We have had our eyes on this rc car for what seems like FOREVER! Now here it is for its first bashing session, the Redcat Wendigo! This rc truck is 1/10th scale 4wd brushless rock racer! It looks like a crawler, but with a brushless motor we expect it to bash hard! Let us know your thoughts in this comment.
Update: After filming this video, we ran the Wendigo more off camera, and the tires did come unglued. They will have to be repaired.

It has crazy torque steer it def needs some aftermarket swaybars and may b shock adjustments but also looks like a great truck happy for you guys that you got one

This is gonna be my 1st rock racer.
Ours has not held up well over time.
The color scheme looks outstanding and love the rock racer scale format. Tires and wheels look pretty nice for RTR. Plenty room for folks that love the upgrade process but none seem necessary. Imagine a sensored combo?!
Plus, the Wendigo eats The Hill's lunch!
I have one Redcat MT10E and it's a great rig. This one looks like a big value and a great first rock racer.

Thanks fr the review! I may add the Wendigo to my collection. I have an Axial Bomber V2 that is becoming a fun truck, but ouch. It needed all new steering and suspension links and a 3500kv brushless system to bring it to life with a higher starting price. The Wendigo (I've been doing some research) needs some sway bar mods, maybe a few other tweeks, but looks like a lot of fun that is close to right when you open the box!
It was 🤯. Drove great, did great on the hill. Abby do get CRAZY🤪🤪🤭🤭 with the controls. It SURVIVED Her so it definitely gets 👍👍from me.😋😋😋. Hope those puddles didn't have any poor polliwogs🐸/🐸tadpoles in them. If so it's the first time for polliwog🐸 Roadkill I've ever seen. 😂😂😂😏😏😉😉. ⚓⚓👍💜🎊💖👍⚓⚓.

The truck is a great truck with some shock adjustments and a aftermarket sway bar it should make it handle a little better and get rid of some of that torque steer

Great video guys. On 3s the thing it's crazy. What made mine controllable I installed a gyro receiver it helps control the straight a way acceleration and keeps it in a straight line.

Crazy that it can't drive straight on the pavement, but it can sit sideways on the hill without flipping...
Thanks for the review. Love my wendigo. Stiffen suspension, add a swaybar. Makes it better. I geared down with a higher kv motor. Run on 2S.

Hey anybody who sees this and still wants to buy a wendigo make sure the slipper clutch is not too tight withwr from the factory or while you build the kit. It uses shitty bent washers for the slipper tensioner so i would also change that out for a spring. Itll save you from breaking shafts and axles like everyone else

I remember redcats was splash proof. Not waterproof.. Lol!! My earthquake 8e redcats truck was splash poor. Couldn't go threw water well. I had to replace esc and servo and radio and receiver because of it. But frame was tough thou.. and I wish I didn't get rid of it. I could kept it and fix it up more. There was a guy selling kit that u can either used the shredder arms to widen it out more. Redcats rc is ok and quality ok. Just they needed a bet quality control because they had made 1/5 scale truck 8s truck that kept falling apart because they didn't lock tight screws. I believe was r5 truck they call it. It's sad that they didn't remake it better for guys that can compete with arrma or traxxas.. but this is kool truck

Great choice of batteries, I highly recommend Lectron Pro 3s 5200mah 50c batteries along with Lectron Pro ACDC 10a charger. I believe it is one of the best RC products for the money!
What 3s battery are you using?
You have to try some wider tires on it! It's sooo much more fun, especially in sand and mud 😉😉😁

Bought this truck after watching. Broke the center shaft within the first 10 minutes of driving it. I still like the truck though.

@@TheRcSaylors replaced the shaft and it broke again within 5 minutes. It now sits on the shelf. This is my second redcat rc and I've had nothing but issues with both. No longer a redcat customer which sucks because the new markman looks awesome.
@@brandonthornborough4433 my first redcat was in 06 i think, gas powered truck, the dog bones would fly out every 5 min, redcat knew it was shit and sold upgrades, i didnt by another redcat till last year, the gen7 pro. Its a great truck

This is in interesting but odd duck in the RC world. It is set up like a crawler but isn't one. But a solid axle basher is more of a monster truck thing. They seem pretty well built but have no specific purpose, making it a great first rc for kids or novice adults. Basically it does most thing at a mediocre level, with pretty good durability.
Biggest downside has gotta be the tires, right? I really enjoy your outlook of this RC 👍😎⚓

put weighted hubs to it and 120mm smaller tires instead of 130mm new servo what a difference that made. didn't have to chase it as much
Needs a rear anti sway bar, especially on 3S. That "wheelie" is torque twist
And it has quite a bit of torque twist.
i know this is sorta an old video and hope you respond, anyways. I really love the idea of the wendigo and want to buy one. Are there upgrades to make it reliable? or do i need to avoid all together. I cant seem to find anything else, as you said, like it that i find appealing....any recommendations?
I have one it's incredibly well built all the links are way thicker than any other RC I've ever seen and it's quite quick and powerful especially on 3s. The biggest problem is balance all you have to do is put some wide deep dish rims and tires on it (I put the munition wheels) and performs beautifully...
Get a losi hammer rey instead or the losi lasernut. You'll be much happier in the long run. Both are faster and both have much better suspension and balance. This thing tips over if you just think about turning

What distinguishes this as a "Rock Racer"? Please do a video where you run it in an area suited to rock racing. Bring along a 1/10 MT, something like a Granite BLX, and have them run head-to-head. Seems to me that with this vehicle what you're gaining in ground clearance you're losing to a high CG. Thanks.
