Pgi have always been notoriously bad with their promo, it's just on brand for them at this point. Don't know why they dont just hire out an awesome film studio to make a badass trailer movie like most games do. Mechwarrior used to have so many great ones in its time, PGI just slack off on alot.

Jags were smoked on Huntress and Il Khan can say and order whatever he want but even Clan Wolf can't change the past ;)
Kind of weird editing, feels sort of disjointed, but pushing that aside it's neat to see how much better the mission presentation seems to be. It's also interesting to glimpse what must be Jayden's Trial of Position at the end, particularly how that cutscene seems to trip just short of making their third kill as if some rival has stomped out to snub his shot at Star Captain. Given the rest of the Marketing presents him as a Star Commander, that's probably how it goes.
Yeah you can tell they sped up the game by a fucking lot for the trailer. I'm hoping the UI isn't that huge when we get our hands on it because it does seem huge for what it is. Scaleable at least.
Honestly, I disagree. I think that this A.I. (I don't like the name "BB") sounds good, but I, personally, like the one from MW5:M the most. That doesn't mean that I think it's better, though - I think both are great in their own ways, and can't tell if one is better than the other, objectively (...as far as one can be objective, at least). I've only played MW5:M and MWO, though, so my sample size is both small and incomplete. (Perhaps I'd like the one from MW3 the most - like @MrTBSC said, for instance.)
What do you think of gyro support? I can’t believe they have aim assist in the last game… I thought this was a sci-if tank simulator, so I just played with the aim assist off. But if we could AIM with the gyro while having all other analog controls… would this be awesome or unrealistic and too easy? Whatever the case, they do need to get rid of aim assist in this game.

I'm gonna be that guy: I want it to be restrictive. I want it to restrict OMNI mechs to how they should be restricted according to lore and TT rules. I.e. No armor type or weight changes, no engine size changes, no structure type changes.
@@Evinthal84 You can actually see that the fixed equipment, is indeed fixed. Armor, structure, engine and (presumably) other non-pod mounted equipment (like engine heat sinks and jump jets in some desings) is set in stone. The mechlab is almost the same as the one MWO has for Omnis, just an extra restriction in how many slots you can allocate to weapon types beside the amount of that type of weapon (say 2 missiles up to 4 slots total, instead of MWO 2 missiles).
@@Evinthal84 no I can actually agree with that, but with TT rules, you weren’t limited based on the weapon type, you just had tonnage limits and anything that was fixed or was part of the structure/armor or engine couldn’t be changed. But the weapons weren’t confined to “hardpoints” and jump jets weren’t limited to only certain mechs. You could make ANY Mech have ECM, active probes, jump jets, targeting computers, etc., just as long as you had tonnage and crits for it.

