All of us get old. I am 72 and realized last year that i am no longer capable of performing in my profession to the standard i have done my whole life. It has been difficult but i am grateful that i could make this transition privately. President Biden is having to reach this point under public scrutiny. I feel for him. I wish he would step down voluntarily, enjoy his family time, write books or whatever would help him close this chapter of his life. I think we need to be kinder. Its something we all face eventually.

Agreed. And ditto for Donald. Everybody gets old.
You can’t overcome a decline with speech as a US President. Eyes, yes (glasses). Hearing, yes (h. Aids). But not speech - and awareness makes the speech decline even worse.
It’s like football - we’re in the 4th quarter and the quarterback can’t throw anymore.

I have the utmost respect for Biden. I’m sure he’s heavily thinking about this grave situation and mulling over what to decide and who he thinks he’d want to take over the nomination. As a country we need to back off and let him be for at least a couple of days. He’s sick with Covid too. He needs a short rest.

@@kendrah8365 thank you! I think we need to be kinder to each other in general....nobody I talk to enjoys this judgment and divisiveness that seems to have taken root since the covid nightmare....it's up to us to make the choice to come together again no matter what side of the fence we are on. We can keep feeding the anger and vitriol that makes nobody happy (ok I guess some people enjoy the fighting) or we can come together.
PS Joe Biden has served the country for many years, there is no shame in stepping down now. I hope being sick will allow him a little time out to think about it in peace.

Everybody knows that Trump lies. That's not news to anyone. Therefore, people are not discussing it. However, many people were surprised and interested in Biden's condition and how that plays out in some of the behind-the-scenes conversations because all of this is relatively new.

Biden is not able to counter Trump. He is not able to get the points democrats want to make across, not even in interviews. He is not able to actually campaign. He had so few appearances and none of them went really well. He has talked about project 2025 like two times and it takes me effort to even audibly understand what he is saying because he mumbles and whispers and is hoarse all the time, not from a cold, but from age. Democrats can only win when they convince swing voters who are not sure whom to vote for. How do you imagine swing voters to decide for Biden when they can`t even understand what he is saying when he finally manages to utter a sentence and that sentence is not even relevant? Politics is the art of the possible, and it is possible for the Democrats to do quite well against Trump. Among other things the Democratic candidates need to be talking about what they will do if they hold the Whitehouse and Congress (etc.), and contrast that with the Project 2025 nonsense (emphasizing both that the Republicans have bad ideas and that even their bad ideas are so poorly described that they should be rejected twice!) and then say again what good things the Democrats will do if elected.
