Love This. I do something similar. Where you are wiping away the paint I wrap my wet paper towel in a cricut scraper (As that is what I have - any type of squeegee would work) and use as a squeegee and find I get a nice clean scrape without wiping away the paint from the design.
Thank you 🙏 Also the music is definitely not distracting. You do you! We come for the content you share. Not to judge you on your choice of music. Once again thank you for sharing your creativity ❤
I also found this tutorial interesting and inspiring! I do laser engraving and my wife likes "birds",so, is there a source for the engraving you used in this video? I looked around your links but didn't find anything. Thanks, Gary Linn
I often do my own custom designs. I am been contemplating doing digital downloads on etsy but I have to research it a little. I am glad this inspired you!
Easy Peasy. If you are new to lasers, then just play. A LOT! Get your hands on as much scrap wood as possible. Honestly, color filling is easy once you practice a little. Once you start, a whole new world will open up to you! AND most importantly, have fun!
Thank you for sharing an awesome video! I’ve been playing around with some designs for charcuterie boards and wanted to learn more about filling in the etching /engraving with epoxy. Your tutorials will certainly help. BTW, don’t listen to the haters, the music was nice and relaxing, perfect 👌
Glad it helped. I am working on more techniques for future videos. And thank you. I turned the background music down a hair to see if that was better. I appreciate the feedback!
I have heard that. I think you would need to experiment a little. Try a polyurethane or a polyacrylic. I think they take longer to really dry. Look for other products by Zinsser. They make the Bullseye shellac that I use. Good luck.
@@1elephantmemories Great video, appreciate the brushing tips too! FYI, I have had polyurethane yellow on me after mild UV exposure. Polyacrylic might be a better alternative.
@@rslazas Will have to give them both a try. I am not sure both are good as actual wood grain sealers. I tried a varnish once and it did not really work as a grain sealer. However, if you use a clear varnish at the very end that has UV protection in it, it is a great finish. That will help with the yellowing.
It is not as bad as you think. After color filling the white, where you see the black is actually higher than the white, so it is easy to lightly touch that raised area. I have moderate arthritis and don't have a problem. Sometimes I will even have to use a magnifying glass, but is really easier than you think.
Thank you. I have tried that myself, but didn't get the results I was looking for at least in my designs on this wood. Also, white will pick up the burn from the laser, so typically, you will need a few passes with drying in between to get it a bright white. Love the suggestion and will try it again. Cheers.
There are all different mediums you can use to add color to your engraving. Using paint is one, colored epoxy is another, acrylic ink or even straight up pigment powder.
Thank you for the feedback. As a creator, I am always looking for ways to improve the quality of my videos. Changing up the background music was recommended. I will search around for others.
This was a very fun weekend project. Feel free to ask questions in the comments below.
Great video. Clear and to the point, with added tips and advice. I was so interested in your work I didn’t notice the music.
The finished pieces are beautiful.
Thank you. I do love this subject matter.
Brilliant. Now I can add that to my project inlays. You are the best!
Glad I could help!
I have used the same technique on my signs, very good job!
Thank you very much!
Thank you that was so well explained. I am going to try this today.
So glad it was helpful!

That's a great idea!
Very well done with detailed explanations. I will try this on a laser engrave.
Awesome. Have fun with it.
Loved watching you make these. Thank you 😊
Glad you like them! One of my favorite designs.

I appreciate that! And thank you for taking the time to comment. It is the best way to help small channel creators like me:)
Thanks. New laser cutters are coming out with inkjet print heads. Will save you hours of painting, and look perfect.
Sounds interesting but possibly expensive. The inks, especially for wood is very expensive and often do not come in white. I will keep my eye out1

awesome
Thank you! We are working on some other techniques for future videos.
Wow really what laser any more information please thank you
I have an older Epilog Mini 50 Watt laser. However, any laser should work fine. You may have to do multiple passes to get a good depth.
@@1elephantmemories oh ok I just got mine up and running, so we’ll see kind of nervous

for such a quality made video you should have x4 the sub! thanks for the work!
Thank you so much. Still learning the TH-cam thing.

What other sealers can be used as for some reason Shellac isn't that easy to get in the UK?

I've used clear acrylic spray paint before for sealing wood for either paint or CNC carve and paint

Nice project but I could never do the detail painting.

Where did you get the printer?
I have an Epilog laser. You could use a CNC or even hand carve with a chisel or an electric hand carver.
Was the paint water based?
Yes. It is an acrylic craft paint.
Ma perché a me non si toglie la vernice? Ho passato prima spray trasparente lucido
I finish seal with a tabletop epoxy (in resina epossidica)
use a squeegee and do all the white in one pass, not 10

Why are all these videos labeled color fill when it is just painting.
There are all different mediums you can use to add color to your engraving. Using paint is one, colored epoxy is another, acrylic ink or even straight up pigment powder.
Helpful but your music is very distracting🙁

The background music was perfect elevator music for me, didn’t even notice it.
