ORAS were my final purchased pkmn games. Not putting in the Battle Frontier is when I knew the direction the franchise was going in. It became apparent the plan was to make as much money as possible by doing the absolute bare minimum. Have not purchased a game since. I was attacked by a lot of my friends online and IRL. Told I was tripping and hating for no reason. Fast forward to today and now it appears many have caught on to what I saw a decade ago. Its all good though. I can still play the old games and fanmade games/mods.
I really like ORAS, but hard to argue with the idea of that it was the start of an arc towards a certain kind of game - arguably, Scarlet and Violet are a departure from that style, but they have their own problems
ORAS are my favorite Pokémon games and as someone who’s never played the original RSE games, I can’t speak to how disappointing the omission of the Battle Frontier is. However, from the way people describe and love it, I do think of what they could’ve done just to make the games just that much better.
ORAS is really good, even if the battle frontier never existed in any other game, ORAS would still be exceptionally good, but man the battle frontier would have been awesome in it
Only 53 likes???? WHAT THE HELL??? Bro at this quality you’d have to have at least 5k likes MINIMUM. I just know this is going to pop up on everyone’s feed in a few months and gain millions of views.
No battle frontier was really bad, everytime i talk with other people about Oras they all bring that point : could have been the best pokemon if BattleFrontier was included Battle Maison in XY , then in ORAS and they "change it" to Battle tree in Sun and Moon (repetitive boring endless grind for BP mode) Your EndGame in Oras was basically go Catch all your Legendaries Farm Blissey bases for Xp or Pokemon League for Money Farm Battle Maison for Battlepoints Breed competitive pokemon i was expecting to go have fun in the Battle Factory or Battle Pike :/
They really should added the Battle Frontier as a free update for 2015. Hell, patch in X and Y to support the stuff added in ORAS, and that could’ve placated the fans expecting a new game.
I'm currently replaying omega ruby, amazing as ever. I just wished they had it more like emerald instead. A baffling example is retaining wattson's team from ruby sapphire.
The post-game in ORAS felt quite meh to me, the Battle Maison was just so damn boring i tried it once and it felt so underwhelming. Who asked for this?
It was the first game i skipped because of that missing feature (and just having had replayed emerald before it) and i had been heavily into X/Y were i really got into breeding and building a competitive game, btw could you elaborate on why u think those remakes are so great?
I can! I think as far as giving the originals a facelift with a lot of care and attention to detail, it's hard to do much better than ORAS. The delta episode is a really cool epilogue for the original story, and the eon flute events with loads of legendary catches are really cool. I also personally place quite a high premium on the national Pokedex being all of the mons in the game until that point. I think it looks really good as well, battling is fun, generally speaking I think it is of a high quality as a game, barring the critique that this video explores. Thanks for the comment!
even with a battle frontier oras would be worse then emerald simply due to fucking up the balance of hoenn, im not saying the hoenn games were ever hard but if the game hands you a legedary pokemon simply for collecting a handful of gymbadges around the halfway point it is dogshit level game design.
Not sure I really agree, nothing in the game at all forces you to use said legendary, and other games including RS hand you legendaries throughout as well, though at a later point the game (which you also aren't forced to use)
It's funny cause the Hoenn Battle Frontier is horrible, honestly I think the Battle Tower and battle facilities as a whole could be brought back if they were made a lot more newcomer friendly. Just make each of them a doubled Elite Four, you face eight trainers before fighting a notable strong trainer at the end, and you’re done. But if you want, you can keep your battle streak going and get rewards for reaching certain thresholds, allowing for endless replayability for those who want to challenge themselves, all the while lowering the point of entry and keeping that skill ceiling.
I mean what you've described is really quite similar to what the battle tower does, barring maybe that the battles are typically easier than E4 fights. you get progressively greater BP as you advance, fights get harder, and there's a strong trainer at 35 and 70 wins
i want to be honest ORAS was a good game but a disappointing pokemon game for me in the long run since I have Emerald and there wasn't any reason to play more of that game after making my hideout and exploring a bit of the region through the eon flute. (Not having online also hurts this game a lot). As for the HGSS section I prefer those games by a mile since the artstyle, music and generally the stuff I can do there on my own+ what I can do with a friend in those games locally is something I prefer over ORAS. I also like to fight red or Steven (Emerald) instead of nobody like in ORAS.
ORAS could also have used a Steven/Red type battle for really late game, would have added quite a bit. I'm not sure what you mean by lack of online for Oras though, I did loads of online stuff in ORAS when completing full natl dex
I think you've actually highlighted potentially the biggest reason that it didn't come back: the much larger National Dex. In Emerald there was 386, PtHgSs 493. Even accounting for Legendaries and Mythicals, you're still looking at around 200 more as of Gen 6. I'm not defending the choice, but the amount of time and effort that would be required to design so many competitively viable yet still somewhat balanced Pokémon is unrealistic. And unfortunately, as a main series game, it had a pretty strict deadline of November to release before Christmas. As I say, I don't necessarily like it; while I rarely play post game myself, I agree that it should be an option for those who enjoy it. But I suspect priorities were chosen, and post game non-story stuff is easier to copy from the previous game.
you do raise a valid point in favour of gamefreak on this one, it would have been incredibly labor intensive to actually include all those mons, though arguably some of the leg work was already done with the mons with comp sets in the maison. thanks for the comment, very good points!
Having a pokemon with Defog was a real pain at that time , since Defog was only available in DPP, you had to catch and get pokemon from previous gen with all the right IV , without the IV dude telling you ... Breed them until you get the right moveset , then transfer them over to the next gens .... and do that all over again when the meta change with a new gen and you need a new move set You had to do that until UltraSun&Moon come out with a Defog Move Tutor
dont really buy this, since we have the battle maision which has competitive sets for plenty of pokemon. bear in mind in the original battle frontier, the same sets were used in different facilities, the thing that differentiated the facilities was the format of the battles and the overworld elements.

Yeah very much agree, I loved catching legendaries after the main plot but would have played the game a lot more if the frontier was included
7:27 amazing how you can pinpoint the EXACT point the franchise died
I can't believe people were actually surprised that BDSP were hot garbage
BDSP are easily my biggest disappointment, waited years and years for gen 4 remakes and then they colossally bungled them

yeah an addition later on in the console's life would have been really nice
The battle frontier needed to lower the win streak.
It needed to be in ORAS too

I can see for gym leaders they try to balance updates with faithfulness, but certainly Wattson's team is just worse in RS and ORAS so no doubt here
The post-game in ORAS felt quite meh to me, the Battle Maison was just so damn boring i tried it once and it felt so underwhelming. Who asked for this?
Yeah the Maison just isn't very good, tbh even a regular battle tower like in RS would have been nice
@@tortoisecity i agree with you on that

I feel like the series has really been in decline since gen 5, like Gamefreak just isn't good at making games for the 3ds, and especially the switch.
I really didn't enjoy x and y or swsh, so can agree to some extent, though I really liked scarlet and violet

They definitely did a lot of that work with the Maison in x and y too, so would have easily been copied over when developing Oras
