moved speed and heat up there for some reason. Heat makes sense but speed is probably the least useful HUD element in mechwarrior
Have to agree, the HUD still looks like something out of PlayMobil sets. They have a really great concept artist on their team, or at least they used to. Seen some of his HUD designs back when MW5 launched and they looked pretty "fighter jetty", which is something I'd expect a battlemech HUD to look like, but instead we get this weird, big, blocky, mobile game look-a-like stuff. I suppose it's for the consoles in mind, so that you can see all the details while sitting away from the screen and such, but I'm more inclined to believe the person who works on the UI stuff just isn't up to snuff designing HUD layouts/styles that look good and work well enough when it comes to gameplay. Same goes for the general menu styles too, for MW5 at least. The general visuals for basically anything that had to do with the menus, fonts, style in general, everything felt very amateurish visually speaking and almost like being pulled out of some first time indie dev project.
And here's to the people of Clan Smoke Jaguar Who say the Inner Sphere, well they just don't understand That they're only there to be won for the honor of the clans 'Cause those born from stinking flesh wombs, well they're clearly less than man If Kerensky saw you now he'd choke you with his own two hands Oh, here's to the Star League you've torn out the heart of Clan Smoke Jaguar, find yourself another cosmos to be part of
The more I read the comments, I’m finding there are a lot of people who have no idea what facism means. The clans are a Caste society ran by a council of blood names who choose a Khan from within the council. Not everything you disagree with is facist.
God I remember playing the game back on Win95. With full controls. I was 5 and I figured out how to move that M/Fer. I love this. I loved the RTS style game (I can’t recall the name). MWO even looked good (gotta see about that, Digimon Online and if there’s a way to play Battlestar Online). But FFS I’d kill for a reboot, remake or sequel to MechWarrior (Then again I feel. The same for Dead Space 3, Mass Effect, Army Of Two, BLACK, Cold Fear, RLH, Splinter Cell, non reboot MGS ie a WW2 one, a proper R6, Titanfall , and so on).
Not to mention the first story-based MechWarrior game to focus on Smoke Jaguar too. MechWarrior 3 technically does as well, but that's from the perspective of the Second Star League during Operation Serpent.

Oh, I did not realize that this is a standalone game and not just a DLC for MW5: Mercs. Proper campaigns are a lot better than the shitty random missions in MW5: Mercs. Some of the updates brought some nice missions to MW5: Mercs which feel like proper campaign missions, like the FedCom invasion of the Capellan Confederation, the Tikonov and Sarna missions were great.

But during Tukayyid one of clans tried fancy hover drop maneuver and a Comstar pilot decided to wipe out a good chunk of that clans force and command by ramming into their DropShip, by Tukayyid IlKhan was a Wolf, who survived untill clans started to settle matters within their own ranks.

@Gaming_Helm The IlKhan arrived on a dropship, but it had docked with the Dire Wolf and he was on the Dire Wolf when he died. The Dire Wolf could be called a jumpship because it had a jumpdrive and could carry dropships, or it could be called a war ship because of the sheer quantity of firepower it carried.

@@AmanOU2be absolutely loved that! 😁

They’re making a new game stop complaining lol

I loved the RTS style game (I can’t recall the name).
MWO even looked good (gotta see about that, Digimon Online and if there’s a way to play Battlestar Online).

What I like about Battletech and Mechwarrior 5 is that they go for style over photo realistic graphics, but this trailer go for the opposite route, possibly using Unreal Engine 5, meaning that a very few people would play this game, because it would have high specs, you not need a overly saturated photo realistic graphics to have a freaking good game.

In honor of blessed Blake, I welcome the clanners to Tukayyid on the 1st of May 3052
There we will break you
Plz let this game go to the Battle of Tukayyid. I’m betting the aerospace fighter shown in this trailer is the kamikaze pilot who crashes into the drop ship carrying the IlKhan
That wasn't Tukayyid. The Pilot who kamikazed clanner ship was a Rasalhagian and it happened as the IlKhan, then Smoke Jaguar, who was "visiting" Clan Wolf flagship.
@@Jaegerrants Definitely 👍 I’m aware of that , I just wanted to make that observation I noticed in the trailer. The pilot was Kell’s ex girlfriend. My bad on my poor grammar, what I meant was (do Tukayyid) stop, new sentence (btw I noticed that ship looks like it maybe the famous moment when the Jags lost their IlKhan). Again sorry for the confusion.
Guys, the IlKhan was on a jumpship. The type of ship that carries dropships.
@@kryptonianguest1903 really? I could’ve sworn he was on the clan equivalent of a union class dropship overseeing the invasion and checking up on the Steelwolves clan since the crusaders never really agreed with the warden clans on how to prosecute the invasion. But if I’m wrong that’s cool.
I'll get this when released of course. But, I can't help myself...
