I'm here because I'm trying to figure out if private property is protected BY LAW from hobby drone invasion. What is permitted and not permitted in regards to safety and privacy.
The FAA is actually responsible for all rules and regulations regarding Unmanned Aircraft and Manned Aircraft. The FAA has many rules regarding drones, and things are changing rapidly regarding rules for hobby and commercial drone operators. www.faa.gov/uas
@@AZ-Drone Yes, but they completely avoid the conversation about privacy. That is an attack on private property rights and safety issues for women and children.
Hey man Great Job 👍🙌👏... Very important information and informative as well.. I learned a lot one sitting with You...I don't know why I haven't been found your channel... I'll stay tuned in... Looking forward to seeing what creative content you have on your agenda... WOW... Thanks...
I'm in the market for a drone and was looking at Kittyhawk just to check out the areas I was interested in flying. Everything was good to go, then I watched the AZ Drone video on flying in wilderness areas, which AZ is full of. No go. Seems like Kittyhawk and B4UFLY will not warn you of wilderness areas. Airmap seems to be more comprehensive and easy to interpret, whereas Skyvector is the gold standard but hard to decipher to the newbie. Also, most of the trailheads in Sedona indicate a No Drone Zone.
It's hard to be certain any app covers it all. That's why it's always up to the Pilot in Command to be responsible for their flights (that shows up so many times in the 107 test). While studying for my part 107 I learned about the wilderness areas. Good thing I did too, Granite Mountain and Lynx Lake in Prescott are both wilderness areas. Peregrine falcon nesting in one spot, bald eagles in the other. And given the number of drone videos I've seen around Lynx Lake, many people aren't aware. To your second point about Sedona. Flying in Sedona has been weird for a while. The signs popping up on the trail heads are often unenforceable. Check out this video from the AMA about Sedona. th-cam.com/video/N5_UqgYQdoE/w-d-xo.html
@@AZ-Drone I'm in Tucson now but lived in Sedona. I guess there is a gray area where as long as you don't take off or land in a wilderness area you are okay? There are a lot of places where that would be possible in Sedona but if you wanted to fly in Boynton or Longs Canyon that would be beyond the scope of the law. I don't think it's baked into the firmware yet, but I can see where DJI could force your drone down if you did fly into a wilderness area. It already does that if you are in a restricted area, yes? I believe it will give you an ample warning first. Airmap on the computer seems to match up well with the sectional charts. Also, DJI just raised their prices 15% (tariffs) so If you are looking for another drone, now is the time to buy from B&H, etc before they have to restock Anyways I'm probably going with the EVO.
Wilderness areas typically require flying no lower than 2000 feet AGL. This is seen on a sectional chart with dots on the inside of a solid blue line that denotes the boundaries of the wilderness area. Since your drone is usually restricted to not higher than 400 feet, effectively you cannot fly over a wilderness area. Conceivably you could get a waiver either for the altitude or even the wilderness area itself; researchers do it often enough.
Hey, Rich I'm new to Drone's and I am doing as a hobbyist. I live in Tucson I think you do as well. I was just wondering if you had any places that would make for cool videos? I have had alot of trouble finding places to fly here. Even when I use aps like kittyhawk and sky vector I always seem to have someone come and tell me " You cant fly that here" . I am always polite and apologize and immediately leave but it's getting to the point where i'm considering selling my drone and giving up. I LOVE taking aerial photography of Tucson but it seems no matter how well I research and how legitimate my flight locations are I still constantly being told by authorities " you can't do that here". These are all places mind you that kittyhawk and skyvector claim its okay to fly in. I was flying off of Tangerine rd in the blm land and someone saw me flying called the rangers out and they asked me to leave. Any tips would help but im honestly at my wits end with all of this. It's starting to seem not worth the headache. Thanks Rich love you're vids!
Sorry to hear you're having a tough time finding places to fly. I actually live up in Prescott, but I'm thinking there will be more time in the Tucson area for me later in the year. I'm surprised to hear you've had issues in BLM areas. I've always had great success with BLM areas. To my knowledge there isn't anything "on the books" when it comes to flying BLM properties. National Monuments, National Park, Wilderness areas. They're all restricted. But general BLM land where there isn't a wilderness area is usually fair game. Did the rangers actually site regulations, or did it seem they were making it up as they go? P.S. I'm looking on Skyvector.com right now and I do see a few Wilderness areas on the map as well. As I'm not too familiar with the area I'm not sure where you're trying to fly.
A nice place to fly a little was away from Tucson is Courtland AZ just outside of Tombstone. Abandoned town with the jail and a few things still standing.

How about a video about where we CAN fly our drones in Arizona?

Thanks so much for this video. My husband is new drone owner and we will be visiting AZ and wanting to fly the drone. This was so very helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy the trip!