I found it looked pretty dumb myself. They didn't even iron our the animation as you can see the gun arms do a little 'wave' to the sides for no reason half a second later. It's bad. And what is that clicking sound the footsteps make!?
Hoping there's a campaign plot-twist. 3049 was the Operation Revival Kick-off. You can anticipate the launch waves departed 3048. By 3059, canonically, Operation BULLDOG would kick off and remove the Jaguars from the Inner Sphere. The trope of turncoat jaguar already exists because of Trent, and be a perfect parallel for the MW5:C protag to assume. Mason would be in his 50's by the Clan Invasion's start, rolling in full LosTech provided ROM didn't merc him by then. Hell, I can see him and his outfit cut off in the invasion corridor as IE/Explorer Corps sees the chaos of that slice of periphery going dark. It'd be funny if the Clan protag ends up being able to join the original MW5 crew as the changing of the guard. As in Turtle Bay should prove to be a pivot point supported by earlier Jaguar excesses. The first 3 years of Clan War saw the greatest amount of plot change in Battletech (Operation Revival commencement thru Tukayyid result). It literally ushered in another tier of rules and introduced a power level that has never been exceeded by other tech tiers. Good thing Clan War/JumpShips have double batts, because they are going to have to revise the passage of mission time and travel time to factor in how quick and rapid the campaigns were. I can already see Tukayyid as being a centerpiece phase. MW5 Clans Protag being captured by Team Mason as Marshall Focht (un-canonically) requisitions mercenaries in order to plus up ComStar numbers, a little bit of Spheroid trickery, for the batchall he laid at Tukayyid in 3052. Besides the graphics improvement, sadly I don't see any improvements to the game formula. Expect lance-size element, woo, a full extra mech. At this point, I wish we'd get Elementals and vehicles augmenting the force. 5 Omnimechs, 5 Omnivees, 2 Stars of Elementals, a point of Aero, should still be able to fit in a Union-C. I'd rather get a scaled-down set of graphics in order to actually see Trinary vs Battalion tier battles. Anyways, past The Great Refusal in 3060, the setting plot goes to shit with the contrived FedCom Civil War that more or less killed Battletech's first production run, the retcon and hashing out phase that is the Jihad, the aborted mess that is Republic of the Sphere... might as well timeskip straight to ilClan.
@@avivgolan9241 mods get broken via patches all the time, but luckily the nature of modding is that you have the ability to fix it and just update the mod to work post-patch. Earlier on it’ll be tougher to keep up with cuz they’ll be trying to fix any issues that slipped through the cracks of the initial game launch.
Man this game is so top secret. I wish they talked about how many different mechs are in the game or how man missions or if its going to have open missions or how many DLCs are coming.
The mechs were so cookie cutter. Unless you had the legendary mechs, everything had mostly the same weight limit, same speeds, etc across most all of the weight classes. They didn’t even seem to honor the turn speeds, as using a mouse seemingly let you move as fast as you wanted.., not very realistic…. And tossed those specifications in the trash.
I almost think that's just added sound for the trailer so it sounds a bit off. They will do that because otherwise you wouldn't hear the sounds over everything else going on in the trailer. It's an odd choice for sure but I'm guessing/hoping that's not the true sound
Isn't it just? I couldn't really point it out until you said it. It's just incredible how boring they make it look and sound! is it the music? sound effects? the trailer from Mechwarrior 3 was x1000 times better
Looks good. Definitely integrated some feedback from Mercenaries into it (such as editing weapons groups in mission). By far the biggest touch is all the mech design options and choices (so much more than Mercenaries). Looks cool. I'll get it at some point.
01:46 just what is that mech producing shin sparks? Makes no sense. If it was feet hitting metal floor it should be flat spark pattern from the feet no half way up the shins.
While I'm really anticipating the game and will definitely buy and play it happily co-op with a friend of mine, I got some complaints. I don't want to spoil the party, I'm just a but underwhelmed by parts of the graphic presentation. Let me explain. We're having 2024 and the Unreal Engine is in Version 5.4+. So f.i. high quality assets with high polygonal count should be less of an issue. Looking closely at the trailer, some things just don't look the part: 0:34 and 0:47 - the trees - whats going on here? 0:52 the union-ship textures are really blurry and lacking detail, the material has hardly any properties (specularity, normals/bump, displacemnent, reflections, etc), 1:10 the water (hard to see, you need to pause and play with the frames forward and backwards with the comma and point key to find it) looks really bad - repetitive tiling like it's 2014, you can really do better than that, 1:16 - the damage on the tarmac/runway: These are the worst decals I can imagine for that kind of application. Generally it looks very "clean" and "gamy" in many parts, too "friendly". On a positive note: They really managed to make the Metahumans look "fit". Another thing regarding the gameplay: Rockets still have visible polygonal kinks in their smoke trajectories, in some of the scenes. The Mechs have no physics - while I understand this is really hard to pull off, I'd love a Mech to stumble, fall, stand up, struggle, limp, etc. - for instance when running into each other or missing a jump with a poor landing etc. And then there are many recycled assets from MW5:Mercs - so it seems. While legit in order to save resources, I'd wish for an overhaul in terms of details and design. I'd crave for more realism and "dirt", less bling, maybe this is something that modders can improve a bit in the future. Anyhow. I'm happy the franchise is alive and will support it, of course!
This trailer simply makes me want to go watch Tex Talks Battletech episode "The Battle of Tukayyid"... "Hey Smoke Jaguar! Remember when you had a CLAN!!!"
Wow only positive comments are in the "top comments" I hope that didn't cost too much. The footsteps for the mechs are just... no? They're neither realistic or cool. I have a 12" sub under my desk, my neighbors should've felt that madcat walking by, it didn't even kick on. Weapon sounds are alright, VO work is pretty good. Music is alright, listening to it again I'm wondering if the reason the footsteps sound like clacky little pieces of metal is because there's so already so much deep bass in the music? The writing... reads like people with beautiful, colorful hair desperately trying to walk the line between not platforming authoritarianism with a lore-embracing depiction of the smoke jags and not pissing everyone off with cannon violations. EG bad. Shame it's probably too late to fix it, Battletech has so many great stories that MW could benefit from. At first glance I thought the VTOLs were just hovering in place, confused about what to do, because you know, PGI and AI. I see now that they are doing stuff, they are just bigger and slower than an assault mech. I'm not sure why this is a thing they've prominently displayed here, those VTOLs are not fun or cool, they are just big floating DPS sponges. A tactical view for controlling team mates. Holy shit, I've wanted that for a decade. Great job, much love. The UI looks clean, again nice work. Visually it's about the same as before, in other words, badly outdated in 2024. The textures and models are solid. However the mechs don't react to being hit much if at all (animation issue) and the weapon hit effects are bad. The fire and spark effects are cheesy and look like they would've been out of date if they were in the original MW5 at launch. I can't help but notice the large number of jump cuts and very limited display of uninterrupted gameplay. Given how incredibly bad the gameplay design aspect of the procedural map generation was in launch-day MW5 (the expansion missions WERE better) and what a complete crap show the AI was, there is no way I'm buying this until I see clear evidence of substantial improvement. Sincerely, a-30 year Mechwarrior Veteran.

Pgi have always been notoriously bad with their promo, it's just on brand for them at this point. Don't know why they dont just hire out an awesome film studio to make a badass trailer movie like most games do. Mechwarrior used to have so many great ones in its time, PGI just slack off on alot.

@@chungang7037 Yep, I'm well aware. Call it cautious optimism.

I hope we don’t get robbed like we did with Mechwarrior 5: mercenaries
in what way?
Neat to see that mw5 is not only getting new story and new stompy bois... but almost a complete overhaul at the same time
If you want me to think of Clanners as anything other than mindless robots you have a hard road ahead.
if you'd read any of the clan books you wouldn't look goofy right now
spoken like a true spheroid
