    Thank you so much!! I've been struggling all summer to add gold lettering and graphics to leather luggage tags, and I've wasted a lot of time and effort. Glad I could help! it works best one smooth finished leather, no so good on raw vegtan, because the glue soaks into the raw leather to fast, need the glue to float ontop, so your application should work well

      @@LaserEngraving911 That's reassuring, thanks! If I may ask, have you ever experimented with using tape or liquid mask to keep the glue in place on your design versus creating an acrylic stamp? The stamping technique seems perfect for a scenario wherein I'll be making the same design repeatedly, but if I'm making different monograms for each customer, my desire for efficiency wants there to be an easier way. Haha. Thanks, your channel is wonderful.

    Excellent !. Do you think stamp rubber would make a embossing stamp as well if glued to a hard backing. I think it would go better into the little grooves of the leather, or maybe it would push out from the stamp and ruin it all.

    • @LaserEngraving911

  • @DoctorSib

    I usually use heat transfer foil vinyl, but I'm curious how using embossing powder would go! Do you think that using a heat press would melt the powder effectively with a silicone sheet cover, or do you think it would be problematic with the glue?
    Another fun idea: engraving the leatherette journals and pouring the embossing powder into it! (Making sure of course that there's no PVC in the journals. 😆)

    • @LaserEngraving911
      @LaserEngraving911  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, absolutely its possible but you might smash the powder and not get the raised effect, as far as pouring in the engraving, you would also have to get the glue in there well which could be problematic. But def worth a go!

    You talk about cutting this out of paper theoretically, you could take a blank sticker material such as the every full page labels white not cut it down and make your stencil out of that because you could stick it in place I could stay in place until everything was done, and then it simply peels off easy

    You're using the term embossing incorrectly for leather.
    Embossing in leather means its being actually compressed/depth to the design via pressure and/or heat.
    What you have done is called stamping, not embossing. Very very different.
    Stamping is essentially painting/colouring.
    Embossing is pressing depth into the material.

    • @kerrypratt6077
      @kerrypratt6077 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I believe if you make the stamp with enough depth that you can probably combine the two processes. Emboss the leather using the positive and then apply the glue, or perhaps just fill the embossed mark on the leather with the powder, and then heat it up to fuse the powder into the embossing.
