You are killing me! No one knows about Valtellina wines which is what keeps them somewhat affordable. It’s so nice to have this little secret. Let the masses drive up the Barolo and Barbaresco prices and let me keep my little affordable region to myself. Coincidentally, I had a bottle of Rainoldi Inferno just last night. Stellar!

Nice tips! I wil try chiavennasca. I am glad I found your channel. One note, I think a channel called "wine for the people" should focus more on good value wines. I wonder if you will ever be able to try white wines from Moravia, Czechia.

Nebbiolo has very good ageing potential, due to usually high tannins and acidity.

HUGE ageing potential - easily 15+ years in the cellar, and in some instances, longer than 30+!
Does the amaro/bitter herbs come in part from the Slavonian oak? It is a component often less prominant in Ozzy Nebbs. Fletcher hits this element with his Victorian Nebb and I assume he has access to good (big) Oak
We actually see it a tonne in Australian Nebbiolo! Especially from slightly warmer places. I don't feel it's from Slavonian Oak - more so canopy management and shading in the vineyard. PS: Fletcher is a KING!
I was under the impression that it is not Slovenian Oak but rather Slavonian Oak. There is a big difference. Two different countries. Typically Piedmont wines are aged in Slavonian Oak. Never heard of Slovenian Oak. Cheers.

Confusingly - Slavonian Oak, is sold as Slovenian Oak in Australia. Which probably perpetuates even more confusion! Appreciate you picking up on this! It is most certainly Slavonian Oak!!!

I have a bit of love and hate relationship with nebbiolo. I tasted quite a few and met often a lot of alcohol and a hefty amount of tannin. The better ones - mostly balanced Barolo and Barbaresco - can be quite complex though. Still not a big fan. Sangiovese is where it's at for me.
Sangiovese ROCKS! Although aged Nebbiolo is something to behold!
The name comes from the foggy skins.
That's the first I've ever heard of that!
What about rose?
There's plenty of great Nebbiolo Rosé out there - no doubt about it - although it's a relatively new style and producers, New World and Old World alike are still experimenting with it as a serious contender amongst more established Rosé styles.
How about some of the Aussie Nebs😊
They're yet to reach the heights of those mentioned (IMHO) - BUT - perhaps a 'New World Nebb' vid?
Have you tried the Adelina neb, sadly now collectors item as vineyard torched in bushfires but beautiful,delicate with years in front of it😍😍

My other favourite is the Nebbiolo from Pizzini’s in the King valley but does Need age🤗
