The record industry is known for corruption. I hate that so many youth are drawn to it. Teach your children to appreciate their gifts. My son is an excellent rapper. He produces his own music and uses it to promote morality. There are many creative outlets for music. A record deal is just one of them.
DeBarge had hits but they were no Jackson5 and El being compared to Michael is insanity. The Jackson had a TV variety show, and cartoon. If I remember correctly they even had action figures, lunch boxes and so on. What it was to see the Jacksons on TV during that generation was really something, I'm sorry but DeBarge could Neva! Lol DeBarge was talented and we loved I like it, A Dream, All this Love and Love me in a Special Way but they were no Jackson5.
You're not really saying much. And that annoying background music and the monotonous way you recite the stories make this video too unbearable to watch.
Regarding those Debarge's, you have to go back and research the boy's father and his demonic mistreatment and assault of his wife and all of his children, continuously and from a very young age up into their teens. The only way those children could live in that house with that man was through use of substances. No one today could have endured what they did and come out whole. Neighbors, police, school personnel, and police , someone must have known but no one helped them. Their mother did not/could not help them as she was a victim also from even before her children were born. I can never hold them responsible for the choices they made.Look into what was done to them by that man and you will fully understand what I am talking about.
One of the few good things about social media and modern tech is that artists could make and market their own music without interference. The downside is that it is much harder to make money.
Eddie Levert from the O'Jays stated the same thing about back in the day, how they could make and market their own music, when he was interviewed on a talk show
@ That’s cool. I once had a computer programmer teacher who told me he toured & played horns for the O’Jays. He could tell I doubted him (as I’m sure others did) but we googled it and sure enough there he was!
Does anyone think that the record industry will tell you the truth about what they do to their artists?!? Most got Diddy fied and then got on drugs to cope 😢
That fact that this been going on for a long time speaks volumes, this is why destruction is happening all over by the higher powers because these ppl has voided so many deaths and traumas with no justice Smh
These things happened and people of my generation didn't know about it. Social media and reality shows have made some folks think they're entitled to know these entertainers private lives. In my day the purpose of an actor or singer was to entertain us. We didn't know what went on at home and didn't care. Occasionally you would see that one was arrested or other trouble came to them and it might be briefly mentioned in the news.
For every succesful artist, there's 5 sitting on the shelf being groomed by the record company. Where do they get that money to sustain these acts till they're ready? They skim from the top artists and that's why they go broke without knowing its happening!
What has that got to do with anything? Bring back the days when we understood that these recording artists only purpose was to entertain us and we didn’t care about anything else. Why do we think that we have to know every time they take a shike?
Bruce Springsteen earning $75.000 per minute on stage generously donated $10.000 that works out around 10 seconds of one set ….. yeah nice one Bruce. 👍🏾🏆
Yes the story of the deBarge family is very disturbing their Demons stem from their childhood home from the physical and sexual abuse of their father it’s a really sad and disturbing story if you get a chance please go and look up their life story Ashley says so a channel on TH-cam does a great documentary of them from start to finish very very sad it actually made me cry what they went through the music industry only helped them to suppress the trauma with the drugs alcohol and fame, Beautiful family with a very sad ending for all of them and it’s funny how the mother seems to have relished in the money and the fame of her children when she allowed her abusive husband to abuse her children so so sad 😢 I grew up with them in the 80s and love switch it just goes to show you never know what goes on behind closed doors because it never showed on stage what they were going through well I never saw it anyway, great little documentary on Motown ❤
I think most of these artista already had a lot of mental issues and family abuse issues.Motown gave them a family of artists they didnt have at home money and fame. They just choose to ruin their Life with that money and Fame.Thats the way I see It.Berry Gordy empowered them to be incredible artista and tried to open dooors for them on TV and radio in a White dominated industry. He couldnt be their father though and Many if them ruines their Life over substance abuse and unreaolved mental andnsexual iisues.I dont think its fair blame Motown fornthat.did Motown stole money from them? Yes,like each and every other labels in the industry then and now.Its not a businesmodle created to make the artist rich.and when the contractnwasnover Motown had built a name andnfanbase fornthe.they could haveused that in their advantage but most of them were not sober enough to do that.Motown fulfilled their promises.they wanted DTO be atars,Motown mad ethem stars.the rest of the drama IS their own making .

Mother made a choice of a white man... Her father failed her by not teaching her GOD'S WORD... 😢😢😢
Background sounds of this video is irritating. I thought it was my car making that noise. Good video anyhow 😊
O my me as well I was driving and listening and thought it was my car twice lol
Agreed. It would be better if the background music was turned down, in my opinion.
😂😂
A lot of this is not hidden. the music business wasn't perfect then and sure isn't perfect today.
A lot of misinformation here.

Not just Motown, all of them do practically the same shit.
Rehashing of stuff reported and known long ago by many.
But you watched and made a comment anyway 🤷🏿♂️
@@humanr.e8529 Because fools wany clout so much they borrow stuff from others to report.
@@humanr.e8529 Are we supposed to know that you will rehash well-known issues before we listen? Just dumb!
@beyourself2444 it's not the listening its the making the comment about listening as if you're the only one that notices
@@humanr.e8529 Many notice clowns that hate to do research borrow others folks' articles for substance of click bait.
