  • Nebbiolo is the "king" grape of Piedmonte, Italy and is known for its elegant structure and incredible age-ability. Langhe Nebbiolo is a classification of wine that provides a lower cost, more approachable alternative to Barolo and Barbaresco. Learn all about it in this video and subscribe to the channel for more informative videos about wine.

Great video about a phenomenal wine! This bottle is one of my all-time favourites. What are some others you'd recommend in the same category? Much appreciated!

Hi Lawrence and thank you for tuning into my channel. Nebbiolo is certainly one of my favorite wine grapes. Getting out of the shadow of Barolo and Barbaresco there are lots more DOC and DOCG level wines to choose from. The Fontanafredda Ebbio I featured in this video is a Langhe Nebbiolo. Alternatively, other DOC level Nebbiolo wines would be a Nebbiolo d’ Alba or Nebbiolo d’ Asti. If you strive for a DOCG level Nebbiolo, I suggest trying a Gattinara. That hamlet is about 90 Km north of Barolo and produces very pleasant wines.

For pricing and quality perspectives, Langhe Nebbiolo and Nebbiolo d'Alba which one do you think it is better ? Any difference between the two ? Thank you for your reply

Somboon, thanks for watching. In my opionon, both provide a reasonably priced alternative to Barolo and Barbaresco. Langhe Nebbiolo is from the hills that surround the two cities while Nebbiolo d' Alba could come from the entire Alba area. Both are great. Last night I had a 2016 Vita Colte Nebbiolo d' Alba. It was delightful. Enjoy!
